JUST had this conversation with my dad. It got so heated that he said he didn’t want to talk about it anymore. What the fuck! “Well, he may not have done that.” Who fucking says stuff like that?? I blasted him for even THINKING about that sorry ass excuse. I just can’t with these people. My family included. We defend the indefensible and human decency is in the toilet. Comes from the top…and trickles down. Like pee.

This was never tolerated by a REAL PRESIDENT and his administration. This tolerance comes from a morally bankrupt party with a morally bankrupt fraud at the top. I despise them all.

      • November 12, 2017 at 11:44 am

It’s been so traumatic every single day of this entire administration and now this. To constantly re-injure and create more pain for women and young girls who have been emotionally and physically traumatized is just more than we should ever have to tolerate. And from public servants? HELL, NO.

Agreed. The larger issue for me is that is own MOTHER was abused for decades by his father. The day that bastard finally died was joyous. To hear my own father question whether he’s really an abuser and should be seated should he win, just makes me want to throw up. I feel sick inside.

          • November 12, 2017 at 12:51 pm

I’m so sorry to hear this. It is so extremely painful to hear people in denial. My heart goes out to you.

Watching a parent abuse another parent is something that you never get over. And then after the abused parent dies how do you go about trying to have a normal relationship with the parent that did the abusing. I remember when my mom passed away I made the funeral arrangements and my father called me up and asked me if he could come to the funeral. I told him yes, I remember other members of the family giving him the cold shoulder. A couple of years later he had gotten sick and he was dying, he called me on the phone one day and we had a long talk. I could hear in his voice overwhelming sadness. He sounded so weak and frail, he died a little while later. Both of my parents suffered with addiction and everything else.

I’m listening to AMJoy, heard her say Donna Brazille will be on. I will turn it off. I don’t think I can listen to any of what she has to say. She has done so much damage.

    • November 12, 2017 at 11:32 am

I agree, I used to respect Brazile, sadly to say not any longer.

    • 66 57andfemale
      November 12, 2017 at 12:30 pm

I made myself listen to Brazile on progressive radio this week with an open mind although I was seething. She had a carefully honed message. She was slick. She didn’t change anyone’s mind. She called the deal where HRC expected some control for her gargantuan efforts to pay the debts of a broke party, “unethical.” I almost lost it when I heard that. Who gives that kind of money to a sinkhole of a party and doesn’t expect some say?!? She talked about her longstanding relationship with Bernie (gag.) She expected to take the money from HRC and do what she wanted. She may have had some decent points on how they could’ve worked better together, but it’s minimal spin compared to the potential damage of her attack on HRC. She never once mentioned that Bernie raised zip for the Dems, and she said she arranged all kinds of pro-HRC events for Bernie. Did she listen to what he said on those lukewarm events?

The one thing that rang true: she really had a problem with algorithmic approaches to data. She kept saying she was “old school.” I don’t recall anyone in HRC’s campaign not expecting good old fashioned grunt work from supporters.

In all fairness, the DNC has been TERRIBLE for decades at building party participation at lower levels of government. This is how the GOP got ahead and we fell behind. Wasn’t she part of the party all those years?

And she lied about producing that addendum that she found “unethical.” She said she’d given it to media outlets and told the progressive host that she’d get it to him. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall that addendum/memorandum seeing the light of day.

She did talk about the depth of the hacking and the danger to elections. Here’s a thought, Donna: you could have made that the focus of your book and make the book constructive. HRC filled her campaign with young, forward-thinking people, just like Brazile was 30 years ago. Everyone should have a seat at the table and contribute. The neglect of down ballot and off-year elections happened on her watch over decades. She showed no remorse.

I was just at Amazon to check on Pete’s book because I heard it was sold out. I found this review interesting, especially on a day when I needed my faith in people restored.

    Top customer reviews
5.0 out of 5 starsHow I used to feel about Obama… And how I was robbed!!!
    ByGingerbreadTOP 500 REVIEWERon November 7, 2017
    Format: Kindle Edition
I’d like to say up front here that this is one of those reviews where I am struggling so hard to put thoughts into words, because of how many thoughts I have, and how difficult it is for me to express them. I grew up as a staunch Republican in rural Idaho, and never really came into contact with anything that challenged my beliefs. I graduated high school in 2000, worked a few jobs here and there, still in rural Idaho, and then after 9/11 I joined the military, where I was surrounded by many like-minded people.

I voted for McCain in 2008, and then Romney in 2012, and felt a crushing defeat at both losses. I hated the Obamas, and all the news stations I watched, and people I talked to, reinforced that hatred. And then, about a year after his second election, I woke up. I took off the blinders, and realized that through and through, I was a Democrat. All the things I cared about in life, despite my Republican upbringing, were things the Democrats cared about as well, and I jumped in with both feet. I got involved in politics for the first time in my life beyond presidential voting. I became an activist for several issues that mattered the most.

And I absolutely fell in love with the Obamas. Such advocates for equality and change, and Obama himself, instead of the fiend I’d thought him, turned out to be a calm voice in the face of panic. A steady leader in the face of fear. He was funny and personable, and every time I heard him speak I felt suddenly prouder and more patriotic. I looked at him, and thought yes, THIS is what America stands for! And then shortly after that, I realized I was only going to have him as MY president, for three years. Just three. Because all the rest of that time I wasted being blind and hateful. I had been robbed, and it was utterly heartbreaking!!!

I couldn’t afford this book. I tried my local library first, then drove straight to Barnes and Noble when the library didn’t have it, and stayed to read it there… And it was wonderful. It was to me, especially, because of how many years I lost. How many stories I missed. How much time I’ll never get back. He should have been “my” president all along, and losing him, and his family, after so little time, has made my struggle this last year all the greater. I’m not really the kind that normally runs off to scrounge around for books they can’t afford, but this is the second photography book of the Obamas I’ve done so for, and it captured my heart as much the second time, as it did the first.

UPDATE: Thanks to so many of the kind, heartwarming offers, I have received a copy of this book. Thank you, to those who offered, and to the ones who sent it. I am so grateful and honored.

Good Morning Nerdy, Meta & TOD!

Thanks meta for posting this. It is VERY moving…I have few words…but this entire post is very heartening and, along with some of the recent election results, begins to restore some of my faith in humanity. I wish this poster well, and I am grateful for their honesty and willingness to move beyond their insular world to the broader society. 🙂 🙂

I received my copy a couple days ago, and it’s just absolutely divine! Everyone is rushing to get their copy…they will be sold out by New Year’s Day. Pete Souza is a national treasure…I hope that one day he will be recognized as such.

It seems to me that people need to understand that a huge majority of people who voted for the homegrown demagogue will still support and vote for him no matter what!

    our goal should be to remove voter suppression measures for those who were not able (legally restricted from) to vote and maximize the participation of those who were too casual about the importance of their vote;

I suspect that even as scumbag45 ad members of Team Treason are being led away by Team Mueller, there will be significant number of people still arguing that the corrupt traitors are innocent …
