SO PROUD OF OUR REAL PRESIDENT!..IF MY HEALTH HOLDS..MOVING IN WITH MY BROTHER IN ARIZONA IN APRIL…MY DREAM TO MINISTER TO YAVAPAI NATIVE AMERICANS WILL COME TRUE…:)
Good morning all. What a fine man Jimmy Carter is. Can anyone say another role model? Perfect? No,but who of us is? He would be the first to agree. But then, he and PO are humble and have integrity.
Wanted to make a quick stop and hello before heading to church. Our church and two others here in town have partnered with UMCOR to provide hygiene kits for Houston and now FL. We have close to 3000 and before we deliver to UMCOR, each one has to be opened and checked for accuracy. There’s specific directions. Will check back in this afternoon. Good day to all of you.
So, in my dream a few hours ago, Barack and I were having tea here. We were waiting for Michelle to arrive. I was washing the Obama pave midi beer glasses from the 2012 campaign, so maybe we were going to have beer!! Quiet conversation, Barack was reading. There were a couple of others nearby I couldn’t not see.
This is the third dream in which I’ve ‘met’ with PBO. It feels very real. All seems well, it was centered and peaceful. Woke up to find today’s email from The Obama Foundation: This Is Where We Go From Here.
How lovely and restorative. I know they are always with us. Sometimes they appear in dreams, sometimes it’s a slight flutter in your soul. We are all connected by virtue of our deeply held values and hopes for ourselves and each other and this earth we call home.
“September 13: Astrological Commentaries from Bali. Almost out the door to the airport but wanted to leave you all with the following:
Astrology is neither a perfected science nor solely an art form created by the intuitive faculties of the astrologer. Astrology is a discipline that combines certain elements of science, art, and intuition thus making it a unique field of study. Astrology is also a diagnostic tool that reveals the patterns of human psychology. It has been given to humanity so that we may begin to understand our personal roots in infinity as well as approach the higher Laws of Creation that govern our lives. Astrology, therefore, is not an end unto itself. On the contrary, it is a vehicle to yet a greater Path. The planets are but giant energetic centers expressing universal Principles and Truths revealing themselves in cyclic rotation. The job of the astrological student is to comprehend these celestial movements and then explain them for the benefit of one and all.
Blessings and love to everyone, Alan (Bom dia Lisboa!)”
Michelle and I want the @ObamaFoundation to inspire and empower people to change the world. Here's how we're getting started this fall. https://t.co/Q8a4voDXjV
Sociologists speak of race-averse (homes where race is not discussed) and race-aware households (homes where race is openly discussed). Children who grow up in race-averse homes tend to have a more difficult time dealing with race when they get older because they have less experience wrestling with it in their youth. White people are, by and large, living in race-averse communities that support their desire to not discuss race and thus often ending up struggling with how to deal with this complex, nuanced, emotional subject. This is not progress. Calling yourself color-blind is not progress—it’s insulting. Engaging with race, making serious efforts to understand race, understanding how systems shape our world and how white people consistently benefit from those systems to the detriment of others, and rejecting the backwards notion of white victimhood—that is the path to progress.
I love watching Law&Order, but one thing used to bug the hell out of me. Every time there is a teen killer that happens to be white, that teen killer gets to go see a psychiatrist and everything is done to understand that teen’s environment and home life. The system goes out of its way to show empathy to a teen killer if he or she is white. But if the teen killer is black, there is no effort to understand that teen’s environment or home life, the system does not have empathy for a teen killer if he or she is black. I know this is sounds petty because it’s just a tv show, but it reflects our society.
It reflects what the writers and producers think and feel about Black people, even sub-consciously. When you compare the white male driven media to the work of Black female writers and producers, you see two different worlds. Who is behind the camera reflects what is seen in the camera’s view and projected for the rest of the world to see. I am old enough to remember how television critics were happy with Good Times because it reflected how they saw Black as urban, poor, struggling and often silly (JJ), and incensed when the Cosby Show that featured an upper middle class family with professional parents. There were all of these articles about the show being unrealistic. The families that I grew up with and those that I know and relate to as an adult had more in common with the Cosby’s than the Good Times family. When I notice television shows or commercials that do not feed the stereotypes, I sometimes call or email them to let them know that I appreciate their efforts to show the variety of life beyond the ignorant stereotypes for Black people and other under-represented groups.
Especially with the Cosby Show, I remember the critics questioning the validity of the Cosby show. As if Blacks couldn’t be doctors and lawyers despite the fact that *HBCU’s were producing doctors and lawyers for damn near a century.
i think expanding Medicaid is the way to go to cover the other 10 percent who are not covered……improving .and building on what is the ACA…instead of starting all over again..(took over 50 yrs to get Obamacare)..we want Universal Coverage…lets be pragmatic on how we achieve it…
Not sure as to why so many Sen Dems are sponsoring a bill that is destined to go no where….McConnell will not be bringing this bill to the floor….that is for sure….
not sure…maybe to neutralize criticism from the Sanders crew….if you remember the NYT interview that Sanders did during the primary…he was asked how he would bring about single payer….he could not answer the question
sorry..it was the NY Daily News..they asked him how he would break up the banks…he could not answer….i think that Sanders is long on bravado short on details…it just sounds good….the ACA is over 1000 pages long…and took over a year to get done….Town Halls were held all over the country….did Sanders host one??…i think it is most telling the Pelosi who was pivotal in getting the ACA passed is not on board with Sanders Medicare for All bill…
This was so obvious that both Flynns were under investigation. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there are at least 27 House Republicans and 7 Republicans senators under FBI investigation too.
Don was talking about Law & Order and how it reflects our society. I/We watch some of the reruns too. The ones that Fred Thompson and other male actor Sam ????? are in, here’s what I’ve caught the second time around. Both of those roles reflect VERY clearly the GOP position on “law and order” and “justice” for the black or poor or downtrodden. Every one of those I watch, it is not just dog whistles. It is in your face clear. Sadly, I realize that when these shows were originally on and I watched them, I am sure those things went ‘over my head’, at least most of the time. I am ashamed to say at that time,I just wasn’t as tuned in to listen with a third ear or see with a third eye–as Joe Madison says all the time. Ashamed to say it was an example of my white privilege. 😦 😦 That hurts my heart to say that, but I know it is true. I have learned and grown SO much in the last 8-10 years. The many people on this blog have played a huge part in that and I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you.
Remain so thankful to Chips for beginning this community of sharing and love and support and teaching. Miss her (and Danny) so very much. NW, as we all say, thank you for keeping us going.
Thank you Don and TN for bringing up the show or rather the Law and Order franchise. Until several months ago I was still watching Law and Order when I realized it was probably one of the most racist shows on TV. I loved it when it originally aired and continued to watch it in syndication. But even as an African American I never realized until recently that it was a racist show. I just let it seep into my consciousness without thinking about what it meant and how my watching contributed to REAL LIFE racism in the criminal justice system. I’m so ashamed. Thank God I’m more conscious now and try to be careful about where I put my attention. My favorite shows are on OWN Greenleaf, Queen Sugar, Master Class, Black Love, and soon to air Released or Shonda Rhimes productions Scandal, HTGAWM, Grey’s.
I suspect that the same people that are upset with the way Colin Kaepernick is protesting would have been upset with the way MLK protested if they were of age back then. The one thing that the black man and black woman knows is protest, we were born in protest, we were forged in protest, and we will likely die in protest. And even death won’t stop us from protesting, we will not go meekly.
Actually, many were extremely upset with MLK and the entire movement. I was of age then and remember the animosity they had toward him and the entire movement. Many were jailed and many died protesting.
Huge story. Motel 6 in Latino neighborhoods in Phoenix apparently share their guest lists with ICE. “We send a report every morning." https://t.co/u1XyDmtohI
I’ll never understand why it is so hard for folk to realize they’re pissing in the wind until the focus is on those PROFITING from gun violence (and are financing not just the NRA + buying politicians, as well as, inciting and enabling fear and an unjust criminal system).
Until the laser focus #GunSense advocates of is on the WEAPONS PROFITEERS – their greed & liability – NOTHING WILL CHANGE, EVER.

