KTUU: Former President Obama Stops In Anchorage On His Way Home From Family Vacation

An Anchorage resident had a brief meeting with the 44th United States president on July 3, as he returned to America following a family vacation in Asia. Jolene Jackinsky entered Signature Air Service at around 7:20 a.m. on Monday. She says she had entered the business looking for Iliamna Air, and told her baby that they would be going “bye bye” soon.

At this point, Jackinsky said, former President Barack Obama, sitting in a chair in the middle of the room, remarked to her, asking, “Who is this pretty girl?” Jackinsky said Obama then approached the two and asked to hold her baby and spoke with her briefly. “He asked what our names were and where we were going. He talked about how fast they grow up and that he’s got a girl who’s going to college,” Jackinsky said. “When her dad walked in, Obama was still holding our baby and [Obama] said, ‘Hey, I’m taking your baby!'”

    GA TODville.

Such a wonderful photo, absolutely LOVE it.

Anchorage International is a small airport, similar in size to Burbank IIRC, or maybe even Long Beach… Very cute airport, without the congestion of either of those airports.

From Darrell Issa challenger (who tweets a lot, 😉 ).

While we’re on feel-good stories, here’s back story to a photo taken in Oroville CA you’ve probably already seen:

    From the article:
“It wasn’t until [photographer Josh] Edelson posted it on Facebook and it was shared thousands of times among Oroville locals that word got back to the firefighters.

Fowler said he called them into his office recently to discuss the flag incident with them.

‘They’re very humble. They’re like, ‘Oh my God, we’re in trouble,’’ [battalion chief with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Russell] Fowler recalled. ‘I said: ‘Guys, you’re not in any trouble. You did a good thing.’

While some on social media have questioned the firefighters’ priorities, the overwhelming response has been positive, Fowler said.

Edelson said it’s the most popular photograph he’s ever taken in his 10 years of shooting.”

Heartbreaking and depressing. I hope she is suing the hell out of that police force. Stories like these are enraging because they do nothing to solve actual crimes. The criminal wasn’t caught and a young girl has been harassed and brutalized for no reason.

I’ve seen a number of [former] IC officials/DOJ officials comment on Kushner’s security clearance (and Sessions too for that matter). I believe every one of them has said that lying on their security clearance application form is pretty much an automatic suspension of security clearance…that it would have already happened for anyone else.

Why is this not so with Kushner/Sessions??? Is it the House Appropriations Committee that has the authority to strip an individual of their clearance??? Are they the only ones authorized to do so??? If not, who else has that authority???

Apparently the GOP has no problem with Kushner’s questionable conduct and associates. Someone gave the opinion that the GOP is choosing whether to be labeled as corrupt or incapable. They would rather be seen as corrupt than be seen as unable to govern by virtue of their inability to pass any significant legislation; especially legislation they’ve been promising for the past 7 – 8 years.

    • July 13, 2017 at 4:55 pm

And BTW…are all the “retroactive” corrections supposed to a erase the fact that they lied?

        GE SWBG.

Saw a tweet a TOD commenter in the last day or so to this effect, but can’t find now. 😦

I cannot understand why GOP are in lockstep treason against the country and the citizens who voted for them. I know they want tax cuts, and prohibit use of contraceptives, etc., but WHAT could possibly convince them to support FUBAR’s autocracy?

What do you think of this as a reason?

Posted this yesterday, but it’s something we must demand after FUBAR and the rest of the GOP are indicted and convicted.

        • July 13, 2017 at 6:01 pm

Who is going to indict & convict?

I honestly beginning to think it doesn’t matter. The GOP are above the law in FACT at the moment, and as long as they own the machines and insist in their use, elections are all smoke and mirrors, to make the stupid populace “feel better,” like we “matter,” when we don’t.

        • July 13, 2017 at 6:26 pm

          Good Evening, arapaho415.

I have no doubt that fear is the reason for some. Fear that their greed will come to light and that their financial ties to Russia will also be exposed. Just like Flynn, there are others that are susceptible to blackmail. Unfortunately, they are also in a position to keep their specific transgressions concealed…at least for now.

Must have and that’s why McConnell was able to hold out for a year on President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland and the GOP apparently paid no price for it. It also explains why there’s such a resistance to go after Trump et.al.

Yeah, there’s something WordPress doesn’t like in the Chicago Tribune article, so I can’t paste the excerpt I wanted to.

Pressing question is how many deaths will be associated with FUBAR and Vlad’s “partnership?”

No autopsies will be performed for those who die on Russian soil, but an autopsy in the UK revealed the cause of death of a reported “heart attack.”

