      Context, matter.
Not an excuse, just Facts as they are today.
With a handful of Dems in DC, the current Talking point is to follow where the evidence leads. So most Dems in Congress are not Openly calling for Jared Kusher’s suspension or total denial of his Security Clearance Privileges. I am with Reps Waters, Lieu, etc. Sen Booker gave the same answer Rep Schiff(sp) of CA gave today.

  19. May 28, 2017 at 7:26 pm

As is now obvious to everyone, we are in completely uncharted territory largely because the Electoral College failed to perform as the Founders had wisely anticipated and proscribed.

Unified, unambiguous demand to the Congress by the 5 Former Presidents to remove and prosecute Trump and all who are known to have contributed to undermining the 2016 Election and other elements of our National Security, is essential, now.

    • 37 jacquelineoboomer
      May 28, 2017 at 9:37 pm

Brilliant, Bob. If the five of them could meet to discuss this …

      • May 28, 2017 at 11:23 pm

Jacqueline, we absolutely need them to unite and demand that Congress recognize the severity of the threat to America and act accordingly.

Extraordinary crisis require extraordinary actions and the last time the US confronted anything remotely comparable was when Senator Jeff Davis became the President of the Confederacy.

    • May 29, 2017 at 8:18 am

you are right …Bob…the Electoral college was to be the fail safe….there were members who asked to be briefed on the intelligence…perhaps if they had been they might have voted differently…

        GE 99ts.

Yes, Annie Lowrey is one of the “golden” media types (a huge snob and married to the equally insufferable Ezra Klein) — can’t stand either of them, but when something is as clear as the nose on your face, it’s hard for even the most insufferable to ignore (both she and Ezra are considered “liberals” within the elite east coast media circle):

Hi arapahoe – I found it hard to believe the story in her tweet – an unbelievable way to balance budgets. As usual, this puts massive pressure on working class families – not to mention what it does to the children.

Shame she lost credibility because – hate on the black guy.

If they cut teachers down to four days equaling less pay with less days to get through the same curriculum I foresee less people going into education as a career.

The 45 WH reality show is as bad as our worst fears imagined. When your worst fears are realized there is nothing left to fear and the only way is up and out. It is not the end of the world until it is the end of the world. In the meantime, there is much that we can do to try to change things for the better locally, state-wide and nationally. The haters have the wheel, but they are not having fun or winning and real victories. Much to their surprise the election result did not mean a mandate or that people, especially women, would lie down and take it. We know who the enemy is (because really, that is what they are) we are learning how to defeat them. Evil has a lot of rope, but in the end it is hanged with it.

Have you noticed that it is all of the people that he is hanging out with who are tweeting photos of their time together and not PBO? Former and current leaders and well-known people are totally fan boying him. PBO is welcome everywhere, except may be Russia. He is the only president of the modern era who did not have to spend his time as a former president trying to repair his reputation and finances, hiding out to avoid being called up for war crimes, jumping out of planes and wearing colorful socks, losing his mind, having to stay hidden at home because he is so hated. Just as he redefined the presidency (his model is the one that will be copied, not the current one), he is redefining the role of a former president mostly because the causes he took on are close to his heart and there is still much to do and in part because of the current situation. He is also still serving just by being who he is. It really helped that he was all over Europe this past week and people were reminded that not everyone in the US is crazy and that the country that produced the horrible 45 also produced the intelligent, informed, graceful, thoughtful, and truly strong 44.

I love that PBO and forever FLOTUS Michelle are going about their post-WH lives just as they did while they were in the White House. Behaving presidentially, showing respect and compassion and intelligence, and being greeted like rock stars everywhere. Seeing the photos of PBO with other current and former world leaders messes with my brain (in a good way) and I could easily imagine that they’re still in charge.

The silver lining that is the nightmare of DT.

    http://www.rawstory.com/2017/05/a-malaise-is-setting-in-some-dc-republicans-resigned-to-long-slow-death-of-trumps-presidency/

One Republican House staffer told Ball that while some Republicans think they can fight through the Trump crisis, another group simply believes that Trump’s presidency is doomed to “a long slow death.”

“This is like Reservoir Dogs,” the staffer said, referring to the Quentin Tarantino movie in which the majority of the main characters die at each others’ hands. “Everyone ends up dead on the floor.”

Similarly, one Republican lobbyist told Ball that the constant drumbeat of scandals might ensure some GOP lawmakers decide to throw in the towel instead of running for new terms.

“You finally have united Republican government, and this is as good as it gets?” he asked. “Why bother? A malaise is setting in.”

    He’s a petty, vile person.

    https://www.balloon-juice.com/2017/05/29/lets-make-trump-the-new-quisling/

This story is minor, but it expresses the essential nature of Trump on literal and metaphorical levels: Trump stole another family’s crest and replaced the “Integrity” motto with his own name. The rightful owners of the crest considered suing but decided not to when they were made aware of Trump’s typical response to suits: exhausting plaintiffs in court until they drop the matter.

But there’s another family property — a surname — that is far more fitting for Trump to usurp: Quisling. Most of us here have probably heard it, but I doubt one teenager in a thousand has.

It originated with Vidkun Quisling, who was installed as the leader of occupied Norway and who collaborated with the Nazis during WW2. Here he is seated with Heinrich Himmler:

Here’s how Churchill turned Quisling’s name into a synonym for “traitor” and “collaborator” in 1941:

“A vile race of Quislings — to use a new word which will carry the scorn of mankind down the centuries — is hired to fawn upon the conqueror, to collaborate in his designs and to enforce his rule upon their fellow countrymen while grovelling low themselves.”

Good morning everyone. Proud of the vets in my family. My father, World War II, my husband Korea, and my son, the Cold War. Also, my great grandfather, 6th Vermont in the Civil War. Thankful for my husband’s service particularly, because he gifted me with lifetime health insurance from his service. Yesterday I went to the cemetery and placed flowers and a flag around his marker. I still miss him after almost two years, and know that I always will. But his spirit is with me.

Reading about the malaise of Republicans, and that maybe they are facing reality with djt, it only took FOUR months! Feels like a decade to us, but I keep counting and it is only four months.

From what I’m reading about Putin’s visit to France, President Macron is not going to be conned by him any more than he was by djt. How fortunate for the world that the French election was held before this summit, and he was elected.

Republicans blinded by fear and rage, thirsty for power, desperate for a reclamation and reassertion of racial power, have cast their lot with the great deceiver and all their previous deal breakers are negotiable…
