      And Turdman has decided to ‘redecorate’ the wh, using our money, to make it tacky enough for his lowlife taste, whereas PBO waited nearly 18 months, as I recall, before such an undertaking. Mind, the distinctive and intuitive changes both PBO and MO served only to enhance and reveal how beautiful The People’s House was to them, and to us.

      President Obama got so much done in his first few months in office because he’s an intelligent, hardworking organizer unlike the current lazy idiot in the White House.

        Tally, you’ve outdone yourself, far surpassing the highly paid pundits who apparently missed the significance of Russia-connected Jim Justice switching parties:

        Thorough background in this thread (embedded in tweet I sent you):

        More on Jim Justice, and what else, Russia…

        My stomach is in knots, which happens every. single. weekend. as I catch up on news. Ugh.

        A Twitter search for Jim Justice news yields only one tweet mentioning the 34 GOP governorships, from a verified account with this Twitter bio:

        “Advisory Board @ Donald J. Trump for President • PR & Political Consultant • Commentator @FoxNews @FoxBusiness @CNN @CNNi @MSNBC”

            GM Betsy.

            On paper, Americans have the opportunity to get rid of the #OneNationUnderKoch critters in DC next year.

            But ALL GOP are indebted to Koch, and one of the BIG underlying goals of #OneNationUnderKoch is to change the constitution to have state legislators/governors appoint congresscritters, not by votes cast by citizens.

            And yes, the news about federal grand juries this week was encouraging, but consider HOW SLOWLY FGJs work:

            Eighteen months from the time the FGJs were convened is about when 2018 elections are scheduled to occur…

            • 44 Betsy
              August 6, 2017 at 11:45 am

              I have a strong feeling this will go a lot faster than is typical because of the demands of social media; the damage that’s being done everyday to our democracy, and the dedication to our country by the intelligence community.

                August 6, 2017 at 12:15 pm

                I hope you’re right, Betsy.

                I know nothing about the jurors empaneled on a FGJ, but not many people could (or would be willing to) commit to being a juror for 18 or more months.

                And how quickly can they act if they meet only once a week, for less than a full day?

          I am glad to know about this connection regarding a constitutional convention. This is another ploy by the Birchers to set up their insane vision for our country via Koch money. They will only get so far and the country will have a moment of extreme regurgitation and these folks will find themselves once again in the wilderness. Russia will find its over reach will result in the removal of Putin and the loss of billions of dollars among their oligarchs. Hopefully, Russia can find a way to have their wealth returned to them for domestic use.

            GM catrst.

            Based on your posts here, I know that you’re old enough to remember “All In the Family” — me too! — which was a staple in our house when it aired (IIRC, CBS aired All In the Family, followed by Mary Tyler Moore, followed by Newhart [with another 1/2 hour show between AITF and MTM, perhaps “Bernie Loves Bridget?” — could be misremembering the sequence, but this was a lineup I’m familiar with).

            Another bolt of lightning occurred to me when the Kennedy Center announced that Norman Lear is an honoree this year… today’s pundits need look no further than the theme song to “All In the Family” to understand what motivated FUBAR voters, whether they live in cities or rural areas, whether they’re flat-earthers or Berniebro Dudes (i.e., RWNJs or LWNJs):

            “Boy the way Glen Miller played
            Songs that made the hit parade.
            Guys like us we had it made,
            Those were the days.

            And you knew who you were then,
            Girls were girls and men were men,
            Mister we could use a man
            Like Herbert Hoover again.

            Didn’t need no welfare state,
            Everybody pulled his weight.
            Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
            Those were the days.”

            P.S. My other lightning bolt realization in June was this nation’s slight alteration of our Pledge of Allegiance: “One Nation, Under Koch…”

      I have come to describe Barack Obama is unusually sane. I borrowed this from a writer in our faith community that was born in the mid eighteen hundreds. He described a rare person that comes on the scene and has more vision than others, more compassion, more leadership ability. I thought to myself if I use that term, which I agreed with completely when describing Barack Obama and his wife as well, it bypassed all the other criticisms that have been used against those that recognize his rare nature like all of us here. We aren’t hero worshiping here just recognizing this wonderful trait. Also right now with the Trump era and the GOP descending into infamy I think its a great way to describe our forever president. Another thought to add to that, recognizing that, continuing to try to emulate his direction and methods makes us more sane as a country.

