I just read on DKos that TWITLER 45 is going to “LIVE TWEET” his responses during Comey’s testimony. Someone needs to either take that phone away from him or put a “micky” in his drink the night before so he will sleep through the whole thing. Just because you are the President someone needs to tell him NO!

      • June 6, 2017 at 1:31 pm

Most likely, a Russia-associated firm is not concerned about whether they will be paid. Nor are they likely concerned about putting their reputation on the line.

      • June 6, 2017 at 1:36 pm

Yes, 45 definitely has a problem knowing where to put his focus…unless he can figure out a way to insert himself and make himself the focus. Maybe some of his supporters are starting to understand that the first “A” in MAGA stands for Donald (in his mind; A$$hole in everyone else’s mind.)

The idea is to generate feat and to disrupt.

In the months after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Western officials worried about additional attacks, possibly using weapons of mass destruction, that could kill thousands.

More than a decade and a half later, the threat and fear have proved real and lasting. But the death tolls in individual attacks in the West have remained relatively modest, partly because the assailants have learned that they do not need anthrax or dirty bombs to disrupt capitals, terrify tourists, rivet the attention of governments and impress potential recruits.

All they need is a gun, or, if that is too hard to acquire, a truck and a knife. And with simple preparation, such plotting, encouraged and sometimes directed by the Islamic State, is difficult to detect even with robust intelligence and law enforcement surveillance.

I know that I can be flip at times. And, snarky.
But, I am worried about what’s happening in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia is NOT, nor has ever been our friend. Neither is Qatar, but we have Soldiers and their families in Qatar.
We have an ignoramous in the WH, who hasn’t a clue about any phucking thing.
And, he has surrounded himself with ignorant azz muthaphuckas without a clue about anything but kissing his azz and grifting.
Shrub was Shrub, but he did surround himself with professionals. They were evil as phuck, but there was a basic professionalism about them. WE KNEW when he lied about Iraq, what was going on. We didn’t know the end result, but we knew what was going on.
Dolt45 doesn’t know what’s going on, and folks best not sleep on Iran.
Those itching for war with Iran are even stupider than those who wanted to go to war in Iraq.

I remember being horrified watching the story unfold on tv news as it interrupted regular programming. The world changed for me that day. I was 7 years old.

    • June 6, 2017 at 4:35 pm

I remember it as well, Dudette. It was the last day of school my first grade year (about to turn 7 years old). It was doubly horrifying because MLK had been assassinated only two months prior.

        June 6, 2017 at 4:46 pm

Yep. I just cried and cried. Knew who MLK was when he was assassinated, but not RFK at the time – I just recognized a lot of people loved him

        • June 6, 2017 at 4:52 pm

This was during a time when families –which included extended family — watched television TOGETHER and the 6:00 *news* was one of the programs we watched. A lot of the knowledge I had of, first MLK, then RFK, was because of the respect and appreciation expressed during this family time.

Broke my heart too, I was 11 and we loved Bobby.

    • June 6, 2017 at 7:09 pm

It is burned in my heart and soul. I was 22 and had great hopes and dreams for our country. Supporting this articulate, compassionate young man was the best thing since JFK. So many of us had such dreams of what could be possible with RFK leading. Not until PBO would that dream be rekindled. So many have experienced a glimpse of a better world through PBO that I don’t think the dream will die again.

I remember too Dudette, I was 12yrs old. We had just lost Martin Luther King Jr. gunned down just months before believing nothing like would dare happen anytime soon. In many families, poor, rich, black, white, brown, etc had some much hope that Bobby Kennedy would be our next President and it was dashed in an instant. My mom never voted again until I was in my 20’s and I registered to vote at 18yrs old. She watched me go out to vote and we voted for Jimmy Carter that year. Thank goodness even after Reagan she didn’t stop voting ever again,

How Donald Trump Shifted Kids-Cancer Charity Money Into His Business

LIKE AUTUMN LEAVES, sponsored Cadillacs, Ferraris and Maseratis descend on the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, New York, in September for the Eric Trump Foundation golf invitational…

The best part about all this [the golf tournament to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital], according to Eric Trump, is the charity’s efficiency: Because he can get his family’s golf course for free and have most of the other costs donated, virtually all the money contributed will go toward helping kids with cancer. “We get to use our assets 100% free of charge,” Trump tells Forbes.

That’s not the case. In reviewing filings from the Eric Trump Foundation and other charities, it’s clear that the course wasn’t free–that the Trump Organization received payments for its use, part of more than $1.2 million that has no documented recipients past the Trump Organization. Golf charity experts say the listed expenses defy any reasonable cost justification for a one-day golf tournament.

Additionally, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, which has come under previous scrutiny for self-dealing and advancing the interests of its namesake rather than those of charity, apparently used the Eric Trump Foundation to funnel $100,000 in donations into revenue for the Trump Organization.

And while donors to the Eric Trump Foundation were told their money was going to help sick kids, more than $500,000 was re-donated to other charities, many of which were connected to Trump family members or interests, including at least four groups that subsequently paid to hold golf tournaments at Trump courses.

All of this seems to defy federal tax rules and state laws that ban self-dealing and misleading donors. It also raises larger questions about the Trump family dynamics and whether Eric and his brother, Don Jr., can be truly independent of their father.

    In An Ecstatic Montreal.
PBO: “With great determination and great conviction” we can buy time for clean energy breakthroughs
that will sustain us — as the world pushes forward to bring down carbon dioxide (and I might add Methane) pollution.
PBO: Thinks we will see a woman President in his lifetime. With women in charge around the world we might
make great leaps forward and be better off generally.

  76. June 6, 2017 at 7:45 pm

PBO included (a few notes): Need for new social compacts, adapt to change and not be paralyzed, Cannot reverse tech, must invest in education and ideas. Under PBO renewable energy doubled while creating jobs for unprecedented 75 months. Need balance between laws, traditions + openness to refugees and immigrants + be orderly about it. Problems of accepting only info that we agree with over evidence, facts and logic. Democracy must be driven by greater civic engagement from the bottom up. We must be a good example of democracy here at home. Rule of law, empathy and understanding across cultures have brought us thus far while lifting millions out of poverty around the world.

  77. June 6, 2017 at 7:47 pm

PBO answers included questions on the role of businesses in a new social framework; foundations for a clean economy; about China; challenge of old energy jobs and new training; geopolitics; the European project; women in politics.
(Don’t know if CTV Montreal will provide a video.)
