Although I believe DT is a racist to his core, there were white families in the group that were not contacted as well. Bottom line is that he is lazy as hell with a completely incompetent staff. Add to that his obvious discomfort with POC and I suspect it was laziness more than anything.

An Australian government plan to overhaul its citizenship process has stalled after opposition parties effectively blocked its Senate passage.

The proposed bill would have made it harder to gain citizenship. It included requirements for applicants to have advanced English language skills and four years of permanent residency.

Opponents argued the requirements were too tough on non-English speakers.

PM Malcolm Turnbull’s government says it will make amendments to the bill.

Late on Wednesday, a Senate deadline expired after Labor, the Greens and the Nick Xenophon Team signalled they would not support the bill in its current form.

Labor said a demand on applicants to pass university-level language tests had the potential to create an underclass of non-citizens.

This is good news. People can always learn English so it’s obvious that the conservative Australian government is trying to keep out “certain” people. Glad their plans have been stalled.

We have to fight for the 20th Century.
If we can gather the troops and stop this..
Dolt45 will realize just how much the GOP has been covering for him.
I said stopping TRUMPCARE was important, not just to save healthcare for millions, but also to force them to show their sociopathy out in the open. We are about to see it, plain and simple.
They are discussing getting rid of the deductions for state and local tax.
Here’s the thing. There are GOP congressmen in the states that they want to punish. If they vote for this, they are literally signing their career death warrant. Republicans squeal about taxes. Putting their fingerprints on something that cannot be hidden, and that the voters can directly attach to them IS career suicide.

I know these areas in my state. These are people who are Republicans because ‘ they keep my taxes low’.
That’s the first thing out their mouths.
Something that directly hits their bottom line – they are proud members of the IGMFY crowd….
The folks that I’m talking about aren’t the Baby Jesus crowd. They moved to these areas for quality of life. And especially schools. That’s why it has been hard for the charter school scammers to move into the suburbs. How you gonna sell that scam to people who specifically moved there FOR the public schools? The attack on the taxes isn’t just taxes; they will see it-and correctly so- as an attack on ‘their way of life’. ALL made possible by the taxes. These taxes are their bottom line. Taking away that deduction is HUGE. HUGE.

The GOP controls all levers of government. There’s nobody to hide behind. They didn’t get TRUMPCARE, so they have to do their sociopathy out in the open.
These are the people who have accountants. Or know accountants. You don’t think that the whispering has already started about what the lack of state and local tax deductions will do their bottom line?
And, the only thing that they can explain is that the Koch Brothers will get a tax cut and somehow it will get back to them – which they know is bullshyt.

Good luck to the GOP reps thinking that they can sell that..

The path is direct now. They have nobody to hide behind.
I looked it up: Between CT, NY, NJ, CA, MA, IL and PA, there are over 40 GOP Reps. All being asked to commit Career Suicide. That’s more than enough to take back the House.

These tax cuts are about decimating the American Social Safety Net. Repealing the New Deal. Ridding us of the 20th Century.
You see now that, when people bring up the huge deficits that these tax cuts will cause, they don’t really care about the deficit. They spent 8 years howling about it when the Black Man was President. But, now, deficits don’t really matter.
Once they get those tax cuts past, then they’ll begin whining about the deficit, and how we have to make up that by cutting social programs – never defense, but Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. It would fiscally irresponsible not to deal with the deficit…but AFTER the giveaway to the rich and corporations.
Make no mistake…they are coming after the 20th Century.

He’s the Patrion Saint for White Supremacist Steve Bannon and only ‘ Seems Racist’?

    Robert Mercer Seems Really Racist
    by Martin Longman
    October 18, 2017 P

With an assist from Charles Pierce, I can across an article in Vanity Fair that details allegations made in court filings against Robert Mercer by a former business associate named David Magerman. I am not surprised by Mercer’s banal views on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its effects, but I am relieved to see Mercer’s views on what’s “not important.”

