    UGH. We will likely learn on Monday (last day of current session) whether these rumors about Justice Kennedy retiring from SCOTUS are true. If so, say goodbye to Roe v Wade.

      I will never forget about a conversation I had a long time ago with a friend that was conservative, and when I say conservative the guy had a Ronald Reagan coffee mug. Anyway he told me a long time ago that even if the supreme court turned conservative they would never overturn Roe v Wade because that would get rid of the goose that laid the golden egg. He explained to me that the fight against Roe v Wade was one of the main pillars that the Republican Party used to get donations. He said that the end of Roe v Wade would be an end to one of their main revenue streams. Yes, it doesn’t make sense.

    Yes, during this week, I saw those reminders about SCOTUS and a possible retirement of one of the Associate Justices;

    Maddow did a segment on it yesterday and explained why the news could come on Monday and the impact it would be if it is Justice Kennedy;

    I used to think that when the nation is in crisis, people in critical positions realize that the actions they take are likely to worsen the national crisis. Based on this crisis then those people choose to do the right thing in the interest of the nation.

    but the republicans demonstrate that country does not matter, only accumulating power and wealth do;

    consider the possibility that SCOTUS could be required to decide about any challenges that arise in Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation;

    then I remembered reading an article that was linked here which included an explanation of the close relationship between Justice Kennedy and the homegrown demagogue’s family;

    couple that with what SCOTUS did to the nation in Bush Vs Gore and the role O’Connor and Kennedy played;

    Based on this I am under no illusion that Justice Kennedy will do the right thing and not retire at the end of this court’s term (on Monday);

    I am also looking at the list of the other possible retirements:

    The justices, ordered by seniority, are:
    Anthony Kennedy. July 23, 1936.
    Clarence Thomas. June 23, 1948.
    Ruth Bader Ginsburg. March 15, 1933.
    Stephen Breyer. August 15, 1938.

    we will take whatever news in stride but I have only one thing to say:

    Heavens, Help this nation and the world

    Here’s my good dream about Justice Kennedy…depending on what happens with the fraud and all his cronies….maybe Gorsuch will have to leave the bench because a treasonous fraud that did harm to the country he swore to protect, and is illegitimate, so therefore can not choose a SC justice…..Kennedy stays, at least until Dems get majority in Senate/House. I can dream

      Kennedy is the key, but Roberts might be the whole ballgame. Even though his record is abysmal when it comes to voting rights, he did vote in favor of Obamacare. Every once in a while one of these conservative justices will surprise you. Hopefully you are right about Gorsuch, he is looney fucking tunes.

    FORMER PRESIDENT OBAMA ARRIVES IN BALI

    …Wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, Obama was seen relaxed and smiling when he embarked from the plane, witnesses reported. Meanwhile, former First Lady Michelle Obama, who wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans walked by his side. Obama’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, also joined the vacation. … More here: http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/06/23/obama-arrives-in-bali.html

    http://www.politicususa.com/2017/06/24/republicans-kill-healthcare-bill-bringing-individual-mandate.html

    Republicans complained about the individual mandate in the ACA for seven years, but on Monday, they are going to put a provision in their bill requiring people to buy their crappy no coverage health insurance. The problem is that adding a requirement for coverage would violate the reconciliation rules and for the bill to need 60 votes to pass.

    Vox reported, “But the six-month waiting period could also complicate the Senate Republicans’ repeal efforts, because it may run afoul of the chamber’s complex reconciliation rules. Republicans are using what’s called “budget reconciliation” to pass their health care bill with a bare majority of 50 votes and avoid a Democratic filibuster. But the rules governing reconciliation restrict what policies the GOP can include in their bill — the waiting period is one of the provisions thought to be in doubt.”

    The reason why Republicans are now adding the individual mandate is that insurance companies didn’t like their plan to allow people to not have insurance. Insurers warned that allowing people to drop their health coverage would destabilize the market because healthy people would buy insurance only when they needed it.

    Idiots have no idea how to GOVERN. They just run around like the spoiled brats they are and break shit.
