And that is Sharapova’s problem, she knows she is not on the level of Serena Williams and she hates that. She cheats and she still can’t beat her.

This is what pisses me off about Sharapova and to a greater extent Trump. By virtue of having white skin they are both afforded the luxury of failing upward. It has gotten to the point that if Trump chews his food with his mouth closed it is considered some great victory. Sharapova can come off a months long drug suspension and be afforded the opportunity of playing on center court at the US Open which is reserved for the top players. Its as if she’s battled back from a catastrophic injury as opposed to a self inflicted wound. With dope and with god knows what else, Sharapova still couldn’t beat Serena and trust me, it eats her up alive and it infiltrates every inch of her smug cheating soul. Like Trump, Sharapova knows deep down inside that both Serena and Barack are better than them in every way.

Most fearless young poetess. Going to stir the pot by saying that there’s a lot of freedom in being modestly dressed in India – and probably elsewhere. For me it was a ticket to be treated equally, taken seriously and with dignity. Just saying. Whut?

      • September 8, 2017 at 4:59 pm

There are many women and girls who are modestly dressed who are raped…children are raped…it is not the victims fault…it is on the rapist

        • September 8, 2017 at 5:27 pm

Yes of course. Many young girls who don’t know what’s going on get raped by their first boyfriend. All kinds of women are raped.
Have experienced a deep feeling of safety and protection from within by dressing intelligently. Especially in India. That’s all.

          • September 8, 2017 at 5:43 pm

As a teen…cut the hair to about and inch long and wore the heavy boots to protect myself. The poet in this video had a brutal introduction to the way some guys will try and intimidate a young girl. So proud she’s standing up.

Election Integrity Commission members accuse New Hampshire voters of fraud

    Source: The Washington Post

By David Weigel September 8 at 9:06 AM

Days before they meet in New Hampshire, members of the White House’s Election Integrity Commission have seized on a report about same-day registration to allege that massive fraud might have swung the state’s 2016 vote. Both voters and election experts say the allegation — accusing thousands of voters of criminal activity simply for living in New Hampshire but holding out-of-state driver’s licenses — are baseless.

The accusation arose Thursday morning, when Shawn Jasper, the speaker of New Hampshire’s Republican-run House of Representatives, released data on same-day registrants that he’d obtained from the secretary of state’s office. In November 2016, 6,540 voters had registered to vote on Election Day. As of Aug. 30, just 1,014 of those voters had obtained a New Hampshire drivers license. A few hundred voters did not obtain state licenses but had registered cars in the state.

That was enough for Jasper to allege thousands of fraudulent votes — and for Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the vice chairman of the commission, to flatly allege that fraudulent voters might have stolen the state’s four electoral votes and a U.S. Senate seat away from Republicans.

This is exactly why no Democrats should be on this sham commission. It’s only purpose is to target Democratic voters.

Spicer, Priebus, Hicks among six current and former Trump aides Mueller has expressed interest in interviewing for Russia probe
    September 8 at 3:27 PM

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has alerted the White House that his team will likely seek to interview six top current and former advisers to President Trump who were witnesses to several episodes relevant to the investigation of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, according to people familiar with the request.

Mueller’s interest in the aides, including trusted adviser Hope Hicks, ex-press secretary Sean Spicer and former chief of staff Reince Priebus, reflects how the probe that has dogged Trump’s presidency is starting to penetrate a closer circle of aides around the president.

    GA/GE TODville.

Wow, this is something else, a Republican from Kansas actually doing the *right* thing.

    From the article:
“U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder of Kansas said the news made him ‘apoplectic.’ He began working to help Sunayana Dumala maintain her residency after she traveled to India for her husband’s funeral and feared she could not return.

With his aid and others, Dumala said she has been granted a 1-year visa to resume her work at an Overland Park marketing agency.”

Drives me nuts that this country’s “laws” have become so heartless.

    Reminder from February:

i am still taken with Coates piece..

    like this passage…

The American tragedy now being wrought is larger than most imagine and will not end with Trump. In recent times, whiteness as an overt political tactic has been restrained by a kind of cordiality that held that its overt invocation would scare off “moderate” whites. This has proved to be only half true at best. Trump’s legacy will be exposing the patina of decency for what it is and revealing just how much a demagogue can get away with. It does not take much to imagine another politician, wiser in the ways of Washington and better schooled in the methodology of governance—and now liberated from the pretense of antiracist civility—doing a much more effective job than Trump.

    So, with Dolt45 and Irma….

Are they going to ship him off to Camp David like they did with Harvey, so that he’ll have another one of those idiot photos, while leaving the ‘ Presidential, taking care of stuff surrounded by everyone working’ picture to Pence?

Or, will he refuse to leave, thus denying Pence the opportunity to play President.

    • September 8, 2017 at 9:41 pm

      He’s already at Camp David.

I have no doubt Trump would be going to his golf course during these Harvey and Irma crises but for the fact that it’s not equipped with teleconference capabilities like Camp David. I’m sure he thinks it’s a big sacrifice.

Plus, I noticed (what somebody today named) Czar-a-Lago was evacuated. Or he’d be there. Hiding.

        • September 8, 2017 at 9:54 pm

YES, indeed. I guess he shuts Mar-a-Lago down for the season and that’s why he’s been going every weekend to Bedminster or Sterling or wherever the hell his other golf courses are. UGH.

“It smells of freshness, and of our deep respect for our leader,” the woman declared, smiling to the Russian TV camera.

A North Korean, she’d just sniffed a big red flower named after the country’s former leader Kim Jong-il.

Part of a series of glowing reports on everyday life in the secretive state, covering topics from fashion to food, the moment was broadcast to millions of Russians watching state television over their breakfast.

The coverage suggested Russia was taking a rather different approach over North Korea’s nuclear programme and its missile tests, two weeks after Donald Trump tweeted that the US military was “locked and loaded”, primed to respond with what he called “military solutions”.

Vladimir Putin has underlined those differences many times this week, warning against whipping up “military hysteria”, and insisting that North Koreans would rather “eat grass” under more sanctions, than give up their weapons programme.

And while he has criticised recent missile tests as “provocative”, he’s also taken pains to explain them.

North Koreans remember the 2003 US invasion of Iraq over Saddam Hussein’s alleged weapons programme, Mr Putin reasoned.

So the country sees becoming a nuclear state as its only sure-fire guarantee of self-defence.

    GE TODville.

Update on the terrifying storm, Irma:

    Historical perspective:

    From Wikipedia:
“The 1935 Labor Day Hurricane was the most intense hurricane to make landfall in the United States on record.”

    snip /

“The compact and intense hurricane caused extreme damage in the upper Florida Keys, as a storm surge of approximately 18 to 20 feet (5.5–6 meters) swept over the low-lying islands. The hurricane’s strong winds and the surge destroyed nearly all the structures between Tavernier and Marathon. The town of Islamorada was obliterated. Portions of the Key West Extension of the Florida East Coast Railway were severely damaged or destroyed. The hurricane also caused additional damage in northwest Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.”
