The Obama Diary 
As someone said on last thread, this has been the BEST day on TOD since our forever #44 left. Again, a HUUUUUUUUUGE thank you to everyone, especially NW and our dear Chips who created this space.
We needed to celebrate PBO’s birthday probably more then he did. It helped us to remember what is possible, that only a few months ago hope and possibilities reigned and that we could do anything. We remember to heed our better angels because of his example and we remember how our children flowered and walked forth with confidence because of his love and his belief in them. Observing his birthday fires us up, renews or spirit and our will to get up and jump once more into the breach to rescue our country and ourselves, to set aright the injustices of these times and of the not-so-distant past, to remember that we are our brothers and sisters keepers even when they hate us. So once again, Happy birthday to our beloved President Barack Hussein Obama who taught us to love ourselves and each other and to work for the common good.

Breaking per New York Times: Special Counsel Mueller has sent his first request to the WH, for documents that relate to Flynn
WASHINGTON — Investigators working for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, recently asked the White House for documents related to the former national security adviser Michael T. Flynn, and have questioned witnesses about whether he was secretly paid by the Turkish government during the final months of the presidential campaign, according to people close to the investigation.
Though not a formal subpoena, the document request is the first known instance of Mr. Mueller’s team asking the White House to hand over records.
In interviews with potential witnesses in recent weeks, prosecutors and F.B.I. agents have spent hours poring over the details of Mr. Flynn’s business dealings with a Turkish-American businessman who worked last year with Mr. Flynn and his consulting business, the Flynn Intel Group.

Good morning everyone! Happy day after Obama day, and what a day it was.
I just have a little piece of good news to share, which I know POTUS and FLOTUS would be happy about. First a little background.
Jesse and Gilmer Diaz, who escaped from El Salvador a number of years ago, take care of my lawn. They are a wonderful couple, and have also been especially good to me since my beloved passed. Their children have gone to school here, and two have graduated from high school. I just learned that their daughter received a $78,000 scholarship to Vassar! They are flying to New York with her this week to take her. I am thrilled for them. They work six days a week, taking only Sunday off for church. They also go to thrift stores every month, and send clothes to their family still in El Salvador. Just had to share this uplifting news, because I know you all care.
Oh my goodness, carolyn. That makes me smile BIG. What a beautiful and uplifting story. Thank you for sharing with us.
