LONDON — Qatar restored full diplomatic relations with Iran on Thursday, the latest volley in an 11-week-old geopolitical feud that has set the tiny yet fabulously wealthy Persian Gulf nation against its neighbors and rattled a previously placid part of the Middle East.

    Inside Robert Mueller’s Army
To probe alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, the special counsel has essentially built his own miniature Justice Department. Meet the experts he’s recruited.

    Betsy Woodruff
    08.24.17 12:49 AM ET

In a secure location in southwest Washington, D.C., with access to a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility for classified material, 16 of the country’s top lawyers have passed the last several months working on an investigation that will likely be as consequential as it is secretive.

The following details—gleaned from conversations with people familiar with President Donald Trump’s legal team, as well as intelligence experts and friends of the people working for special counsel Robert Mueller—help explain the broad range of legal and counterintelligence experts he’s assembled. Mueller has essentially built his own miniature Justice Department.

–grandfather died of black lung though we called it siliconiosis. He’d have jumped for joy if there’d been an option to the brutal life
he and his sons led. Solar tops on every new roof!!! Please. Green Re-training for every wretch coal mining family in the land.

        August 24, 2017 at 10:39 pm

My grandfather was sent into the coal mines in Western Pennsylvania in 1896, when he was 11 years old, to help support his family. He was able to make sure his sons never went. He did not have black lung, but died with other conditions that no doubt started in the coal mines. God bless your grandfather, his sons, and all the others in and out of that occupation today … who – I agree – should never have to return to the mines.

“We cut the coal … ” — from Winston Churchill’s address to a conference of coal-mine operators and miners, 1942, on the importance of their work during WWII

I’m sure he is being treated as a terrorist/Russian agent. He doesn’t realize that those who follow him, feed on his violent rhetoric are being tracked by Homeland Security and the FBI and probably intel agencies. That’s why I referred to him as the cheese.

Speaking of eyeglasses, I saw a posting right after the eclipse that Astronomers without Borders are asking people to save their eclipse glasses to send them as they will be donating them to needy schools and places in South America and Asia for a future eclipse. They said to be watching for the address to send them to at a later time. They did say if you could not wait you could send them now to:

    Explore Scientific
    %Astronomers without Borders
    621 Madison Street
    Springfield, Arkansas
(No zip code was listed so you will need to look that up)

Seems like it should be Explore Science grammatically so it could have been a misprint on the title.

          Hey Bella,
Thank you. I think we need to tweet the Secret Service every time this happens because for me this is a matter of her security. This should not happen. Students should be disciplined for sharing pics of her because it jeopardizes her safety. That’s my main issue – her safety.

      • 75 Nena20409
        August 25, 2017 at 1:49 pm

Secret Service protection Coverage is limited for the Children after 6 months out of office unless it was requested & then approved for additional months of coverage by the next POTUS. VPs generally have 6 months protection after office. The Dick Cheney requested for additional 6 months coverage of which Pres Obama OK’ed for the Dick. Pres Obama & his wife would have SS protection for life. Bill Clinton signed a law that terminated Lifetime coverage protection…….starting with GWBush. After 9/11, it was changed back to almost how it used to be. The law kept the salary increase. With Clinton, it was annually at $200K or $250K. Starting with GWB, it became $400K.

Far-right activists are using fake Twitter accounts and images of battered women to smear anti-fascist groups in the US, an online investigation has revealed.

The online campaign is using fake Antifa (an umbrella term for anti-fascist protestors) Twitter accounts to claim anti-fascists promote physically abusing women who support US President Donald Trump or white supremacy.

Researcher Eliot Higgins of website Bellingcat found evidence that the campaign is being orchestrated on internet messageboard 4Chan by far-right sympathisers.

One image shows the slogan “53% of white women voted for Trump, 53% of white women should look like this”, above a photograph of a woman with a bruised and cut face and an anti-fascist symbol.

The woman pictured is actually British actress Anna Friel and the photograph was taken for a Women’s Aid anti-domestic violence campaign in 2007.

    my take:

one of the reasons why the homegrown demagogue has been blatantly lying about his reaction to Charlottesville is not because he has a conscience.

rather, the venom and denials is mainly because he is loosing money as more organizations disassociate themselves from having a business relationship with him.

money, power, and attention are among the things he treasures most … there is a hollow or dark mass where a heart ought to be

    • August 25, 2017 at 8:55 am

I agree that if it were not affecting his pocket, he would have given the “somber”, “serious???” speeches.

The problem for him is that he is not taking responsibility for his words and (in)action. He’s not even saying he was wrong. Instead, he is blaming others. For that reason — and others — his lack of sincerity shines through whenever he attempts to explain away Charlottesville.

Today on the other side of the oceans and mountains, today a guru was found guilty of raping many women, after ten years of multiple court hearings. And thousands of his women ‘followers’ turned out at the court to block him from getting into the court for the verdict. And his goons have so far turned two states into a war zone.

    Harvey, evacuations and narrow networks

    by David Anderson
    at 8:30 am on August 25, 2017

Instead the concern that I have is for urgent but not life threatening emergency care. If an evacuee has an asthma attack and needs to go to an urgent care, that clinic might not be in network although every in-network clinic could be under water. If someone is having a significant anxiety flare-up and needs to talk with a mental health professional and there are no in-network mental health professionals within 100 miles that is currently open, that is a problem. If someone has a tumor where the current course of guideline concordant care is watchful waiting and needs an advanced scan to continue the watchful waiting, the nearest available in-network scanner might be seven counties away.

These are the tough cases of narrow networks in a major, prolonged evacuation. Most people in a short term evacuation will be able to defer their care needs without significant harm. But there are a class of cases which are urgent and should not be deferred but will not qualify as standard emergency care. These are the problems.

If you are in this class of people, the first thing to do is call your insurance company and try to get a pre-authorization. They don’t want to pay out of network prices but they really don’t want to be sued for breach of contract for denying you medically necessary care that their network is incapable of providing. They really don’t want to be highlighted on the 6 o’clock news for doing that. You might not get pre-authorized to the doc that you want but you should get a pre-authorization. Secondly, save the bills. Save all your documentation. Save your notes from the phone calls including the first and last name of the person you talked with, time, date, questions, answers and follow-up questions needed for clarification. If things get messy, a complete contemporary paper trail is a wonderful thing.
