Definitely. He needs to know that voting against Trump Care is the right and moral thing to do. He should know now that he’s just had emergency surgery which Trump Care would take away from millions of Americans.

Well, thank goodness that he could get his surgery.OTHER people may never be able to get life-saving surgery, but he did…so there’s that. Hope he is recovering well and thinking about other people….

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will miss this week’s votes in the Senate after undergoing surgery on Saturday, depriving Republicans of a key vote on healthcare.

McCain’s absence means Senate Republicans almost certainly will not have the 50 votes they’d need to win a procedural vote.

Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have already said they would oppose the procedural vote. With all Democrats voting no, that would leave Republicans with just 49 votes, given McCain’s absence.

    • July 15, 2017 at 9:02 pm

Yesterday, it was said that one more “no” vote would result in (probably) another 10 no votes; that basically, no one wants to be *the one* to defeat the BCRA vote. Although this is technically not a no vote, will it open the door for other GOP Senators to slither in (step up) and proclaim that they too will vote no?

I’m reading that money is being handed out in those states with possible no votes. What utter hypocrites they all are – buying votes is the GOP way.

Remember all the talk about ‘pork’ when PBO came in and the big brouhaha. It went away for awhile but McConnell is bringing it back to buy his votes.

Does he really think that the British press is like our weak press which worships him? No way in hell the British press changes its coverage of Trump just so he can visit the U.K. Not going to happen so I guess he will never visit Britain. Plus, the protests would be massive if he sets foot in the U.K.

He’s not President Obama and won’t get President Obama’s welcome anywhere except perhaps Russia, Israel and Poland.

Good morning TOD! What a great country we live in wherein a rich Senator with government funded health care that’s currently recuperating from surgery will in all likelihood vote to take away health care from the most vulnerable among us. If McCain had the fucking balls he’d vote no, but being the ass-wipe fake-maverick that he’s always been, he’s going to vote for the bill and solidify his position as being a two-bit piece of shit Senator from the great state of Arizona. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday, toodles.

Jonathon Karl on the tv gleefully telling lies with Susan Collins about Medicaid. You have to cover people no matter what it takes but you don’t hear that. Hey Americans deserve to be well or to get treatment as in other developed nations!! KOCH pay your taxes and get it over with
as in other developed nations. Death Party. Death Party, Death Care. Death Party. McConnell, KOCH, Ryan, McCain. Playing God 24/7.
Death Party. Death Care. Please remind Hillary to keep calling them the Death Party. It was effective.

      GM BRP.

IMHO, calling GOP and their supporters the Death Party won’t win new support (again, just my opinion, but insults don’t help, and HRC was not declared the winner of last November’s election).

Fate/karma has intervened in a timely manner with McCain’s surgery — may get FUBAR supporters to actually consider “there but for the grace of God go I,” since medical diagnosis is not something you can plan for.

Governors who are appalled by BCRA will now have time to convince Senators from their states who support this abomination of the cruelty of this legislation.

As a follow up to Pence/Koch connection posted upthread:

      • July 16, 2017 at 2:03 pm

Love you Arapaho. But disagree. GOP doesn’t want to be seen as the Death Party.
And they’ve been fucking around with health care coverage since 2010.
People like Collins will give the nod maybe but then still talking the same GOP game of deceiving their voters.
They are the Death Party. And getting worse. They don’t like truth tags that stick.

You know what’s funny is that after reading the next thread here, my immediate response to GOP is DEATH party, LOL.

I think I was in a more forgiving mood this morning when I replied to you because I had just viewed @yashar’s elephant and giraffe orphan videos and pretty much loved the world on a quiet Sunday morning (though I was even more enraged to think of the inhuman “people” like FUBAR sons who kill these incredible [much more human] animals for sport).

So yeah, #DeathParty works for me, 😉

I thought Trump was trying to ridiculously blame his grown up son for meeting with enemy agents on President Obama. I guess they’ll keep deflecting blame instead of taking responsibility for their voluntary and intentional actions. The Party of Personal Responsibility, my behind.

Then they all need to speak up together and say so. It occurred to me last night, how screwed up it is, to hear Republicans say they “don’t want to be the vote that kills this health care bill”. WHY? Shouldn’t they instead say they “don’t want to be the vote that takes health care away from millions?” Their priorities are messed up.

John Norris, a Montgomery County native who worked in the administrations of Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and President Barack Obama, has entered the Democratic gubernatorial primary.

“I just got fed up with this governor and the Republican Legislature doing everything for special interests and not the people of Iowa,” Norris said of his decision to run.

Norris, 58, listed health care, water quality and education among the key issues facing the state. He called the 2017 Iowa legislative session “destructive to our future.”

“We don’t address serious concerns about access to health care in Iowa. We’re not answering the call for improvements to water in the state,” he said. “Those are examples of where I think they’ve taken the side of special interests.”