If and when you see the picture of President Macron and his lovely wife dining with the Trumps (I hate to even type that word); enlarge it and notice several things: Macron and his wife are both looking directly at the person with the camera with natural and lovely smiles. DJT has a weird expression on his face and seems to be looking at Macron; Melania is not smiling and she is looking (what seems to me) sideways at Mrs. Macron. The differences in the body language of the two couples is so marked.

Marc Kasowitz, President Trump’s personal attorney on the Russia case, threatened a stranger in a string of profanity-laden emails Wednesday night.

The man, a retired public relations professional in the western United States who asked not to be identified, read ProPublica’s story this week on Kasowitz and sent the lawyer an email with the subject line: “Resign Now.’’

Kasowitz replied with series of angry messages sent between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern time. One read: “I’m on you now. You are fucking with me now Let’s see who you are Watch your back , bitch.”

In another email, Kasowitz wrote: “Call me. Don’t be afraid, you piece of shit. Stand up. If you don’t call, you’re just afraid.” And later: “I already know where you live, I’m on you. You might as well call me. You will see me. I promise. Bro.”

Kasowitz’s spokesman, Michael Sitrick, said Thursday he couldn’t immediately reach Kasowitz for comment.

    http://www.politicususa.com/2017/07/13/democrats-vote-saving-obamacare-gop-senators-vote.html

After Sens. Rand Paul (KY) and Susan Collins (ME) both announced that they would vote against moving the health care bill forward, Democrats need just one more Republican no vote to firmly kill the legislation and save Obamacare.

    Politico reported:
Two GOP senators, Susan Collins of Maine and Rand Paul of Kentucky, said Thursday afternoon they will oppose a procedural vote next week to bring the bill to the floor. GOP leaders are putting immense pressure on about half a dozen other Republican senators not to join them and topple the entire effort. Another “no” is enough to kill the bill, and would also likely lead to mass defections….Undecided Republicans include Lee and Sens. Jeff Flake of Arizona, Rob Portman of Ohio, John Hoeven of North Dakota, Dean Heller of Nevada, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia.

If one of these undecided Senators votes no, Trumpcare will be dead, and Obamacare will remain the law of the land.

There was an article earlier tonight on msn.com wherein Trump said that he might invite Putin to the White House.. at a later date of course, as it might not be a good time for it. ffs,

There is no end (at this point) to the shenanigans. I HOPE everyday, Linda, that they won’t get away with any of it. That we’ll still have a vote in 2018, that our democracy will work again- that Putin isn’t literally taking over America with no one w/power stopping him I feel hopeful when I see all of us, and many folks with bigger voices in Congress, ex-aides to President Obama- all speaking out- that all gives me hope. But until these people, Trump, the GOP are out of power I worry endlessly for all of us.

No one with a brain thought that Donald Trump Jr was telling the whole truth about his meeting with that “russian lawyer” lady, kushner, and manford.

NBC breaking reports now  claim that there was another person in the room with them. The other person is a man, Russian American, who is a current lobbyist.  He is also reported to be a former soviet counter-intelligence officer, who US intelligence still suspect to still have ties to Russian intelligence .

So scoundrel#45, Jr, and all their supporters in Team Treason have not been telling the truth since this story broke. They claimed all the facts were out.  I do not know how many people believe that the claim that no information was exchanged is true???

There should be bumper stickers with this: ‘Next time you lose a loved one due to lack of Healthcare, thank a GOP supporter and a GOP elected official’.
Let them know their mission has been accomplished.

I was thinking of the PTSD some citizens in the US are probably undergoing, from stress … all because they simply want affordable healthcare. Not asking for the moon … just simply the peace of mind and the care to keep one alive for as long as possible.

I don’t blame the lawmakers … I blame the ppl who elect these scumbags. The ones that voted R and ones that refrained from voting D.
I wonder how many of them have regrets. Saw on TV a Trump supporter still supporting Putin’s Puppet.

    Oh Fer Phuck’s Sake!!!

    From The Hill

A former Soviet counter-intelligence officer was reportedly in the meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer in June 2016, in which Trump Jr. was promised damaging information on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

NBC News reported Friday that some U.S. officials suspect the former intelligence officer of having ongoing ties to Russian intelligence.

The former Soviet official, whom the news network is not naming, denies any current ties to the Kremlin.

    A former Soviet counter-intelligence officer?

    DOES.NOT.EXIST.

So, the lawyer that IS working for The Kremlin
Would allow someone in that ISN’T working for the Kremlin?
Does that make ANY kind of sense?

Do we understand NOW why the CIA went into a panic mode with the election?
