Greatest Moment Of His Life

Corinna Burford: Jerry Seinfeld: Driving A Corvette With Obama Is The ‘Greatest Moment’ Of My Entire Life

Jerry Seinfeld is a world-famous comedian, he starred in one of TV’s most beloved sitcoms, and he’s got a $100 million deal with Netflix. But as he explained at the New Yorker Festival on Friday night, nothing in his long career tops his 2015 episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Barack Obama. “It was the greatest moment of my life,” he told New Yorker editor David Remnick during the event. “Who gets to do that?”

The experience was also plenty nerve-wracking, he said, comparing the feeling to his jitters before his first-ever appearance on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson. “It was absolute, sickening nerves. It seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity, that I’m gonna get to be funny with a president in the White House.”

Thanks for the chance to comment:
In the aftermath of a war zone sanity starts to prevail. Tyrants like to evoke “Law and Order” while riling it up. We can’t surrender our independence to the GOPKOCH Killer Pro-Fascist Party. The “Because I said so” approach by the Dicktraitor – followed by punishment if you disagree with him – is the old patriarchal game to keep dependents self-censoring. The Con ‘good old days’ are a myth that keep being
re-written. Today we’re close upon our authentic PBO and what he did on our behalf and he is near. We can see in 3D the filthy forces President Obama endured. So it’s out in the open. He is Uachtarán: President One Who Rises Through Excellence.
I believe we can shed this corrupt and treasonous skin. Yes We can.

Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald to Paint Portraits of Barack and Michelle Obama. They will be unveiled next year and added to the National Portrait Gallery.

    • October 13, 2017 at 2:19 pm

Kehinde Wiley (born 1977)[1] is a New York-based portrait painter who is known for his highly naturalistic paintings of black people in heroic poses. The Columbus Museum of Art, which hosted an exhibition of his work in 2007, describes his work with the following: “Kehinde Wiley has gained recent acclaim for his heroic portraits which address the image and status of young African-American men in contemporary culture.”[2]

Amy Sherald (born 1973) is an American painter based in Baltimore, Maryland.[1] Her work started out autobiographical in nature, but has taken on a social context ever since she moved to Baltimore.[2] She is best known for her portrait paintings that address social justice, as well as her choice of subjects, which are drawn from outside of the art historical narrative. Through her work, she takes a closer look at t the way people construct and perform their identities in response to political, social, and cultural expectations.[3]

Hi Pf, how are you? I followed your example and googled both artists to look at some of their previous work . I’m sharing an excerpt form an article on each artist:
Sister of heart transplant recipient now needs a heart

        APRIL 13, 2016 7:08 PM

As sisters growing up in Columbus, Amy and Harriet Sherald spent many days frolicking in the innocence of childhood.

Now as adults, the two siblings share another common experience — this time through congenital heart failure.

Amy, 41 and living in Maryland, was the first to go through the crucible. She received her heart transplant three years ago, enabling her to recently win a prestigious national competition for a portrait now on display at the Smithsonian Museum.

          Kehinde Wiley (American, born 1970)
          Oil and enamel on canvas

Wiley is fast-rising star. He grew up in Los Angeles and recalls the impression made on him by grand style painting at local museums: the Huntington Collection, the Norton Simon Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Since 2001 when he earned his MFA from Yale University, he has honed his realist style; it’s now an efficient vehicle for his hybrid sensibility. Wiley genuinely admires the spectacle of traditional portraiture. But an artist in this day and age must also dig beneath the pomp and pageantry, undermining its narratives of absolute authority.

Wiley does this by mimicry and subversion. His young black men assume the poses and attitudes of historical figures. Sometimes they take on merchants; sometimes saints. Even emperors get their comeuppance. But the critique is not one way. Yes, seeing an ordinary person of color in the mantle of European privilege and power produces a jolt, reminding us by its very incongruity of the canon’s exclusionary nature. But some of the posing cuts the other way, too; Wiley’s paintings suggest that Hip Hop has its own preoccupations with faux pageantry–what has been called a neo-baroque aesthetic of excess and display.

imo Trump hates the people who live in America and wants to see us beg for our lives, e.g. threatening to take health care.
imo Trump hates the people who live on our planet, e.g. his obsession with nuclear war.
Not a fan of psychology but chances are the one Trump hates the most is hisself.