In court papers filed on Friday, Magerman argues that following a pair of phone conversations in which Mercer expressed arguably racist opinions, Magerman felt obliged to inform the press about his boss’s viewpoints—and that he received verbal assurance by Renaissance C.O.O. Mark Silber that the statements he intended to make were “permissible under company policy.” Those racist opinions, according to Magerman, included comments such as: a) The United States began to go in the wrong direction after the passage of the Civl Rights Act in the 1960s; b) African Americans were doing fine in the late-1950s and early-1960s before the Civil Rights Act; c) The Civil Rights Act “infantilized” African Americas by making them dependent on government and removing any incentive to work;d) The only racist people remaining in the United States are black; and e) White people have no racial animus toward African Americans anymore, and if there is any, is it not something that the government should be concerned with.

The best part of the filing, at least to us, was that when Magerman “point[ed] out that society was segregated before the Civil Rights Act and African Americans were required to use separate and inferior schools, water fountains, and other everyday services and items,” Mercer allegedly responded that “those issues were not important.” In a subsequent phone conversation (the “white supremacist” one), Magerman claimed Mercer initially “disputed that he had said such things, although he did not actually deny saying them” and “in the course of rehashing the conversation . . . repeated many of these same views, and even cited research that allegedly supported his opinion that the Civil Rights Act harmed African Americans economically.” (A spokesman for Renaissance declined to comment.)

Robert Mercer may be the first person I’ve heard argue that all the depredations that blacks suffered under the Jim Crow regime were “not important.” His reasoning seems to be that blacks were “doing fine” under that regime when compared to what came after the major civil rights legislation of the 1960’s.

Why aren’t we talking more loudly and consistently about these three things related to the tax cut: (a) no evidence that it the tax cut results into economic growth ; (b) it is a blatant action to rob the treasury on behalf of the very rich; (c) Kansas and Oklahoma are some of the most clear example how this robbery led to utter devastation of basic services (education, social programs, public safety etc.) to such an extent that republicans had to reverse them.

Most people know nothing about all of this. The only thing in the so-called news report is related to the distraction of the reality show white house. Meanwhile, the GOP congress and its donors are sneaking in all of the things that they have wanted for the past 50 years and the stupid DNC is involved in organizational drama instead of organized resistance and growing the party. We would not have had Barack Obama as president if it had been left to the DNC. Things are getting done these days by people/groups that are not part of this ineffective organization. If we manage to flip congress and get rid of the deplorable one and his crew, it will be not be because of anything the DNC has done. I am especially disappointed and disgusted by the fact that the two POC co-leaders are being led by the nose by an old white man who is not even a Democrat.

As PBO & VP Biden are hitting the campaign trail, we, ordinary people can help out by directly imploring the people in our own networks to show up and vote. Most people are not paying attention about these elections that are very near completion. Early voting in my state has already started

  34. October 19, 2017 at 10:20 am

Vox’s Matt Yglesias explained yesterday, shaping a more progressive tax-cut plan is pretty straightforward:

You’d start with some tax policy measures that benefit people at the bottom and the middle of the economic hierarchy. An expanded Child Tax Credit, something that some Republicans support, would help an enormous number of poor and middle-class families – especially if it were made fully refundable. An expanded Earned Income Tax Credit, including provisions to allow childless men to benefit, would do the same.

And then of course you could add in an old-fashioned rate cut. Drop the 10 percent bracket to 9 or 8 or 7 depending on your taste. Or modestly cut the payroll tax.

Next day cleaning, decorating doorsteps wthe rangoli, courtyards with lanterns. 2nd night lamps and firecrackers and visiting relatives exchange of sweets. 3rd is about Lakshmi and welcoming her with lamps and lanterns and skies lit by fireworks. 5th day every man dines in his sister’s house – gifts. Thousands join hands for sacred bath in the Yamuna. “The cognition of all objects arises from the light of pure Consciousness.”
