National Alert:
On August 28th Susan LaPierre, co-chair of the National Rifle Association’s Women’s Leadership Forum and wife of NRA Executive Director Wayne LaPierre, has landed a seat on the National Park Foundation’s board of directors. None of the four appointments were announced in a release by either the Interior Department or Park Foundation. Mrs. LaPierre’s was appointment by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. Early last month the Interior Department had ordered the National Park Service to reconsider wildlife regulations at odds with hunting and trapping regulations enforced by the state of Alaska. The National Park Service raised serious concerns in late June over a bill backed by the National Rifle Association, but they were disregarded entirely by the agency’s overseer, the Department of the Interior(Ryan Zinke). The NRA has sought to align itself closely with Interior officials. The gun rights group forcefully advocated for Ryan Zinke, a Montana Congressman, to lead the department when he was nominated by President Trump. After he was confirmed by the Senate, the NRA called the appointment “good news for gun owners.”
Congrats, Serena.
I heard that she went in to labor on Wednesday. She was induced on Thursday. On Sept 1st, 2017, The Queen of Tennis is a Mom at 35yo. I am so happy for her.

Now, the Russians are quickly finding out that the U.S. Justice system cannot be easily manipulated by a president they helped win.

Trump cuts “$300 million from FEMA before Hurricane Harvey,” but he thinks that he should be praised, as a benefactor, for pledging to contribute $1 million ( that is if he honors that pledge) towards the tens of billions of dollars that Texas (and Louisiana needs to recover and rebuild from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. I am sorry, but I am not impressed by a billionaire president who thinks he can run the United States government as his own personal fiefdom. If Donald Trump truly cared about the United States he would be willing to pay his fair of taxes, instead of trying to find loopholes to avoid paying taxes. And as President of the United States, who took an oath to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution, he should know that one the most important goals, enunciated by the framers of the U.S. Constitution, was the “promotion of the General Welfare” of all the people of the United States. I suppose it’s commendable that the billionaire Trump, as a private individual, is willing to pledge $1 million to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Sadly, Trump’s pledge is nothing but a drop in the bucket given the magnitude of Harvey’s destruction. What we the people want to know/hear is what PRESIDENT Trump pledges to do, as a matter of public policy, to deal with the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
