As I said no one deserves to be shot, but I have little sympathy for these people.

Why exactly? The U.S. has relations with other countries with much worse human rights records such as Saudi Arabia and China.

Call me callous, but it irks me that this is such a big deal for them, but they have little to no care about the people who deal with shootings everyday. Will *this* make them do something about gun legislation?
In a word: Nope.
One, because in general, this is not something that affects them. They feel safe behind their gated communities or with their security detail. But also, even though the majority of Americans have indicated that they are in favor of common sense gun legislation, GOP congresspeople think they know better than we do what we want or need. They have no respect for the people they represent.
It’s not that they think they know better, it’s just that their NRA overlords take precedence.