      Some States are filing Lawsuits.
Now, how fast or slow this takes, is the Question.
I don’t get how a Law passed, Fortified by 5-4 SCOTUS in 2013 (though John Roberts made it Optional for the 50 States), I don’t get how this is Not Dereliction of Duty; hence, an impeachable offense. It is Not clear why #Dems & many in the Media ignore this obvious argument.

WTF is wrong with Ben Carson? What does he even do in HUD? One thing republicans have done for decades is to uplift the most disqualified, obsequious, beholden Black folks without giving them any real power and certainly no respect. They are there to be tokens and judas goats to show other republicans that Black people are not capable of carrying out important duties. They are trotted out to answer to POC issues so that repubs. can say that they are not racists. From the house slave who bought the “you are like family” bull shit to J C. Watts (remember him?) to Michael Steele to Rice of SC, it is the same con that other Black people do not fall for, but then they are not the intended audience. They trotted this fool out at that hypocritical prayer breakfast that they have every year, for him to try to put down PBO and he only made himself look like a fool. This collaborator will be shunned even more than he is now when all of this is over. So glad Auntie Maxine handled him.

      GA Nena.

I watched most of the press briefing (no questions permitted), and @markberman’s tweet doesn’t jive with what I heard, and some of the tweets about the briefing.

But I’m still not clear what Jesus Campos did after he was shot by LV shooter — it sounded like the sheriff said he went to the 31st floor to gain entry to the locked room where the shooter was (but that makes no sense, must have been my mishearing what the sheriff said. 😦 ).

It is true that LV sheriff sounded like someone up for re-election (which he is) — he ended briefing asking for the public’s support.

I didn’t see the Presser. I responded by reading the Tweet that I had posted.
The Sheriff is looking a tad Shady.
This Jesus C., has he been allowed to speak yet? I heard that Jesus C. was New at MGA, 2 days on the Job. They are trying to Silence him & pay him off? MGM is in a lot of Trouble. Only the lawsuits will air out the Truth. FBI on Las Vegas has been too Quiet.
I saw another Guard, looked White to me……on a Show last night, contradicting Today’s Flip Flop Sheriff’s comments.

Tapper, like so many who are responsible for the current state of affairs, only cared about what this awful man did until it affected them, their reputations and livlihoods.

fuck you turd and your treasonous party.

Global powers, including key US allies, have said they will stand by the Iran nuclear deal which US President Donald Trump has threatened to tear apart.

Mr Trump said on Friday that he would stop signing off on the agreement.

The UK, France and Germany responded that the pact was “in our shared national security interest”. The EU said it was “not up to any single country to terminate” a “working” deal.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said the US was “more isolated than ever”.

“Can a president annul a multilateral international treaty on his own?” he asked.

“Apparently he doesn’t know that this agreement is not a bilateral agreement solely between Iran and the United States.”

h/t BJ…If you live in/near NYC you might want to take this in.

Discover a century of women’s political activism in New York City.
Beyond Suffrage: A Century of New York Women in Politics traces women’s political activism in New York City from the struggle to win the vote, through the 20th century, and into our own times. Beginning with the long battle for women’s voting rights that culminated in 1917 statewide and 1920 nationally, the exhibition highlights women at the center of New York’s politics over the course of 100 years. It features a diverse range of activists both familiar and lesser known, the battles they fought, and the many issues they championed.

The exhibition examines how women navigated New York politics in the 1920s through 1940s, often working behind the scenes for causes like health, labor, and good government; the central role of New York in the women’s liberation movement of the 1960s and its redefining of women’s roles in politics and government; and continued campaigns for women’s political power and grassroots mobilizations that demand equal gender rights today.
