I wonder if it’s even legal for Trump to have taped Comey without Comey’s knowledge or permission. Sounds shady to me. Trump better hope that such “tapes” do not actually exist. He is such a liar that they probably don’t exist anyways.

Ari Melber on MSNBC said today that in D.C., if one person in the conversation is both in and doing the recording, it’s legal. But Trump couldn’t, for instance, tape two or more other people who were unaware they were being recorded (if he weren’t in the recording himself).

It is even m ore important to grab all of the joy that you can. Spend time with friends and family, visit places near and far that you have been in awhile, do something physical, laugh out loud, watch reunion videos on YouTube. In other words, do not forget what life is all about. As bad as things are, there are no troops fighting on our shores, no food and fuel riots, and if you are not Black or Brown, you are relatively safe in your neighborhoods. Live the life that is worth fighting for and do not give these short-term criminals and cowards, your peace of mind, your health, or you joy.

Russia would have needed no inducements or collusion to support Trump’s election campaign. His personality is the kind they understand, his cynicism and his dishonesty are familiar, his greed is the same as their greed. Above all, his lack of respect for the law is their lack of respect for the law. Trump fired the FBI director to get him off his television screen; Russian police lock up dissidents to get them out of public view. No, it’s not the same thing. But it’s not that different either.

President Trump tweeted a thinly veiled threat to fired FBI Director James Comey, an extraordinary development in Trump’s ongoing feud with the agencies investigating alleged ties between his campaign and Russia.

The tweet seemed to suggest there are possibly recorded conversations that could be leaked to counter Comey if necessary: “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press.”

Another tweet from the President offered a potential solution to criticisms that the White House can’t get its story straight about Comey’s firing: cancel all press briefings.

“As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!” Trump tweeted. “Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future “press briefings” and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???”

    3. Claim there is no income or debt beyond that depends entirely on Trump’s lawyers’ definition of “RUSSIAN ENTITY”

    4. How do Trump’s lawyers define a “RUSSIAN ENTITY.” They do not define the term.

Were these people invited or did they just tell the college presidents that they were coming? Out of all of the outstanding A-A’s in all walks of life, why in the world were DeVos and Conryn ever in the running? Slave master mentality is obviously at play here. Thought A-A students would be so grateful for white folks to recognize them, did they? The students do not need their “favor” or condescension, or false words, especially when their actions hurt so many aspects of Black lives. Today’s young people have very different ideas about politics, the political parties, and how to live in a racists world that are very different from their parents and grandparents. White folks need to catch up.

  29. May 12, 2017 at 1:35 pm

There must be some financial motivation for these HBCU presidents to extend invitations to the likes of Devos and Cornyn. The students are right. Having commencement speakers who exhibit values that are contrary to theirs and whose actions work to oppress rather than benefit would cast a shroud over a day that should be jubilant for them.

A historically black college in Houston is canceling Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) planned commencement address, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

In the run-up to the Saturday ceremony, 850 students at Texas Southern University had signed a petition urging the school to pull the plug on Cornyn’s speech.

“Having a politician such as him speak at our institution is an insult to the students, to TSU, and to all HBCUs,” the petition reads, using the acronym for historically black colleges and universities.

“This is our graduation. We have the right to decide if we want to refuse to sit and listen to the words of a politician who chooses to use his political power in ways that continually harm marginalized and oppressed people.”

The petition accused Cornyn, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate, of supporting “discriminatory policies and politicians,” and argued that hosting him as a commencement speaker would contradict the university’s values.

      Thanks, SW.

This whole mess makes me think of all of the ways that white folks have used institutions to influence and to control Black people, and it makes my blood boil. The preachers who only read the scripture about being obedient to masters, but not the ones that followed that said if you can get your freedom do so; the white men who sat on the boards and were presidents of Spellman and other HBCU’s until about 25 years ago; the so-called benefactors who believe in charity rather than opportunity and upward mobility; the military that offered death as cannon-fodder to Black men and boys as a way to prove their loyalty and as a pathway to full citizenship, but reneged on their promises; the politicians, democrats and republicans who tell us “what do you have to lose” while each will use our votes and still keep us on the bottom; being told by society at large that we should wait, that we should be grateful, and for so many offenses large and small. So proud of these students who did not allow themselves to be used.

State-wide stakeout all “six of John Cornyn’s Texas offices: Austin, Dallas, Harlingen, Houston, Lubbock, and San Antonio” at the end of the month.

Haven’t read this article, but love the photos — I’ve been to Houston a few times, really like the city (so different from many other parts of Texas), but not inclined to live through their 100F degree summers with humidity nearly that high. 😦

A formal announcement is expected to come at the network’s upfront presentation next week.
The end of the road is in sight for ABC’s Scandal.

The network is expected to announce at next week’s upfront presentation that the Shonda Rhimes drama starring Kerry Washington will end with its previously announced seventh season.

Rhimes has been vocal about the show’s uncertain future in the country’s current political climate. “I used to know how it ended, and then Donald Trump was elected,” she told The Hollywood Reporter during an interview for its 100th episode. “We had a destination, and I don’t know if that’s our destination anymore.”

This season, writers had to scrap a planned storyline that featured Russians hacking the presidential election when reality struck too close to home for ABC’s political thriller. A new president to replace Tony Goldwyn’s Fitzgerald Grant is expected to be revealed before the show wraps this season.

Sources note that Rhimes always saw Scandal as a seven-season show. The prolific producer told THR ahead of season four that her fast-paced game-changing series — inspired by the life of fixer Judy Smith (who serves as a co-executive producer) wasn’t a “10-season or eight-season show. … I’ve already decided when Scandal is ending,” she said at the time. “I think there’s only so much Scandal you can tell satisfactorily. The Fitz-Liv thing can only be told so long and in such a way. … I’ve already decided how long that is and what that’s going to be.”

This weekend the US Post Office is accepting bags of food that will be delivered to local food banks. I have been participating for about ten years. Unfortunately they accept canned foods and non-parishables. If you can please help the local food pantries in your neighborhoods. I know there are many of my TOD who give to our fellow americans who are struggling. But for the grace of God this could be any of us or our families. I remember growing up when there was more month than money to eat every week my mother, brothers and I would go to the local missions to get a bag of food after sitting through church service (food for the soul). I remember sitting there singing hymns and listening to the service with other needy families and homeless looking for a meal. I always thank God He made it possible that I can give something back to others.

This is why the Cabinet was chosen.

The Trump Administration and Putin’s Russia are a White Nationalist alliance.

Richard Spencer and the #MacronLeaks instigator both have Russian wives.

David Duke timeshares a living space in Russia with another white supremacist. Our MSM aided and abetted Trump by totally ignoring Duke’s Trump-cheerleading posts during election season.

White Nationalists Bannon and Miller chose Cabinet nominees intended to erode their agencies (and civil rights and protections) from within. That’s why Confederate Jeff Sessions was put in position to reinstate harsh drug penalties and inflict maximum damage on POC.

      DeVos will decimate public education.

Carson will let HUD wither on the vine.

Rick Perry in charge of the Dept. of Energy? Pruitt (oil lobby) in charge of the EPA?

Civil rights groups need to be on constant RED ALERT until something somehow loosens this administration’s stranglehold on our democracy.

    I remember reading and hearing that their interaction in which Omarosa threatened Ms. Ryan “was recorded”;
