    Thank you, Nerdy.

All of us will never forget where we were that day, how we learned of this travesty. The pain and suffering that followed, both here and abroad, are unfathomable and we are still feeling the ramifications of what happened that day now.

Trump Inc: Inside the president’s not-so-blind trust

Trump’s run for president likely started,as a marketing pitch. The problem is, he won

    Michael Tanglis

Seven days after Donald Trump announced his intention to seek the highest office in the land, he formed more business entities than he had on any previous day, available information indicates. All the entities were related to Trump projects in Indonesia. A few months later, Trump was joined on the campaign trail by a delegation of Indonesian politicians — who openly acknowledged they were there because of Trump’s investments in their country. One had previously been caught on tape soliciting a $4 billion bribe.

In total, Trump has formed at least 49 business entities since he announced his bid for the presidency. He continued to form businesses not only after winning in November, but also after assuming the presidency in January.

A detailed examination of Trump’s financial disclosure forms, as well as Delaware and New York business filings, shows that Trump’s run for president likely began as more of a marketing pitch than a genuine attempt to become the leader of the free world. The problem is, he won. And it doesn’t appear his priorities have changed. He did virtually nothing to separate himself from his businesses. In 2016,Trump owned a direct stake in more than 380 business entities — and held an indirect stake in many more. After becoming president, he transferred those direct ownership stakes to six different entities, mostly Delaware holding companies. But the transfer of ownership was meaningless; a revocable trust that was created to benefit him — and that he can assume control of at any time — sits at the center of it all.

Trump is truly a depraved person. As the President of the U.S and the supposedly “leader of the free world,” the least he could do in response to the devastating earthquake in Mexico is to offer Mexico, our neighbor, condolences, on behalf of Americans, for all the Mexican lives lost as a result of this historic and deadly earthquake. By the way–unless I totally missed it–I don’t think Trump has publically offered any condolences to the people in the Caribbean, including Cuba, who lost loved ones and who were devastated by hurricane Irma. Yet, the so called evangelicals are busy spreading false claims that Trump is a man of God who was chosen by God to lead America to economic prosperity and moral re-birth,

You want to know how strong or how weak a man is, look how he treats the opposite sex. I’m lucky in that I’ve been surrounded by strong women my entire life, be it my mother or my wife or the CEO at work. I’ve never been intimidated by strong women because I am secure in who I am as a man. My wife has always made more money than me and it does not bother me one bit, we often joke about it. Sometimes I’ll say to her “Boss lady, what are we doing this weekend?” Yep, we absolutely love being with each other because we make each other laugh and we do silly shit together.

Heard @justadcohen on the radio a few minutes ago, and he said Justice Kennedy’s stay was so that no more lower court decisions will muddy the waters before SCOTUS takes up legality of travel ban next month.

Andrew Cohen also said another lower court ruling vs. grandparents wasn’t affected, which means grandparents are considered family members for the purpose of the travel ban.

I actually think it is the Obama coalition more than anything, Hillary happens to be the easy target at the moment and President Obama campaigned for her. The racists and misogynists in this country will never get over the fact that PBO won a majority of the popular vote in two elections and had two landslides in the electoral college. THAT is what they want to break. And they are tearing the country apart in the process but they simply do not care.

    Evening TOD,
Power came back on in my area about a half hour ago and in the other areas where my family lives. There are still many over 200,000 without power, but the crews are working non-stop through the night to whittle this down. Trees and power poles are down two neighborhoods along the ST. Johns River are flooded because water came over the walls which are more decorative than effective. Many of them are waist length to me (5’4″”). No one allowed back into the beach communities yet. All in all, while it was worse than Matthew from last year, NE Fla. was not the nightmare of the lower parts of the state. My backyard is covered with severed tree tops, large pine tree fronds, branches and leaves, but the fence that I replaced after last year’s hurricane held firm. Keep Florida in your thoughts and prayers, and if you live I an unaffected area, keep an eye out for donating to organizations that will be helping with recovery. Off to check out what is happening in the rest of the state and the country after being cut off for hours. Just heard another transformer go off.

Dayum, someone is putting out fake news about looting in areas that were evacuated. Officials have to take time off from the recovery to put out the information that this is not true and that the areas are being patrolled.

Co-ordinated groups of Twitter bots pushing pro-Russian propaganda have developed an odd but occasionally effective strategy – retweeting messages that the bot-makers disagree with and flooding their enemies with followers.

