      THAT is what I’ve been secretly waiting for. Because I KNEW he would do it. He’ll be getting the word out, and we’ll be helping him! And thanks to everybody at TOD (you know who you are, including you, meta) for getting the ACA details out to those who need ’em.

    A Balloon Juice commenter brought up the fact that our fascist government under Trump will be scrutinizing all social media used by Naturalized Citizens and immigrants which involves communications with foreigners. Republicans are dangerous to democracy in so many ways.

      Meta and I were sharing our outrage about this last night.

      Of course I take this personally, since I’m a naturalized citizen, having arrived in this country as an infant, after being adopted by American parents.

      Twitter appears to be tweaking their system now, but here’s what I sent last night:

      [From WAPo article, look who would be taking over, police dood from NJ, seems like a Dotard kinda dood]:

      […..] Fuentes is a career law enforcement officer who has led the New Jersey State Police since 2003. He harshly criticized the Obama administration for striking a deal with Cuba to restore diplomatic relations with that country without addressing the question of long-sought fugitives, including one who killed a New Jersey state trooper in 1973.

      “We approach the next presidential administration with a renewed sense of optimism and moral superiority that justice will prevail,’’ Fuentes said in a statement in January. […..]

    A Republican Senate primary in Alabama is twisting Donald Trump and his party in knots and turning the president’s supporters against each other.

    Mr Trump has put his power and reputation on the line for the kind of Washington insider he used to rail against – a former corporate lobbyist who was appointed to the Senate by a governor who subsequently resigned in disgrace, no less.

    Meanwhile erstwhile White House aides, rabble-rousing former Trump surrogates and even a member of the president’s own Cabinet are lining up behind an upstart insurgent who almost no one in Washington wants to see roaming the halls of the Senate.

      The rethugs in congress will NEVER learn from their mistakes or grow a pair – they only listen to their owners aka donors (and trump if they can’t avoid him, their first choice). We have but to look at how they’ve acted since 2009 to be assured they have nothing individually to offer. That’s almost all of ’em, in my view.

      Hopefully, Moore will never make it into the Senate because he’s another subhuman jerk. He would, however, fit right in.

          GM 99ts.

          Per Wikipedia:
          “The New Hampshire House of Representatives is the lower house in the New Hampshire General Court, the bicameral legislature of the state of New Hampshire. The House of Representatives consists of 400 members coming from 204 legislative districts across the state, created from divisions of the state’s counties. On average, each legislator represents about 3,300 residents.”

          NH state senate has 24 members.

          This is amazing to me. New Hampshire is one of the smallest states in the US, and they have a HUGE state legislature — if California elected one rep per 3,000 people, we’d have 13,000 reps. SMH.

      Hurricane Maria arrived in Puerto Rico on Wednesday morning, so it’s taken almost a week to deploy USNS Comfort, which has vital desalinization capability — would be a godsend for people without potable water now.

      More on the clusterf**k surrounding the deployment of USNS Comfort:

      • September 27, 2017 at 8:14 am

        NO ONE in the media wants to say why it took so long for Puerto Rico to get attention and aid…it is because it is a nation of brown people…the same folks that TRUMP and his ilk is obsessed with deporting…

  39. September 26, 2017 at 11:33 pm

    Rachel says the hospital ship Comfort will head out for Puerto Rico in 4 days + 5 days to get there. PR Mayor Cruise who described the terrifying crisis, told Rachel that the FEMA chain of command has been blocked for fed responders with docs, nurses and medics still waiting for the green light. She says half of residents have no clean drinking water. No power grid, hospitals don’t have sufficient power to keep people alive. Need diesel, gas, water, help getting around. Seniors cut off and alone, cannot cook. People messaging her with desperate SOSes.
    Been 6 days since Maria hit PR. And Comfort still preparing to go. Nine days till it arrives. People in San Juan hospital already dead.

    Uganda Political crisis:

    this political junkie is facing a situation where my country of birth (Uganda) is in deep turmoil and then the mess in my current country of choice (US);

    Tuesday in Uganda was spent with members of parliament engaged in physical fights in the legislative chambers. As far as I know, this is the first time actual fights have broken out on the floor of parliament -fist, kicks, furniture, wrestling. there was also loud singing done so that the speaker could not proceed.

    reason for the fight is about the motion to remove the age limit for a sitting president which was to be tabled on Tuesday.

    that the current dictator who has been in power since 1986 is determined to change the constitution by eliminating the age limit of 75 years. this comes after he tried to get around the age limit by “suddenly discovering a new record of birth” which made him suddenly “younger” than his current age;

    members of parliament in the ruling party have been bribed by each receiving a cash payment of 300 million Uganda Shillings (equivalent to about US $ 833,000;

    ordinary people are being beaten, arrested, stripped naked and then paraded on the street before being taken away by the police/army. you are targeted person if you are found wearing tee-shirts of the opposition; college students are being attacked by police and army as they peacefully demonstrate

    the most vocal opposition members of parliament were arrested from their homes overnight and in the morning so that they can’t voice their opinions as the motion was tabled.

    some vocal opposition MPs had to spend the nights away from their homes because they were tipped off that they would be arrested. when day broke, these MPs used various clandestine means to escape the police/army as they rushed to parliament.

    others opposition MPs had to engage in live races on the streets as policemen chased them from car to motor bicycle to feet and with some determined citizens doing all they can to assist them while tripping up the police/army.

    now it is early Wednesday morning ….. what will the day bring

    Democrats flip two seats in state special elections
    BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY – 09/27/17 07:21 AM EDT

    Democrats on Tuesday flipped two seats in special state elections in Florida and New Hampshire.

    In Florida, Democrats Annette Taddeo won a Miami-area state Senate seat, The Daily Beast reported.

    The Miami Herald noted that the race was heavily contested due to its importance to both parties, adding that the Republican who previously occupied the seat faced controversy after reportedly making racist comments and resigning.

    She won in a district that 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton took in the presidential race, 58 to 40 percent.
    In New Hampshire, Democrat Kari Lerner won a special state House election in a district President Trump won by a significant margin.

    Lerner beat her opponent, Republican former state Rep. James Headd, by 39 votes, according to WMUR.

    She garnered 50.6 percent support, while her opponent received 48.4 percent.

    Bernie is not even a Democrat, so why is he ripping our party apart?
    BY MICHAEL STARR HOPKINS, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR — 09/27/17 09:00 AM EDT

    At some point very soon, supporters of Bernie Sanders have a decision to make. Do they want four more years of Republican majorities, or do they want to be part of implementing policies aimed at helping the poor and working poor? In this political climate, it’s a binary choice. Either supporters of Sanders help to elect Democrats who can beat Donald Trump or they contribute to his re-election. Period.

    All the talk about a living wage, single-payer health care, and social justice means nothing if Republicans are re-elected in 2018 and 2020. All the talk about building an economy that works for all Americans means nothing if “Bernie bros” attack every Democrat who isn’t Sanders. He isn’t even a registered Democrat. I would love to hear Sanders’s opinion on how the Democratic Party can rebound and rebuild, but it has to be preceded by him actually joining the party, not merely using it as a vessel for his run for president. Democrats are your allies, not your punching bag or your Uber.
