On Rachel Maddow great segment w/ Sherrilyn Ifill, cousin of Gwen Ifill, law professor, President & Director Counsel of NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She’s has no more ‘effs lying around being idle-like. 🙂 This is tonight’s show, so will look for link.
I agree she is awesome….she has clarity of the issues…and clarity of what we need to do…In these days and times…when there is so much JIVE being tossed around…it is good to see folks with a moral compass …i have to follow them…i see Rev Barber is much the same way
We should destroy every Confederate statue in America and replace them with figures of the Obamas elect the impeachment ready dem majority in both houses just to piss off the KKK & Nazis to remove a world threat.
The great irony is that white people who are the empowered, privileged race have to use the weapons of song and poetry from the most marginalized oppressed group in the country to express their sorrows, fears, and pain. Their privilege has not required them to create an oeuvre to express these feelings. Note: as most of the regulars probably know, the writer of Amazing Grace was a white slaver who penned the song after coming safely through a storm at sea, however, he did not stop his slave-dealing ways.
Rachel Maddow’s first segment last night was a solid lesson in history. And she concluded with the president today is trying to bring these fascist, white supremacist groups back to the center of American life: this was not an accident, it is on purpose. This was not a careless mistake. “Heads UP”
This explains so much…where in the history of mankind does the side that committed treason get such laurel…there was never a real accountability for the treasonous Confederates
There was a political deal re: a contested election. Federal troops being removed from the South was part of the agreement. Afterward, the KKK, end of voting rights, economic and educational oppression, and no Black representation in Senate for over 100 years.
yessssssss…i can see why the history was not told ..not must for the black folks who were slaves…but for all the white families who lost their sons…it is truly immoral ..and of course they hid all of that…
and…why don’t we ever hear from the Sons and Daughters of the UNION soldiers…when there is talk of the Civil War…the focus is only on the Confederacy…what about the Union soldiers…there is so much to unpack…
Charlottesville is a beautiful, liberal city — pretty much a college town because of UVA. I’d advise anyone who can to visit. It’s sad that it has this black eye because of Nazi idiots invading and rioting.
waiting a few days to know the real reason why banon gave that interview to that specific publication …… something does not add up ….. we will see;
I also note that he took the opportunity to give Democrats unsolicited “advice”;
=> “advice” claiming that continuing to use “identity politics” will guarantee that he and the gop would win so much;
….. makes me think that this is a trick to cower those Democrats who listen too much to beltway advice;
…….. and also manipulate those Dems and the “revolutionaries” who were already trying to push the party against inclusion and diversity and focus on “white working class”
Some good news (personal) our adopted dog finally came home today. He had kennel cough for 2 weeks.. and then got neutered, so we had to wait an additional week. Turns out he’s 4 yrs old and is a Cane Corso. He’s really handsome, but I can see he will need a good long adjustment period. Anyway, should be an adventure 🙂 Trying to keep my rage at a simmer as much as possible.
Tonight on @maddow I talked about what Congress can do to "contain" Trump & white supremacy. Here's your cheat sheet. Share it! https://t.co/8UhD0UXLGF
From the article:
“Among other things, he [the fired assistant principal who was fired by the Texas school] wanted the evil alligator’s minions to look more like a cartoon meme of Muslim women in burkas.”
This is how young minds are poisoned – the ‘water supply’, i.e. the education system, is contaminated with RW kooks like this guy who can’t contain his nuttiness.
Imagine what this idiot’s own children are programmed to think day in and day out.
Or How a racist ideologue could infiltrate Office of Naval Intelligence w/o detection & run proRussian information ops in USA & France. https://t.co/9k1ZQNlAUZ
But breathlessly reported for days it was imminent? That's why palace intrigue tweets by press corps aren't worth reading. Usually wrong! https://t.co/zxgoLgCBeL
Nobody cared about Secretary Clinton’s email server. The Rightwing used it as a wedge issue and faked outrage and the MSM used it as entertainment. And here we are with a White House where the “President” uses twitter to issue policy statements.
If you do a Twitter search for Camp David, lots of speculation that FUBAR is planning to resign, or something to that effect (like House of Cards, I guess, have never seen that show), like this one:
Pence called back early to a Camp David meeting. My guess-WH has gotten word Congress might censure Trump when they go back into session.
Don’t think that will happen, but confusing since MSM is reporting that the topic will be either Afghanistan or North Korea… and Bannon “leaked his thoughts about China and North Korea to @prospect).
Just realized that NBC’s tweet referred to “South Asia” which is probably Afghanistan, not North Korea, but CBS radio news reported that North Korea will be discussed.
It just broke that the leader of the Nazis in Charlottesville is from Indiana and was employed in Pence's Dept of Family Services. pic.twitter.com/ukxsvkTjNn
Nothing more beautiful than monuments that honor treasonous racists who murdered their fellow Americans for the right to own other humans… https://t.co/DL4RVI5Nb5
Beauty??? You are a full-on confederacy apologist at this point. How can you be the commander in chief and revere literal treason? https://t.co/E38cOUxaQy
Unlike Trump, some did learn from history: descendents of Lee and Jackson want the statues taken down. And Lee never wanted them anyway. https://t.co/zyz8g26zRk

