But the threats to Ossoff are real.

“Powder in letters sent to Handel’s neighborhood believed to be non-hazardous”

The letters that contained suspicious white powder and were sent to 6th Congressional District candidate Karen Handel’s Roswell neighborhood Thursday appear to be non-hazardous, the FBI said Friday.

From the moment NBC News announced their newest star anchor Megyn Kelly would be sitting down with renowned fabulist and deadbeat father Alex Jones, nearly everyone agreed it was a very, very bad idea.

But NBC has held its ground, arguing that Jones, for all of his moral and ethical deficiencies, is a newsmaker worthy of primetime coverage. Kelly herself has defended the decision, saying in a statement that her “goal in sitting down with him was to shine a light — as journalists are supposed to do — on this influential figure, and yes—to discuss the considerable falsehoods he has promoted with near impunity.”

But on Thursday, Jones released secretly-recorded audio from his pre-interview with Kelly, wherein the NBC host can be heard trying to convince Jones to sit for the interview in the first place. The recordings are somewhat embarrassing for NBC and for Kelly—at one point she assures him “I really just want to talk about you. Take the measure of the man. This is your chance to tell people who you are.”

Far more concerning for NBC and Kelly is Jones’ threat to release the full audio from his entire interview, which he claims to have also recorded in secret. After weathering days of criticism and frantically trying to salvage their interview and assuage nervous advertisers, NBC News might somehow get scooped on their own exclusive by its very subject.

Megyn Kelly is the frog that thought the scorpion she trying to ride across the river was going to actually take her across the river. Its Alex freaking Jones, at what point did lady Kelly think this shit was going to work out in her favor.

I saw this earlier and thought about similar parables. She is a viper who used pseudo-feminism to sell books and land this new position. She got played by an even more poisonous viper and NBC is the fly that that the two of them consumed together. Karma is on the warpath and is taking down all of the would-be demi-gods in politics and in the media who have so grievously harmed us all. 2017 may well turn out not to be the Winter of our discontent, but the Spring of our liberation. Just saw on HuffPuff that Valerie Jarret and Tina Tchen have started a group called Galvanize that will continue much of the work that they did with the WH Council on Women and Girls. They are adding teaching women how to run for office and the fight to save the ACA, especially the benefits that accrue to women’s health. Ms. Jarett said in answer to the GOP attempts at eroding the law “Changing attitudes is a lot of what we did and that’s going to outlast any attempt to undo the policy.” Like all effective community organizers, PBO got all of the stakeholders involved and we have seen them push back on the AHCA. PBO’s greatest and most long-lasting legacy is that he convinced thousands here and abroad that each has the power to be the change that we seek; that one person can make a difference, and that our governing bodies are there to serve the greater good and that when they fail to do so, we can do something about it. We are not victims; we can chart are own course. PBO talked often about the power of words (remember that speech from the campaign trail in 2008?) to bring about positive change. He left us a legacy of resilience, power, and creativity to make ourselves and our world anew.

EPA findings were discussed at a meeting last week of the Hanford Advisory Board, and should be of concern to every citizen, but especially to our loved ones in the Pacific NW (Judith Fardig, BobFr, MP, Kat4Obama, etc.):

        Great link, MP!

“Eighteen thousand years ago the Columbia Basin was nearly covered by floodwaters when an ice dam at Lake Missoula in western Montana broke.”

The Columbia River is stunningly beautiful. A few years ago I was in Portland in August (took as many baskets of blueberries as I could fit in my carryon bag — they were HUGE and stayed fresh longer than the ones I purchase at supermarkets in SoCal) and took a daytrip to the Oregon side of the Columbia. Words can’t describe the beauty.

TOD is the only place I comment (besides Twitter, of course) — can’t figure out why statements by EPA would be controversial for liberal-minded folks.

IMHO, you did us all a favor by posting article. Thank you.

I thought so as well, Arapaho, I’ve been here over 28 years now, have seen a lot of growth and change. Not all for the good. First drove all through those regions in 1971, again in 1973/74, so magical! I decided to leave the Seattle Indivisible group today. I haven’t much to offer them really, as my complex disabilities prevent me from actively getting out into the streets. They are a strong, large group, several thousand members, and vocal. I applaud them for resisting and persisting. Quite a few are berniebots, tho, who have pissed me off from time to time anyway. I appreciate their dedication, they must take control of the future now. I walked the walk with millions of others in the late 60’s, protesting Vietnam, protesting Tricky Dick… Passing the baton now. 🖖🏼🗝🌏🙏🏼❤️

Bc Nixon lawyer pleaded guilty to obstruction so trumps lawyer doesn’t want to get tangled up …
    from wiki –
    e trial Edit

Dean pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice before Watergate trial judge John Sirica on October 19, 1973. He admitted supervising payments of “hush money” to the Watergate burglars, notably E. Howard Hunt, and revealed the existence of Nixon’s enemies list. Archibald Cox, Watergate Special Prosecutor, was interested in meeting with Dean, and planned to do so a few days later, but Cox was fired by Nixon the very next day, and it was not until some time later that Cox was replaced by Leon Jaworski. On August 2, 1974, Sirica handed down a sentence to Dean of one-to-four years in a minimum-security prison. However, when Dean surrendered as scheduled on September 3, he was diverted to the custody of U.S. Marshals, and kept instead at Fort Holabird (near Baltimore, Maryland) in a special “safe house” holding facility primarily used for witnesses against the Mafia.

