Someone on TOD posted a picture of Kelly at the Gold Star Families Dinner at the WH and he looked like he DID NOT want to be there. Now we know he disliked PBO too. Even yesterday at that pathetic speech he said, PBO did not call his family. I wonder if he meant his daughter-in-law too? Doesn’t matter he’s proved himself to be a filthy liar.

Kudos to Lawrence O’Donnell for calling out Kelly for his hypocritical remarks against Congresswoman Wilson. He resorted to calling her names just like his boss. Lawrence is the only one who defended her last night, while everyone walked on eggshells. I respect him for being a Goldstar parent but he took it to far when he tried to humiliate Ms. Wilson.

This needs to be repeated over and over again: Four–Star-General, John Kelly, Trump’s Chief of Staff, LIED ABOUT REP. FREDERICA WILSON’S comments, in her 2015 speech. To justify his vicious attacks on the integrity, and humanity, of an African-American woman member of Congress, General John Kelly, a Chief of Staff for president Trump, lied with impunity! Surely, there must be consequences for a president’s COS—who also happens to be a highly decorated Marine—who used blatant lies to viciously attack a duly elected member of Congress, because she had the audacity to expose the callousness and insensitivity of the president towards a widow of a soldier KIA>

“The president is given these emergency powers as a temporary measure until Congress has time to act. It stretches credulity to think Congress hasn’t had time to act since 9/11 happened,” said Elizabeth Goitein, co-director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the Brennan Center for Justice. “We should not be treating 9/11 as an emergency in 2017.”

      From this article:

Also last month, Trump set aside congressionally mandated pay increases for military and civilian employees, cutting them to 2.1% for uniformed services and an average of 1.9% for civilians. The law allows the president to cut scheduled pay raises in cases of “national emergency or serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare.”

HE’S the national emergency!! Get him the hell out!

    Hiya, TOD! Friday greetings!

Offspring just shared this article with me (I’m still in the process of reading it) and since it’s definitely relevant to our daily commentary here I’m passing it on. Who knows, it might add a spark or two to our own discussion. I’d not heard of the author before, nor of this approach, so I’m interested in investigating it some more.

IBRAM KENDI, ONE OF THE NATION’S LEADING SCHOLARS OF RACISM, SAYS EDUCATION AND LOVE ARE NOT THE ANSWER

    BY LONNAE O’NEAL
    @LONNAEONEAL September 20, 2017

It’s a Wednesday night at a bookstore in a well-off part of Washington, D.C., and every seat is taken. More than 100 people spill into the aisles or crowd the stacks past the philosophy and cookbook sections to hear Ibram X. Kendi talk about the racist ideas that founded the nation. About how racial progress is always followed by new and more sophisticated racist progress. And, especially, about the deeply held beliefs that most Americans, including black people and liberal whites, woke up with this morning that they don’t even know are racist and wrong.

For instance, “Black neighborhoods are not more dangerous than white neighborhoods and neither are black people,” Kendi tells the crowd. Layers of racist ideas account for why we think so.

Last year, the 35-year-old scholar became the youngest person to win the National Book Award for nonfiction in 30 years for Stamped from the Beginning, The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America.

And this year, his moment continues. He’s just moved to Washington, where he is launching the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University next week. He’s a historian of racism at a time when our public conversation is fixed on it, when successive presidents have triggered the tribal apprehensions of our Mason-Dixon lines, and when the threat of shoot-you-down, run-you-over racial violence feels as close at hand as the peril to the republic from fake facts and revisionist history. This convergence of circumstances keeps him perpetually on book tour.

    [ANDRÉ CHUNG for The Undefeated]
A diverse group made up a standing-room-only audience during Dr. Ibram Kendi’s recent book promotion event at Politics and Prose.

Today is the funeral for the young soldier killed in Niger and what is that FAKE so call President doing this morning? Tweeting and attacking the Congresswoman. Why not tweet and offer his sympathy. He calls the Congresswoman wacky, look at his own self, it is no doubt that Trump has some mental issues. This is not the behavior of a christian. As far as the General, in his speech he talk about how woman use to be treated sacred , then he turns around and attacks the black Congresswoman. Makes no sense, maybe the General is more like Trump after all, maybe the four start General is the EMPTY BARREL.

    • October 21, 2017 at 10:19 am

I think all she meant was that BK was referring to its own customers, since they ran the experiment in their store, which was very powerful to me.

They were willing to show how many people in one of their own restaurants would stand by and say nothing about a kid being bullied, but nearly all of those same people didn’t hesitate to speak up when they had an issue with the way their burger looked.

I guess I feel if you can’t stand against a horror show like Trump, you don’t deserve to be elected!

It’s going to take a groundswell of citizens and the Congress to rise up. So I’m adding my voice as well as my vote.

          • October 21, 2017 at 7:12 pm

it is not that you cannot stand up against a horror show…it is TRUMPISM that is the issue…Trump is just the carrier…you had mentioned earlier in the year…that our focus as DEMs has to be on the elections of 2017 and 2018….this is critical…in my county….18 polling places were moved…we were just notified last week….the vice chair of the county commissioners who is in charge of elections is a DEMOCRAT….many many votes will be lost because of this move…i do not think folks are taking this seriously…it is going to take a change in the face of Congress to impeach Trump…but it will take all of us…to defeat Trumpism…

  68. October 21, 2017 at 12:11 pm

And on Trump releasing distraction files about JFK’s assassination:
Dotard Dicktraitor stated in Fox and Friends interview May 3 2016 that Ted Cruz’s: “father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald’s being, you know, shot! I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous … And nobody even brings it up. I mean, they don’t even talk about that, that was reported and nobody talks about it. But I think it’s horrible, I think it’s absolutely horrible, that a man can go and do that, what he’s saying there.”
Trump repeatedly linked Ted Cruz’s father to the Assassination of JFK and was elected.

  69. October 21, 2017 at 12:14 pm

Later the Giant Whopper Factory said post-convention: ““Now, Ted never denied that it was his father. But they never denied. Did anybody ever deny that it was the father? They’re not saying, ‘Oh, that’s not really my father.’ It’s little hard to do. It looks like him.”
