Good Afternoon, Nerdy. Thank you for keeping the village up and running. It is very much appreciated.

TOD Family, enjoy the rest of your day!

Good afternoon Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Wednesday afternoon. Congrats Tally, on being first this afternoon.

Nerdy, thanks so much for helping Ms. Chips and for the sacrifices you’re making for us TOD’ers. 💫🙏👌👊❤

To all, you can’t control the movement of time, you can’t control when the sun will rise, nor can you control when the sun will set; but you can control how you respond to this glorious life given to you today. ❤ ❤ ❤

I am thankful to God that I lived to witness one of the greatest President of The United States of America in President Barack Hussein Obama ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆

What a mind, what a heart, what a spirit, what a generous brilliant earnest human being. Thank you for this reminder and celebration of POTUS just having a POTUS-style day, just being him doing him showing up to take care of the job he sought out and did with more goodness genius integrity courage strength and brilliance than ANY POTUS EVER. We have no POTUS now, and the vacuum, the barren wasteland and toxic bilge pond that is evident everywhere the bad one goes, is in stark, chilling contrast to where we were and what we had. I choose to see how good it was, and how good he still is, and how much good he created that cannot ever be undone denied or destroyed (and God knows they try every day). May every horrid action the bad man and all his cronies and creepy criminal colleagues be a light-bulb coming on in the head of another good person who just didn’t want to believe that people and things coould really be all that bad. They can, they are, and every day more people see it and say it and begin to think about how to resist it. Thank you NerdyWonka, all day every day. Busy times for me but I come here and I read and I am blessed and educated always. May it all come back to you multiplied, all the good you do. Love to all y’all, TOD family.

45ers are learning that they won’t be able to lie/filibuster their way out of answering questions. Auntie Maxine has taught the other legislators well.

The question was about the actions, not the terminology. As usual, the guilty dodge and insult to waste time and to get out of a direct answer. What these entitled ones do not realize, and you think that they would after watching PBO for 8 years, Black people brush white folks’ insults off. We know what they think of us and what they are capable of doing to destroy anyone who questions them so we expect this and we have had a lifetime of learning how to deal with it and to stay focused on what we want to do. We brush it off and keep it moving. Look at what we have endured over the centuries and we are still here, shoulders to the wheel, pushing on to the realization of the American dream for ourselves and future generations. We are not going anywhere, we are not going to kill ourselves and we are not going to live lives of despair. We love, create, work, sing, laugh, dance and care for family and community. We serve, we educate, we worship, we pray. We live lives that are more than the story of racism’s sting. Nothing has stopped us and nothing will. We are here to stay.

      • August 2, 2017 at 4:08 pm

One thing about PBO…they did not know how to read him because he didn’t let emotions dictate his actions nor did he respond the way they expected.

Out of necessity Black people have had to learn to rein in our emotions — brush things off. In the process, we’ve had to hone our skills to be sharper mentally, more inventive in our responses, and more keen in our intelligence/wisdom/common sense…at least most of us have (I hope).

        And yes, we’ve found creative and spiritual outlets to make ourselves stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally; that help us to live and to survive;

Sure didn’t notice Hillary Clinton acting like this, nor saying she was being harrassed, when questioned for 9 hours. Poor little pets don’t like having to accept the consequences of their actions.

INORITE?!?!?! Problem is, they think they’re the smartest kid in the room in addition to being privileged. The rules are always supposed to be in their favor. When these things are not the case, they feel that they have been wronged/mistreated.

“Trump loves to brag about how the stock market is doing — but Obama’s rally was much bigger”

On Tuesday, the U.S. Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a record high — and President Donald Trump hasn’t missed any opportunities to take credit for the soaring stock market — but both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama oversaw stronger gains in the economy in the first six months of their first terms.

“Top EPA official resigns over direction of agency under Trump”

A top Environmental Protection Agency official resigned Tuesday in protest of the direction the EPA has taken under President Trump.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Southerland ended her 30-year run at the agency with a scathing exit letter in which she claimed that “the environmental field is suffering from the temporary triumph of myth over truth.” She last worked as the director of science and technology in the Office of Water.

“The truth is there is NO war on coal, there is NO economic crisis caused by environmental protection, and climate change IS caused by man’s activities,” Southerland wrote, directly rejecting many of Trump’s claims.

Southerland said that since EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt took over the agency, dozens of regulations designed to protect the environment had been repealed, and Trump’s proposed budget cuts to the agency would devastate its ability to enforce existing protections and create new ones.

Amid deep uncertainty about the fate of the cost sharing reduction payments (CSRs) to insurers that subsidize health insurance for the sickest Americans, and with the Trump administration publicly toying with cutting off the payments, Congress may take matters into its own hands.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), who chairs the committee that oversees health care policy, is shopping around a proposal to appropriate funding for the CSRs for one year, giving some stability to an insurance market that right now is at the mercy of Trump’s month-to-month whims.

“I hope to get a consensus about how to stabilize the individual market, keep premiums down, keep insurance companies in the individual market so people can buy affordable insurance,” Alexander told reporters Wednesday, saying he hopes to pass such a bill before the end of September, when insurance companies will submit their 2018 rates. “I would expect them to lower their prices as a result of the certainty that Congress is providing.”

“America’s immigration ignorance threatens to push the economy into crisis”

The U.S. economy pays the price

Emotional and psychological stress are inevitable byproducts of a convoluted legal immigration system, but they aren’t its only casualties. For many, the H-1B process corrodes the idea of the American dream sold abroad.

Even with the H-1B visa, there isn’t a clear path to residency or citizenship — a bleak reality that can discourage others from coming to the United States.

The Trump administration has ushered in a hostile environment for both documented and undocumented immigrants. Hate crimes, xenophobia, and racism haunt many of the people trying to stay in the country.

Where the United States is set to lose, others will gain. The Canadian government has already launched a new Global Skills Strategy visa program, making it easier for companies to hire foreign workers in the tech and business sectors. Such perks are among the reasons students are increasingly looking to Canada and Europe, where prospects seem brighter. Jobs aren’t the only reason for that trend — those who continue to pin their hopes on the United States are also struggling with an increasingly hostile and violent environment for immigrants of all backgrounds.

Until they’re replaced, we have to rely on GOP turning against horrid policies out of their own sense of self-preservation.

I find it extremely frightening that a foreign power could be thinking about intervening to “save a democratically elected President”. All those interventions the US has tried in other countries over the years – and they could be on the receiving end.
