      Thanks for the news about Pfeiffer bridge!! It’s such a gorgeous park, one of my favorites.
      Now if only we could quickly restore the mudslide on Hwy 1. That will take time and $$$$.

      That is interesting Arapaho. We are having wonderful rain and snow. Blue skies today. We are so happy. Haven’t heard all the fire reports today, but everything has calmed down and we are breathing free. The temperature is to get down to 30. We are hoping for a great fall.

      Prayers for all who were in the path of Harvey and Irma. Now wondering about Jose.

    President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee raised an unprecedented $107 million for a ceremony that officials promised would be “workmanlike,” and the committee pledged to give leftover funds to charity. Nearly eight months later, the group has helped pay for redecorating at the White House and the vice president’s residence in Washington.

    But nothing has yet gone to charity.

    What is left from the massive fundraising is a mystery, clouded by messy and, at times, budget-busting management of a private fund that requires little public disclosure. The Associated Press spoke with eight people — vendors, donors and Trump associates — involved in planning and political fundraising for the celebration, an event that provides an early look at the new president’s management style and priorities. The people described a chaotic process marked by last-minute decisions, staffing turnover and little financial oversight.

    Leaders of previous inaugurations expressed surprise at the slow timeline. They say they had a general handle on their finances — and had already started giving money away — within three months of Inauguration Day, though formally closing down the committees took many months longer.

    “The thing about inaugural expenses, they’re not complicated,” said Steve Kerrigan, head of President Barack Obama’s 2013 inaugural committee. “You take money in, you pay it out, and then you know what you’re left with when it’s done.”

    Because inauguration funds are private money, there are few limits on how leftover money can be used. Previous administrations have used it to supplement budgets for work on the White House residence or events like the annual Easter Egg Roll.

    Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman for first lady Melania Trump, confirmed Trump has continued the practice of using some leftover inauguration funds for renovations to the White House and Naval Observatory, home of the vice president. She declined to disclose the amounts spent on those projects.

    Trump has a history of making bold charitable promises — with slow follow through.

    Try zero follow through, ap.

    One thing fershure, twitler turd’s “election” has exposed how corrupt and rotten the whole system is.

    • September 16, 2017 at 1:00 am

      Yes more than 1.8 million attended PBO’s #1 Inauguration, eclipsing the 1.2 million record by President Johnson in 1965.
      Undoctored Trumputin photos show that PBO’s crowd was 3 or 4 times bigger. Yet Trump raised $107 million for the event by selling ‘exclusive access’ in exchange for donations of $1 million or more. And by ending caps on individual contributions. So much for “ending WA special interests”. Anyway twice as much as any previous president-elect. (PBO: $53 million.) So Frump spent twice as much cash as PBO for an event a third or quarter of the size. And the cash differential still unaccounted for. Another magic disappearing trick but try the mattress.

    wondering how the people who are always pushing “state’s rights” to defend their racism and bigotry would react if the justification is turned against them now …. during the homegrown demagogue’s reign of scoundrel;

    this attempt by Bill Maher was made with a lot of jokes incorporated, but the main thrust of the argument is something that can be presented to the republicans to see how they handle “liberal states’ rights”;

    Mueller gets a WARRANT for Facebook data. That means he MUST have evidence of a federal crime. That means Cambridge Analytica may be going down for collaboration with Putin in targeting voters, which means Mercer and Kushner are toast.

    Mueller added a THIRD attorney last week with expertise in money laundering. BOOM.

    Catalan separatists and supporters of the region’s right to hold a referendum on independence from Spain have held a rally backing more than 700 mayors facing the threat of arrest.

    The mayors have been called in for questioning by prosecutors for agreeing to facilitate the vote locally.

    They could be arrested if they do not attend and prosecuted for using public funds if they help stage the ballot.

    Madrid has promised to block the vote, saying it is unconstitutional.

    Catalonia’s regional government insists it will take place as scheduled despite a growing clampdown by the Spanish state.

    the usual tenet in investigations is to “follow the money”;

    but as we await the findings of Special Counsel Mueller, we may have to slightly modify this to “follow the money and legal brains/expertise” as this may be the path we take to “follow the subpoenas”

    Call the wanna be murders AGAIN and tell them to STOP trying to bargain away people’s LIVES!!

    Joy Reid:

    Reid used a damning list of facts to shut down the Republican plan:

    It repeals all the subsidies that people are currently getting to help them buy insurance in the private, in the individual market. It ends the Medicaid expansion. It has these vast transfers of spending with block grants that will extract money from big blue states like New York and give it to red states who didn’t expand Medicaid. It would overall cut Medicaid. It would eliminate the exchanges on the individual market, and it would allow insurance companies to charge higher premiums for people with preexisting conditions, essentially going back to the status quo where insurance companies could gouge you if you had a preexisting condition. I don’t really understand the politics of Republicans wanting to do that.
