I spoke with my daughter earlier today, and she told me she has been promoted to a supervisory position on her job. My baby is very, very shy, and I’d been pushing her to assert herself and remind her boss of the contributions she’s been making to the job. Well, last month, she summoned the courage to do that, and she was informed of the promotion a few days ago. I congratulated her and told her how proud of her I am for lobbying for a step up the corporate ladder. She’ll travel from Alabama to South Carolina for training next month. We have to teach our girls to know their self-worth and to assert themselves on their jobs. My daughter’s boss knows she’s a good employee and knew he had to do something or lose her. She had applied for another job in her field with one of her employer’s competitors, and I think that news got back to her boss. Anyway, it’s a win-win for her.

Congratulations to your daughter for her promotion. I’m sure she will do well. The promotion will be a good motivator. And good for you, majiir, for encouraging her to step up and assert herself. 🙂

Yep, They say one thing and vote another way and do nothing to stop this national nightmare. All they have to do is ask themselves what they would do if Obama or Hillary had done even one of the many outrages 45 has perpetrated on the country and the world. They would have come up with a quick answer and would have executed it by now. They are not moving to remove 45 because there are still some benefits to them to have him there. It is bs that their hands are tied. All of them can stfu until they move to impeach or to arrest.

Please continue Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ)…
“With hindsight, it is clear that we all but ensured the rise of Donald Trump…It was we conservatives who, upon Obama’s election, stated that our No. 1 priority was not advancing a conservative policy agenda but making Obama a one-term president—the corollary to this binary thinking being that his failure would be our success…To carry on in the spring of 2017 as if what was happening was anything approaching normalcy required a determined suspension of critical faculties. And tremendous powers of denial…Too often, we observe the unfolding drama along with the rest of the country, passively, all but saying, “Someone should do something!” without seeming to realize that that someone is us.”

Misty Copeland is a modern muse, and we don’t just mean in the dancing sense.

After teasing out on-point(e) imagery over the past few days, Estée Lauder announced Monday that the groundbreaking dancer, who became American Ballet Theatre’s first black principal ballerina in 2015, is their newest “Modern Muse.”

Named after Estée Lauder’s fragrance Modern Muse, the Modern Muse campaigns grew out of what the fragrance is meant to represent.

“When Estée Lauder launched the Modern Muse fragrance in 2013, we embraced the idea of women as muses, living life on their own terms, achieving great things and inspiring everyone around them,” Stephane de La Faverie, global brand president, said in a release.

    …………………………………

The plan changed because the president changed it. In fact, Trump Sr. reportedly dictated the statement’s language, making him directly responsible for misleading the public about a Trump campaign meeting with Russian nationals.

Peter Zeidenberg, the deputy special prosecutor who investigated the George W. Bush administration’s leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame’s identity, told the Post, “The thing that really strikes me about this is the stupidity of involving the president. They are still treating this like a family-run business and they have a PR problem…. What they don’t seem to understand is this is a criminal investigation involving all of them.”

A fake news blog created by German university researchers found an eager audience among far-right sympathisers who shared racially charged stories.

The experiment by Hohenheim University researchers set up four fake profiles on Facebook.

One false story claimed that asylum seekers were having free sex with prostitutes funded by a local council.

That story reached 11,000 people within four days and was shared more than 150 times, German SWR radio reported.

Many readers reacted indignantly to the “news” about free prostitutes for asylum seekers. Few Facebook users spotted that the place where it was allegedly happening – Bad Eulen – does not exist.

The fake news blog now has prominent warnings in red above its stories, signalling “fake news”.

The researchers called it “Der Volksbeobachter” – an echo of the Nazi propaganda daily Völkischer Beobachter (People’s Observer) – and included an eagle’s wings logo, also reminiscent of the Nazis.

Priebus and the Mooch out, WSJ reports #45 dictated Jr.’s first lie about the Russian meeting, NC courts uphold ruling against repub. gerrymandering and gives them two month deadline to re-draw districts, courts ruled Pruitt must enforce Obama era pollution standards, China rebukes the lazy and ignorant Nikki Hailey re: NK, Healthcare battle stalled, and women kicking ass, running for office, and not taking any shit from anybody (Auntie Maxine, Kamala Harris, etc), Republican women holding firm on “no” votes after being demeaned and harassed by fellow male legislators and the hapless one in the White House: all of this in 5 days! Karma is on the march and is taking no prisoners. All of these things and more is wind beneath our wings to lift us up and out to continue the fight. Times are still uncertain, so many and so much is being threatened, but the cause is far from impossible to achieve.

    https://www.wired.com/story/jared-kushner-middle-east

ON MONDAY, WHITE House senior advisor Jared Kushner spoke to a group of congressional interns as part of an ongoing, off-the-record summer lecture series. During the question-and-answer portion of the event, Kushner may have inadvertently offered some insight into the negotiating tactics he is using in the Middle East.
Prior to Kushner’s talk, Katie Patru, the deputy staff director for Member Services, Outreach & Communications, told the assembled interns, “To record today’s session would be such a breach of trust, from my opinion. This town is full of leakers and everyone knows who they are, and no one trusts them. In this business your reputation is everything, I’ve been on the hill for 15 years. I’ve sat in countless meetings with members of congress where important decisions were being made. During all those years in all those meetings, I never once leaked to a reporter. …. If someone in your office has asked you to break our protocol and give you a recording so they can leak it, as a manager, that bothers me at my core.”

WIRED has obtained a recording of Kushner’s talk, which lasted for just under an hour in total.
