Tropical theme, got as much Hawaii as I could (the kiosk should have sunglasses above the lei, but unfortunately I knocked it over, so the sunglasses aren’t in photo 😦 ).
There’s a native Hawaiian succulent (Portulaca Molokini, left rear), a native (amk)-Indian plant (Codiaeum, right rear), and seashells on the rim of the powder blue pot.

Whew! Finally got through these threads and am caught up. 🙂 Been a crazy busy day. (Yesterday also.) Loved, loved, loved all the pictures, tweets, videos. arapaho, loved your flowers. Thanks for sharing. Just another post to make me smile. I’ve also cried at some of the pictures of our #Forever44. The story about the watch from the SS–I had never heard that story. As I worked here in my kitchen, I listened to his Nobel Peace Prize speech and the Selma speech. The Selma one will hold me, at least for awhile. Inspire and help keep me #Resisting.

His devotion for today is entitled ‘Never Weary.’ He uses the verse: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” He shares the story of Reverend Lowery traveling with them sometimes. One day in Iowa, someone thanked him for fighting for “the younger generation.” Rev. was 89 at the time and said, “Son, I’m not just fighting for you. I’ve got a lot of life left and I’m fighting for me too” Joshua’s prayer is: Dear God, grant me the energy for a new struggle. Let me never grow weary in doing good. ***A note at the bottom says this devotion was sent to PO on his birthday. After listening (again) to his speeches, I was amazed at how fitting that devotion is for PO and especially on his birthday.

You made being President LOOK so easy and smooth even when things were rough and many others were breathlessly asking you to DO something, all the folks at TOD knew “YOU HAD THIS”! You made Presidenting look so easy the fool that got the job after you had to admit that “ITS A HARD and DIFFICULT job that he is loosing his mind, can’t take enough vacation days, and wants to go back to his old life. Unforturnately, he will end up in prison because he was too stupid and foolish to know was too inept in doing anything other than what he was doing before.
This has been the BEST day since January 20! Thanks to everyone who posted videos, tweets, etc. Some things I had missed such as the last West Wing Week (thanks Meta!). For one day I was able to pretend this incredible man was still out president:-) Memories are a wonderful thing.
No president in history has received the outpouring of well wishes from such a diverse group of people during his lifetime. No one other than family and friends know the birthdates of any of the other living presidents and even if they did, there would be no recognition of it. President Obama opened himself, his family and his administration up to all kinds of people from all over the world and from many different backgrounds. His interest in people was real, he really saw the people he met. He was interested in their stories and sought ways to connect them to his and to the greater human story. He walked what he talked and this integrity drew many to him. He always turned the attention back to us, it was never about him. So thousands are happy to take the time to send him messages of love and appreciation an various media outlets have joined us by publishing photo essays in celebration.
