Not even a part of a day goes by when I don’t think of something related to President Obama. In my continuing activist work I always consider how he would have thought about an issue, and I always carry myself with the respect, empower, include focus that he taught. I find that I am different because of it. Not only different than how I used to be but different than many of the people around me. I am glad to have been so influenced by him. Its a good thing.
Aloha TODs! Read this article and did some head scratching. It’s true, if HRC had been elected, she would be battling aggressive resistance from the right. Not ready to seek silver linings in the DT disaster we’re experiencing, but the hope of a mid-term turn-around gives me hope every day. That and the fact that the Obamas are still on the planet, still thinking and working and leading. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/06/where-would-we-be-politically-if-hillary-clinton-had-won.html
We know and trust that PBO did whatever he and his Team thought best given the many constraints. He has demonstrated his
thoughtfulness and good judgement over and over again. Starting with bringing the world economy back from the brink! His very first hurdle.
And our economy continues to reap the rewards of the new financial foundations and protections PBO set in place.
What happens beyond that is entirely on the Dicktraitor and his gopies.
It annoys me when I hear complaints that PBO didn’t do enough, or why didn’t he do ….. The Slate article/op-ed that was linked in one of the earlier post said it right; PBO had to be concerned about the democracy and his decision on how to act and to what degree was made accordingly.
But I question that if PBO had acted as critics say he should have, would he have gotten the support that he needed?
Keep in mind, the Republicans had already discounted the information from the Intelligence Community. Their mindset was primarily anti-HRC so there was no way they would have would have seen this as anything but politics. They already unjustly and incorrectly accused PBO of abusing his executive authority. Unlike with 45, there was no forgiveness or rationalizing. even though PBO acted within the authority granted the Executive Branch by the Constitution.
As for the Democrats, I often think about how PBO was treated during the development of ACA. Democrats were pushing for public option or single payer. Yet, each time PBO stuck his neck out, he was left out there pretty much by himself. So excuse me if I’m skeptical that they would have had his back if a different decision had been made regarding Russia’s interference during the last election.
The media???? So busy chasing after 45’s antics or aiding in the HRC bashing that they ignored information that would have called attention to Russia’s influence and to persons who may have been colluding with Putin and his agents. NYT and WP, especially, are *now* all over this with breaking news coming out daily. While I appreciate all of the information, forgive me if I’m not impressed that “journalists” are FINALLY doing their job. Yet even now, they continue to chase the shiny object that they see in 45.
IMO, PBO’s presidency became one where he could not rely on his party to have his back. His decisions/actions were not made recklessly or in a vacuum. He gathered information/intelligence from the experts in his administration (because he did have people with EXPERIENCE and INTEGRITY on his staff). He got input from his advisers (because he did LISTEN to others). He was analytical in thinking about the potential fall-out (because he did THINK beyond the moment). The bottom line in his decision-making was what was in the best interest of the COUNTRY…not the party…not himself. And, PBO had to be able to live with his decisions (because his decisions had to be LEGAL/CONSTITUTIONAL and not compromise his VALUES).
It’s easy to talk about “coulda/shoulda” when you are not being held accountable. It’s easy to be criticize when you don’t have all the information…all the FACTS and treat everything as black or white. It’s easy to play Monday morning quarterback when you don’t comprehend the lack of normalcy in the conditions under which PBO had to operate.
45 and his cronies have made it their mission to try to dismantle as many protections that PBO put in place as they can…thus putting at risk the security of this country and the well-being of its citizens…and never wanting to take responsibility for what they are doing.
the GOP does not try to bring Dem voters into the fold….and they know that blk folks see them for who they are….so what do they do…they suppress our votes and gerrymander our districts…. the DEMS continue to court those voters who will never vote for them…while ignoring their true base of blk/brwn voters…which is not a new thing….it was President Obama who respected the the power of Obama Coalition… The DEM Party…continues to have trouble coming to terms with this…they dis us…just as they dissed the President…leading to loss of seats in 2010 and 2014…..in 2016….Bernie played a pivital role in galvanizing that 3rd party against DEMS and Hillary….
i am at a loss these days…on where to go and what to do….
In PA …there are challengers to vulnerable GOPers…I did sign up to so voter registration and i give monthly donations to some of the DEM campaigns….

Policy being dictated by what reconciliation allows, not what actually makes sense. Forcing bill thru on 50 votes leads to terrible policy. https://t.co/9AcKiuSlPQ
So Republicans want to penalize people because they can’t afford insurance…or don’t want to waste money on plans that amounts to coverage in name only and only inflates the bottom line for the insurance companies?!?!?!?

As the older Black folks say, “something in the milk not clean” which is one of the many reasons the majority of A-A shunned Bernie. Everyone saw how viciously he and his demented followers went after us and why he is trying to erase us from the Democratic party that he is not a member of. We knew that he was as much of a con as that one too many gullible and greedy white folks put in the WH.

It makes no sense to me that Twitter would infringe on 1st amendment rights for these tweets — no profanity, no attacks, just her opinion.
I’ve had problems with Twitter before (can’t remember now what caused the problems), but IIRC I got some sort of Twitter message that I responded to — but I could be remembering incorrectly.
Sorry that I’m no help on unblocking your account. 😦
Thanks, Arapaho, I’ve done the same, went in a read all the info, but all I did was RT, so it didn’t make any sense. I activated the account, and I see everyone I was following have been wiped, tho my scant list of followers remains. I find Twitter frustrating, and anxiety producing.. I opened an account before PBO left office in case for some reason TOD was to close, so I could keep in touch with TODObots. I am grateful to Nerdy for letting us go on, and am tempted to delete my Twitter account. My nervous system is too fragile anymore, and the angst on Twitter is palpable. Bless you, thank you for your help. If I decide to close it, I’ll let people here know, maybe we can exchange emails. That’s it. 🙏🏼🗝

No, Mr. President. President Obama didn't want to be perceived as helping Clinton. That was his mistake. Everything since has been yours. https://t.co/dMTtJKE79f

So much beauty to go around, so why are a few rich folk so eager to destroy it since they’ll be just as dead as everyone else if they persist in destroying their only home …. money didn’t exist when life on Earth began ~ 3 Billion Years Ago, but it certainly has the capacity to end ALL KNOWN LIFE, soon …. for perspective just divide 6000 years by 3000000000 years … and think about how small that fraction is ….

People get tired of being taken for granted.

Don’t come for Joy Reid.

Thank you, CEB.

THIS.
Ol’ Bernie is an agent of divide and conquer. Dems OUGHT to be smart enough to know that the MSM isn’t on their side.
When they want Bernie on, it’s to help get the Dems stirred up in a negative way.
It all goes back to taking heat off of Trump whenever possible.
Truth is …..
No escaping it …. and obviously folk like Bernie and lots of so called Dems & Progressives are doing their best to ensure the GOP is not defeated.