there was an Abington Community Vigil/Rally for Peace and Equality in my neighborhood last evening…about 200 folks came out
It was a gathering for a cause in Cresmont Park…legislators, commissioners…county reps… members of the NAACP…members of varied faiths…Christianity, Judaism, Islam…young families…older members of the community along with our talented youth from Abington and Cheltenham high schools…all with different colors on their faces….Each person spoke about how there is strength & nobility in our diversity…called out the evils of Nazism, white supremacy…anti-semitism……some challenged us to decide what we can do to make our part of the world more equal…more just… it was a remarkable evening….glad to have been there💥
You are pushing to turn over our beloved National Park Service system to your buddy band of thieves for greed and profit. So SHUT UP. https://t.co/i4F1BIQpbG

Good evening TOD
Love this photo of our POTUS eating real tacos! 🙂
Isn’t it great? 😍
Good Evening! Congrats on 1st!

One of my favorite poems, and poets/persons. Thanks for these uplifting tweets, Dudette. 🙂

Yep
Gotta love this: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/aug/16/canadian-woman-engagement-ring-carrot 😂😹
I concur with this lady…
8 years of cool vs 8 months of fool. Not cool.
I knew Ft Bragg was. We were stationed there several times. It’s the base where my Dad retired from the Army.

This the field where PBO used to land in Marine One. These white supremacists want to hold their rally here.
Nazis are not allowed to rally in Germany…Why are they allowed to rally here…
And they failed to do anything after one of their own was seriously injured while her staff and constituents were killed.
Charlottesville is a beautiful, liberal city — pretty much a college town because of UVA. I’d advise anyone who can to visit. It’s sad that it has this black eye because of Nazi idiots invading and rioting.

Congrats! Hug that doggie a lot. The rage will fade away.
thanks Dudette 🙂
Congratulations! I’m so glad you finally got to take your dog home.
The other end of the leash is a great book on working with dogs, especially those with behavioral issues
Now, goodnight TOD ….

Really scary stuff
Y’all have surely seen this. I was laid up, so I missed it when it came out. [sigh!]
Sure do miss having a real President.
I missed this too
nythugs have been the main enabler of the twitler thug for decades.
Seth tonight is on fire! Telling it!❤
His monologue.
She is probably not the first to “earn” it, but the first to be allowed to gain what she has earned.
GM Dudette.
FUBAR truly is the 21st century’s Pandora’s Box.
From the article:
“Among other things, he [the fired assistant principal who was fired by the Texas school] wanted the evil alligator’s minions to look more like a cartoon meme of Muslim women in burkas.”
Beyond disgusting.

Good. What an idiot.
SMH.
Let him go to Trump U.
❤️🐶
Every now and then Matty here has a good point
Context for MSM’s abysmal coverage of Campaign 2016, and how they’re still defending the horror that they actively promoted:
Nobody cared about Secretary Clinton’s email server. The Rightwing used it as a wedge issue and faked outrage and the MSM used it as entertainment. And here we are with a White House where the “President” uses twitter to issue policy statements.
amen
In these open carrry states…our time of reckoning may be upon us..
I might have to subscribe to TeenVogue. They are awesome.
GE/GM TODville.
I realize that only Dudette is still here (and it’s nearing 2am for her!), but for those who may scroll up to see this…
re: Bannon’s call to Robert Kuttner of @prospect (progressive magazine — ?) re: North Korea…
And summoning Pence back from Panama to attend “National Security” meeting at Camp David this weekend…
But other sources say Camp David’s agenda is Afghanistan.
If you do a Twitter search for Camp David, lots of speculation that FUBAR is planning to resign, or something to that effect (like House of Cards, I guess, have never seen that show), like this one:

Don’t these people plan anything? Afghan meeting at the last minute and/or just no coordination with VP – this is mind-boggling.
good morning everyone!
have a great day
Good morning back you.
Morning everyone. Trying to catch up. He’s still there? Well, so are we.
