Dan Roberts: Barack Obama Tees Off Scotland Visit With Round Of Golf

Barack Obama arrived in Scotland for his first ever visit and a round of golf at St Andrews before a charity dinner in Edinburgh that could hardly strike a more contrasting note with his successor. Obama was warmly received by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, during an earlier visit to Berlin on Thursday and then landed in Scotlandon Friday amid the sort of excitement normally reserved for current world leaders. Nonetheless, many camera phones were present to witness the famously golf-obsessed president complete his homage to St Andrews and tee off to a round of applause. After the third hole, Obama wandered over to the crowd who had been following him round the course. He shook hands with people and spoke with them before heading back to resume play.

Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Wednesday morning. Congrats df, on being first this morning.

Nerdy, thanks so much for helping Ms. Chips and for the sacrifices you’re making for us TOD’ers. 💫🙏👌👊❤

To all, I hope that your determination to be the best at what you’re doing at the very moment you’re doing it, is such that you are willing to walk across the desert sands, swim the most expansive ocean, and climb to the top of the highest mountain today. ❤ ❤ ❤

I am thankful to God that I lived to witness one of the greatest President of The United States of America in President Barack Hussein Obama ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆

VC! Wanted to let you know my little great grandson Hayden is visiting! Today his Mom and two other of my grandkids and The Big H came over to do some outdoor work for me (I make up summer “jobs” for them, and pay them big wages, so the younger ones know how “big wages” feel – Ha! – while telling them I only pay people who would do it for free). Hayden was very dedicatedly digging for weeds with his trowel, while entertaining me asking if I knew that if he “dug deep,” REAL deep, he’d “hit gold” …

I kept saying “Dig deeper, young man, dig deeper.” ❤

🙂 🙂 Is Hayden my little pistol from Florida? So great to have him back ‘in town’ digging for gold. (If he hits gold please don’t forget your friend in Toronto.

So, how did his year go – I suppose you went down for his kindergarten graduation? 😀 😀

Yes, the same Florida boy! No, we didn’t go for his K graduation, but we celebrated it the second he got here (which was the day after his last day of school – we couldn’t wait much longer!). Today I spoke on the phone with him and he said he had to run to fix his bike (while his Poppy was working on his truck), so he’s already made himself at home! ❤

‘so he’s already made himself at home’

🙂 🙂 Exactly the way it should be!

I guess with him being more active now (and more of a ‘big boy’), you’ve definitely *lost* your napping partner! 😀

      • May 31, 2017 at 5:52 pm

That’s why I cringe every time someone mentions 2020, as if he will complete a full term. Given the damage he’s done in a little over 4 months, it scares me to think of him possibly being in office for 4 years.

And this..(which I always thought was the REAL issue to begin with)

But the Kremlin’s motive for interfering in our election was simple. They were presented with two candidates: One, Hillary Clinton, was a nemesis of Putin who sought to keep sanctions against Russia and honor U.S. commitments to international bodies like NATO. The other, Donald Trump, was a malleable egomaniac who had been trying to work with Russia for 30 years. Trump was also an inherently chaotic candidate whose rise could weaken already struggling U.S. institutions. Since the end of the Cold War, Russia has been tanking economically and losing political influence—weakening the U.S. is a great way for the Kremlin to get back on top.

Amen. In many ways being famous and rich makes it harder. You give the lie to the racists with your success and then they do everything to destroy you, to bring you down to your knees for daring in their words, to be “uppity.” They know that they are mediocre and that being white does not make you smarter, more skilled, gifted. Whiteness gives privilege and opportunity, not excellence.

This is a smart move by the Obamas, why rent if you have the money to buy, paying someone else’s mortgage? When you can buy the property as an investment and judging by the location, they will be able to sell it easily or rent it easily when and if they decide to leave D.C. Also they can do whatever they want with the property, without a need to get approval from the landlord. I say it is really a smart move.

We are being fleeced and conned while we spend so much time talking about scandals and typos. Sam Stein’s article at Huff puff “While you Obsessed over Trump’s Scandals He’s Fundamentally changed the Country” spells out all of the things that don’t get the headlines that will affect us for yearn no matter who is in the White House. Worker’s rights, everything from retirement to safety, net neutrality, and many other things. The Heritage Foundation is getting everything it wants. Take a look (I still do not know how to l ink articles).

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-scandals-policy_us_592f1effe4b0540ffc841a46

The president’s retrenchment will have immense, generations-long geopolitical ripple effects. Yet on Wednesday morning, it competed for media attention alongside the fallout from Trump’s bizarre Twitter typo the night before and the backlash against comedian Kathy Griffin’s vulgar depiction of a severed Trump head.

On regulatory policy, Trump’s impact has far outpaced the coverage it’s often received. He’s made it harder for workers to set up retirement accounts and has delayed the implementation of workplace safety rules. He repealed a regulation protecting workers from wage theft and allowed employers with spotty labor records to get government contracts. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has hit the brakes on a rule that would require firms to report worker injury data online. Trump has given coal companies permission to dump debris into local streams and canceled requirements for reporting methane emissions. Both the Dakota Access and Keystone pipelines have been allowed to proceed, and coal companies have been allowed to again lease on public lands.

Elsewhere, Trump has made moves that will fundamentally alter the way our economy operates and individuals live their lives. His appointment of Ajit Pai to head the Federal Communications Commission is one of them. Pai is poised to dismantle net neutrality rules, moving away from treating online content as a public utility and toward a system that allows cable and telecom industry interests to control content and traffic. “That appointment,” Norquist said, “is [determining] 16 percent of the economy.”

“The EB-5 program allows “wealthy foreigners” to get “a fast-track residence visa by investing at least $500,000 in a projectin a ‘targeted employment area’”. Wealthy people buy properties sight unseen, then knock down neighborhoods to put up their properties.
Important to get Heritage protection laws on these issues quickly.. Even better – end this program.
