Deal with facts, not speculation. GOP will try to mind-fuck people into giving up by implying that they will vote “no.” Do not fall for the con. It is not over until it is verifiably over.
If you are like me and you do better with written communication, this is the last day to email your opinions about G/C. GCHcomments@finance.senate.gov

Trump and the GOP congress are just symbols of what has always been true of US; a divided nation, founded on genocide, slavery, and white male supremacy. The only thing that #45’s ascension has done is to bring the results of these truths into the blinding light; no more dog whistles, systemic racism, and Southern Strategy, no more saying one thing and legislating another way. Anyone who was asleep, willfully blind and unconcerned are now having to face the truth of what their actions, silence, and white privilege have wrought. This is our time on the precipice, who will have the courage to stand in and for truth and give real life and meaning to the words in our documents for the first time for all?

      • September 24, 2017 at 3:47 pm

        Agree with your assessment, CEB.

Appears quite a few Million Americans have the ‘ … courage to stand in …. ‘.

Teaching truthful American History is an essential step that all of us have the opportunity, every day, to participate.

Team owners are rushing to protect their investments to ward off a boycott of the sport. Colin was all alone and unsupported for months and they said nothing, many of whom gave #45 millions in campaign donations. This country’s only morality is money; people only speak out when the bottom line is threatened.

    Dan Rather 4 hours ago:
It’s football Sunday, and I have a pit in my stomach, and a sickening sense of deja vu. Who knows what the day will bring?
I do know the source of my disquiet. It is the stench of bigotry as a demagogue stirs the potent cauldron of racial division. I want to say, this is so unnecessary. We have so many other things we should be worrying about. But of course now this is real, and it must be called out. This is an age when no one can be neutral. To remain silent in the face of race-baiting is to be complicit. And I have seen the cost of complicity. It is ugly.
On Friday night, and then in a chain of tweets (what else) President Trump targeted African American athletes for provocation and ridicule. He has called into question their Americanness, as he called into question the Americanness of his predecessor President Obama. Perhaps what is saddest about this moral cowardice is that Mr. Trump may derive some political gain from these attacks amongst his supporters, but he fails in the test of leadership. Big time. For a President to be doing this – pouring gasoline on the embers of racial resentment – is really unspeakable. Instead of trying to reduce the potentially explosive emotions about race, he is trying to exacerbate them for his own gain.
    (much more..)

Phony balony Mnuchin supports Dotard’s attacks on NFL and said players athletes “can do free speech on their own time.”
Free speech isn’t just some of the time. (Here we’ve a president freely calling people sobs). And isn’t there a federal statute preventing
Federal employees e.g. U.S. President from calling for the hiring or firing of employees of private companies? He’s breaking fed law isn’t he?

No. We had the real thing; dignified, successful, still influential led by a man of whom we are most proud. A comedy will try a lying, low-brow approach (they already tried this with that show that featured Gladys Knight) that will try to satisfy the desperate dreams of the racists who want to see Black people in leadership shown as hapless, shucking and jiving, grinning fools.

Do people think that black people wake up in the morning and say to themselves, “I think I’ll go protest today.” We don’t protest because we don’t have anything else to do, do you know how mentally draining it is to protest? Do you think that these football players want to engage in protesting? This is how they feed their families. Think of it like this, you go to your place of employment and protest the conditions that effect you. The same place you protest is the same place where you draw a paycheck, this is some heavy shit. So no, black people don’t protest because they want to, black people protest be because they have to. It is a matter of life and death.

As I said last night on twitter, Trump is going to force America to have a conversation about race that she has deftly avoid for the last one hundred year plus. President Obama in so many ways tried to move the conversation forward but he was rebuffed, but Trump is going to make America have that conversation in the worst possible way.

RUSSIA WARNS OF “VERY UNPREDICTABLE NOSEDIVE” IF US DOES NOT EASE UP ONITS FIERY WAR OF WORDS WITH NORTH KOREA

Spiking nuclear tensions between the United States and North Korea showed little sign of abating Sunday as Russia warned of a “very unpredictable nosedive” if Washington does not ease up on its fiery war of words with Pyongyang.

US bombers and fighter escorts flew off the coast of North Korea on Saturday and US President Donald Trump took to Twitter with verbal threats as the brinkmanship with Pyongyang intensified. … More here: https://www.yahoo.com/news/us-n-korea-brinksmanship-brings-warning-unpredictable-nosedive-165137665.html

It was FRIDAY night, 2 days ago, that DT was still agitating for Sessions to go after Hillary for her use of private email. And now we get the news that Kushner and others in the West Wing are using private emails. The hypocrisy is just too much. Then we have 3 MILLION Americans in Puerto Rico with no electricity, no water and no food while DT spends the day at his golf course. Awwwww….but they are mostly brown and black people. I despise this entire administration. Where is the press?

This weekend is the prime example of Hillary’s statement that it is so much worse under DT than even she expected. There simply is so much happening that deserves attention, and no way that it all can be covered in a systematic manner. You’ve got:

    1. The dangerous G-C bill to strip healthcare from 31 million Americans
    2. 3 million Americans in Puerto Rico in absolutely dire conditions
    3. The Russia investigation
    4. DT stoking racial controversy at every turn
    5. a hundred other things that this is Administration is doing on a daily basis to hurt Americans from pulling the regs for investigating sexual assault on campuses to the corruption that is running rampant throughout the government.

In short, what is being done to this country is a nightmare. And it is heartbreaking.

Oh, and the new travel ban which is what brought me back here! It makes no sense whatsoever in terms of what is dangerous for our country or a security risk, it is simply a list of DT’s enemies.

Thank you for sharing that. We must continue to “come to terms” with everything that is happening, so we can eventually put all the blocks together again and get back to a pre-45 world, then START OVER on fixing all of the problems that we knew we had but hadn’t successfully addressed. I’m still HOPEFUL that we will be stronger after all this, and stay strong enough to move us forward.

I don’t expect perfect. But we “can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good,” as wise people say. #HOPE