😀 In a comment here, I suggested that evil pence will be destroyed by homegrown demagogue. My argument was that not only did evil pence lie about flynn but also about the firing of Director Comey. Furthermore, the always-scheming rightwingers had made it known that most of them were “getting ready for pence”. It has been reported in the media that they were almost giddy with the prospect of pence as #46. But anyone who had watched the homegrown demagogue knows that he doesn’t want to be upstaged by anyone. Given #45’s pettiness & vengeful nature, it was just a matter of time before he makes sure that he takes pence down with him. Stay tuned for the next episode of “The Backstabbers”, GOP edition

Almost all of Washington (politicos, journalists, lobbyists, etc) are a broiling incestuous mess. It is all about their own egos, positions, and dreams of power; its quid pro quo, and pay for play, and gratuitous leaks, then they all eat steaks, drink fine liquor, and pat each other on the back while the rest of us are crawling around in darkness fighting each other for the few crumbs that fall from their table and fooling ourselves that the system is not rigged against all of us. The Kochs, the Mercers and their ilk write our laws while the legislators who owe them everything, sign off on whatever they want. We have to really understand who the true enemy is and how they have f**ked the majority of us since this country’s inception. These truths have to be known far and wide and heeded if we are ever to have a country that works for us and not for the 0.5 of the 1%.

I’m so deep into this Trump/Russia thing and the Obamacare fight thing that I almost for about Philando Castile and the fact that this black man got shot down in the street like a dog and the policeman that shot him walks away free. Sometimes when I’m at work and the healthcare issue comes up or Trump issue comes up, I can engage in those conversations. But for most black people, getting from point A to point B after an encounter with law enforcement pushes every other issue to the black burner. Not for one second will they let us forget that we are black. Anyway today is my wife and I 20th wedding anniversary.

This man’s killing was caught on tape and no one will pay for it. And somehow I’m supposed to give a fuck about Trump and all the other issues. I want to give a fuck about Trump but you won’t let me, because every time I start to concentrate on an important issue my concentration is interrupted by the killing of another innocent African American man or woman.

      GE Don.

      Agree with you.

Couldn’t believe when I heard on the radio the verdict for Philando Castille’s cold-blooded murder.

All these incidents are horrific, unjustified murders — the murders of our youth who were minding their own business (Tamir, Trayvon, Michael Brown, etc.) are unbelievable — but Sandra Brown and Philando’s murders (upstanding, contributing members of our communities) for alleged minor/no infractions rank up there for me too.

And frustratingly, with jackbooted thugocracy being imposed on this country, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel this year. 😦

Benjy is a ghost; at this point nothing he does or says matters. He has played his part as collaborator and Judas goat now he has no where to go. He joins the list of other Black people (Omarosa’s days are numbered) who preened under the attention of the GOP, thought they were special and looked down at Black Democrats (Can’t you see that you are being used?), and were dragged out to be used against other Black people in public office and positions. Like J.C.Watts, they are given position but no power and no money. They did not get those lucrative board positions, jobs in big companies, or any other tangible things after their usefulness was over. These people cannot go back to the Black community because we have long memories and know they cannot be trusted. I am not saying that no Black person should ever be a Republican, but they must be realistic about what role they are expected to play, even if/when the party cleans up its act and become more moderate.

The details of the Senate GOP’s Obamacare replacement plan remain a mystery. But the argument Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is using to push the final product over the finish line isn’t.

On Friday, McConnell reportedly “delivered a private warning to his Senate Republicans: If they failed to pass legislation unwinding the Affordable Care Act, Democrats could regain power and establish a single-payer health-care system.”

If Republicans wipe out the Affordable Care Act and de-insure tens of millions of people, they will prove a few things to Democrats. First, including private insurers and conservative ideas in a health reform plan doesn’t offer a scintilla of political protection, much less Republican support. Second, sweeping health reform can be passed quickly, with only 51 votes in the Senate, and with no support from major industry actors. Third, it’s easier to defend popular government programs that people already understand and appreciate, like Medicaid and Medicare, than to defend complex public-private partnerships, like Obamacare’s exchanges.

The political fallout from passing the American Health Care Act — which even Donald Trump is reportedly calling “mean” — will also be immense. In passing a bill that polls at 20 percent even before taking insurance away from anyone, Republicans will give Democrats a driving issue in 2018 and beyond — and next time Democrats have power, they’ll have to deliver on their promises to voters. Much as repeal and replace powered the GOP since 2010 and dominated their agenda as soon as they won back the White House, if the American Health Care Act passes, “Medicare for all” will power the Democratic Party after 2017.

I believe this to be the truth. They will also be locked out of govt for generations.

Everyday since 11/8/2017 is an assault on the psyche. Everyday you check the news to see “what fresh hell is this” and each day has several. You tell yourself that you will stay away from the news for awhile to heal yourself, to remember that there is still beauty, light, and goodness in the world, but you are drawn back to the horror show that is now our national life. Daily we see how our darkest musings become reality, we fight the encroaching darkness of hater and despair so that we do not become that which we despise and work against. The daily reminder that our national character is held hostage and symbolized by the very worst in us saps our strength. We read poetry and scripture, listen to inspiring songs, revel in gallows humor, anything to try to raise our spirits, to respair (an old, new word from Merriam-Webster) ourselves. We look for signs, listen for rumors, and leaks, anything that can assure us that our resistance is bringing about some victory, small and large. We look at our neighbors, co-workers, church members, friends, and strangers and we wonder how we will be received and how should we receive them, with suspicion or open arms. We are deeply aware of the division that had seemed almost academic for many before 11/8/2017; it is real, it is deep, it is dangerous, it can destroy a nation that has only a short time to self-correct. Our 2nd civil war is a bit less bloody than the previous one (so far), but it is here, played out in everything from school yard taunts to bullets flying in public places. When will we have the second reconstruction? what will it look like? How do we make ourselves anew to be more just, equal, and fair? Will there be truth and reconciliation or will the festering wounds be bandaged over? There is great work ahead of us to re-make the soul of a nation.