Brian Krebs is an investigative journalist with a big social media following. But even he was surprised when one of his tweets was retweeted thousands of times:

“I woke up the next morning and found about 12,000 retweets… I also found I had about the same number of new followers,” he told BBC Trending radio. “Part of me wanted this to be true [and all the followers to be real].”

Krebs, who wrote about the experience on his blog, immediately suspected he’d been on the receiving end of a bot attack.

Bots – automated or semi-automated accounts which tweet or retweet automatically – have been at the centre of allegations of Russian interference in Western elections. US intelligence agencies claim that bots spread false news stories and misinformation during the 2016 presidential election campaign. And networks of bots were also involved in spreading memes, gifs and misinformation in the run-up to the French presidential election in spring 2017.

Good evening TOD. I hope everyone in the affected areas made it through the hurricane without too much damage. CEB, happy that you have power restored!

Woke up this morning, reflected on 9/11 and turned on my computer to see DT and Melania. It made me SICK! I realized just how much they defile everything about this country, and could not handle it. Decided to leave my tv and computer off for the day and reflect on the 8 years we had an honorable, compassionate couple in the White House. I’m not sure I understood the depth of my disgust for these people until today. I don’t think there is anyone else on earth that I despise the way I do this entire family and this entire administration.

Tonight I came here, and looked at Pete’s remembrances knowing they would be lovely. Thank you Nerdy Wonka for your never ending endeavor to provide us with a place where we can remember better times. I am not sure how the country will ever recover from this shameful time.

Trump promised not to work with foreign entities. His company just did:
“A major construction company owned by the Chinese government was hired to work on the latest Trump golf club development in Dubai despite a pledge from Donald Trump that his family business would not engage in any transactions with foreign government entities while he serves as president.. scheduled to open next year.” (Tribune Washington Bureau)

        GM Sheila.

I think more will be uncovered by investigative reporters.

        From the article:
“Much of the Russian Facebook propaganda campaign has since been deleted. But bits and pieces remain visible in search engine caches, including a 2016 notice on Facebook Events—the site’s event management and invitation tool—announcing an August 27 rally in a rural Idaho town known to welcome refugees.”

        Also from the article:
Facebook “declined to elaborate, except to confirm that the events were promoted with paid ads. (This is the first time the social media giant has publicly acknowledged the existence of such events.)”

        snip /

“‘This is the next step,’ Clint Watts, a former FBI agent and expert on Russia’s influence campaign, told The Daily Beast. ‘The objective of influence is to create behavior change. The simplest behavior is to have someone disseminate propaganda that Russia created and seeded. The second part of behavior influence is when you can get people to physically do something.'”

Background on why Twin Falls was targeted by RWNJ propaganda machine, from June 2016:

        • 104 arapaho415
          September 12, 2017 at 11:29 am

Putin has enlisted Drudge and other propagandists to rally RWNJ white supremacists against refugees, in areas of the country which have few refugees.

More from June 2016 Idaho Statesman article:
“‘Only a handful of people from Syria live in Twin Falls County — 11 Syrians were receiving food stamps in the county and eight were on Medicaid in 2015, according to state statistics. No Syrians have been settled in Twin Falls through Idaho refugee programs, said Jan Reeves, director of the Idaho Office for Refugees.

‘There have been periodic website postings about hundreds of Syrians coming to Idaho that have all proven to be false in the past, and this is probably just one of those attempts to try and stir up hatred and bigotry,’ he said.”

Did you all know this? Was this reported?

Equifax Inc., which said last week it suffered a breach that exposed the personal data of 143 million Americans, holds a contract to check incomes and other data of people who bought health insurance in the Obamacare markets.

The credit data firm has a $329 million, five-year government contract which ends in March to verify the incomes of people purchasing coverage through the health exchanges. The Affordable Care Act provides subsidies to help people afford health insurance depending on their income levels.

Government officials that administer the Obamacare program were informed the data wasn’t part of the breach and is continuing to monitor the situation, an HHS spokesperson said. The Equifax breach affected almost half the U.S. population. Equifax didn’t return questions seeking comment on Monday.

U.S. government contract data reviewed by Bloomberg shows the credit bureau is the only contractor doing income-verification work related to the Affordable Care Act. About $104 million of the contract has been paid out, according to the contracting data. The full total might not be paid because of overestimates of how many people would sign up for plans under the law.