i suspected that they had something to hide about the US gov’t and their honeymoon;
reason why I suspected it: because the wife immediately & defensively mentioned it (unsolicited) in her tweet to that lady who “dared” to make a criticism of her promotion of merchandise using the KY trip;
my immediate reaction was … where did the honeymoon come from …. quickly moving from one point to another unrelated point is an indication of something fishy
Dems better not be conned by this known lying scummy welcher’s words and do any more deals. twitler’s touch is shit on anything and everything. And dems are not known for great legislative maneuvers.
Good morning everyone. Because of her, we are a better nation. RIP Edith Windsor. Thank you.
Good Morning NW and DesertFlower!
Happy Wednesday TODVille!
Yes, we are. Thank you Edith Windsor. Good morning df. Hope you have a wonderful day. I wish the same for everyone here on TOD.
GET IT ON!!!

Hello, Dems? Anyone awake???
Amazingggggggggg….i love it…
I love it, too … that put a smile on my face!

To those white folks, let me explain it as simple as I can, you feeling oppressed is alot of BULL—SH!T.
hahaha
Thank you Bella for putting it so plainly. What nonsense. I wouldn’t even read any such article.
A good reminder we have lots of work to do and how we can all help.
A 29-year-old writer who works part-time at a bookshop in York has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for her debut novel.
Fiona Mozley, the second-youngest author to be up for the prestigious literary prize, wrote Elmet while commuting between London and York.
Emily Fridlund, another debut novelist, is also up for the £50,000 award.
So are fellow Americans Paul Auster and George Saunders, Britain’s Ali Smith and Pakistan-born Mohsin Hamid.
The winning book will be announced on 17 October.

I don’t think Flynn is going to let his son take the fall, whatever character he has left I think he will use it to protect his son.
This was so obvious that both Flynns were under investigation. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there are at least 27 House Republicans and 7 Republicans senators under FBI investigation too.
I think that whole is wider and deeper than 27 House Republicans and 7 Republicans Senators.

Hope to see you there!!
Hello, cd4! Thanks for the info but the tickets I’d buy are now all sold out. Hoping he’ll show up at a local bookstore for a signing……….
Let us know how it goes!
Will do, Meta. And I hope he appears at a bookstore near you, too.
TRAITORS …. every one of them …….
OMG!!!
Thank you for the tribute to Edie Windsor. Pioneering women remain the forerunner of many changes. RIP
They’d rather have their son back, but I’m so glad the Khans are still getting recognition for their courage!
Yuppers ….

You nailed it. What a detestable “couple.” Couple of thugs, in my book.
Yeah, right!
Yes, and I have a bridge that I would like to sell you.
Dems better not be conned by this known lying scummy welcher’s words and do any more deals. twitler’s touch is shit on anything and everything. And dems are not known for great legislative maneuvers.
The former president will be joined at the summit by his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama.
So dems are still sleeping? Where are the lawsuits? Playing the referee is how the thugs win. Dem think tanks suck.
According the Chuck and Nancy, the wall (Who’s going to pay for it? Mexico!) is coming down even before it has gone up.
Hopefully they haven’t forgotten these insults.
New post.