        Can I say that my sense of why African Americans more than any other group have a sanity and wisdom about them is first their struggles and then their answer to those struggles. I believe that its the choice to overcome evil with good that brings this about. Its very spiritual in nature and the outcome of this is plain to see once someone is looking for it.

      From the article:
      “The US Air Force announced Friday that it has finalized a deal to purchase two already-built aircraft from Boeing to serve as the next generation of Air Force One, flying future presidents around the world for decades to come.

      A Boeing spokesperson told CNN the two aircraft in question were originally destined for a now bankrupt Russian airline.”

      You can be sure that Boeing will be well treated as long as Patrick Shanahan is #2 man at Pentagon:

        Replying to you since you’re in the LA area.

        Last year I went to a Goodwill sale in the Burbank area (I’m always confused when I’m in the Burbank-Glendale area because so many streets run diagonal to the east-west/north-south alignment that I’m used to).

        My local Goodwill handed out flyers for this event, which was billed as something like “Fashions through time” — and promised vintage-era clothing from the beginning of the 20th century onward.

        I ended up not going inside because the line was too long and moved too slowly, and comments from people leaving weren’t encouraging.

        Anyway, one of the women in line with me was a dead ringer for the lady in the white skirt in this photo — she was dressed pretty much like this (including head scarf). Her friends were eager for 1950s fashions too.

    About Why ā€œThe Talkā€ is Necessary and Affirming Black Girlhood
    Awesomely Luvvie — August 4, 2017

    In a world where simply being born with Black and brown skin puts you behind in the starting race of life, it’s important that we equip our children with what they need to handle it. We’ve had a Black president, yet we still have to deal with people calling us derogatory words, or telling us we are ugly simply for having melanin. We still need to work twice as hard to get half as far. And we need to be cognizant of how we walk through the world because it’s a life and death situation. Our survival depends on it.

    These are things that we don’t have the privilege to ignore or act like they aren’t facts. This is why when Proctor & Gamble’s My Black is Beautiful The Talk video dropped, I was in my feelings. My eyes were sweating before I could even realize it, because there is this visceral recognition of how unfair it is for Black children, and the parents who have to make them grow up faster than they wish.

      I’m glad that Al Giordano spoke out.

      It really rubbed me the wrong way that they highlighted “high-end,” as if PBO and #ForeverFLOTUS had to dig into their piggy bank to enjoy a birthday dinner for this nation’s last legitimate President.

      Even if they dined on $250 plates, it’s no one’s concern how much the dinner cost — it’s their dime and their time.

      Infuriates me no end that MSM seem to expect Barack and Michelle to be driving around in a 1970 Rambler (or whatever) — as if they’re purposely trying to erase their accomplishments and their profound history. Grrr.

    When a genealogist traced Michelle’s family tree through her father’s side of the family to its slave past, descendants of the slave-holding white Shields were all longing to meet her, to have a connection. Michelle refused to have anything to do with that mess, not even commenting when the articles and interviews appeared. She owed these people nothing and ignored them. If she had shown up on ybrse folks’ door step when she was only Michelle Robinson, you can bet they would not have been welcoming. Michelle is not here for anyone’s phony act.

    I get tired of these groups of democrats who always use republican talking points to undermine people in the democratic party;

    ;

    most times, the republicans set out to deliberately destroy the very effective fearless Dems and promote the weak ones who they can then beat at the ballot;

    ;

    but somehow, there is always a certain group of Democrats who are so terrified of republicans, or who will repeatedly fall for this devious republican plan all, and publicly back-stab or undermine fellow Democrats;

    ;

    heck, we see that these Democrats even adopt their language;

    ;

    there is no doubt that republicans are terrified of the effectiveness or Speaker-for-life Pelosi in the same way they were terrified of the effectiveness of PBO;

    ;

    so what do some cowardly Democrats do, they act exactly as the republicans expect and then trash-talk or distance themselves from the effective leaders, turn into republican-lite and of course demoralize their democratic base;

    ;

    I just listened to krystall ball, a person who could not even win her own congressional race, once again state how it is best for Democrats not to associate themselves with Speaker-for-life Pelosi. this ticked me off;

    ;

    here is my advice to all Democrats: run your race by focusing on what yo want to do for the people and NOT on bashing other Democrats who are not the people causing havoc in the nation;
    ;

    end of rant, …… now breathe, Linda.
