In the I may be old but I’m not dead yet category, anybody else spot the curly headed guy at the ceremony tonight whom I think might be a new hire on President Obama’s Secret Service detail? He was in position a couple agents over on the rope line to the President’s left, and seemed to be one of the last ones to follow him out of the room. Unless I dreamed that. What a cutie.

    beeb’s liveblog

France’s next president is, let’s face it, pretty youthful.

In 2010, David Cameron became the youngest UK prime minister since 1812 when he came to office at 43.

Barack Obama was also thought to be quite sprightly when he became US president in 2009 at the age of 47.

But Mr Macron, at just 39, is much younger. Still, he has some competition in Europe.

In Belgium, Prime Minister Charles Michel was 38 when he became PM in 2014. Last year, Juri Ratas became Estonian PM at 38. In Hungary, Viktor Orban was just 35 when he became PM for the first time in 1998, and Greek Prime MInister Alexis Tsipras was 40 when he was first took office in January 2015.

GM amk, good to see you dropping by the village tonight.

Hope you’ll be around for PBO’s trip to Europe (think he might be on a plane even as we speak).

And if you look at North America, only the US has an old coot as FUBAR president.

Trudeau was born on Christmas Day, 1971, Enrique Pena Nieto July 20, 1966.

          You got that right.

I’m not against old either (unlike many others concerned about Uncle Joe’s age, think he would be a great President), but DJT’s mind and actions are throwbacks to the 1950-60s when he was a young man.

The world has moved on, but he and his bigoted supporters still think it’s 1959.

Taking a closer look at the final results that have just been posted, a few things jump out.

One is that more registered voters actually abstained than voted for Marine Le Pen (12 million vs. 10.6 million).

Of those who did go to vote, 8.49% (3 million people) cast blank ballots, while 3% (1.06 million) spoiled theirs. ah, the french loony left/bs bots.

Not yet but I’m sure it will come. But that might turn into something we don’t want to deal with if you catch my drift. I would be more interested to know what they did to prevent hacking of their voting machines. If that were to come out it would be the most powerful indictment of what actually happened in the 2016 US election. It become clear beyond a doubt the 2016 federal election results were the result of literally hacking the vote.

      • May 8, 2017 at 1:06 pm

Actually they knew about the hacking, spoke about it in advance and loaded wikileaks with fake emails and phony accounts to a phishing site and made wikileaks look really stupid. Also the media chose to ignore unverified, hacked information. Imagine that!

    GM, TOD ohana.
Still thinking about PBO’s speech last night; so many ideas to mull over and to savor. His generosity was again on full display as much of his speech was a gift to the Kennedy family as he wove the things that JFK said and did throughout his comments, and how he tied in much of his success to what various family members had done that inspired him and made his life possible. He showed courage by not shying away from the current healthcare battle, calling out congress and challenging them to do better by the American people. His calm, yet passionate voice, his yearning and desire for the best in us for the best of our country reached out beyond the JFK center to touch and inspire those who watched beyond those walls. He reminded us again of who we are, what we can be, the fight ahead and what it will take to bend the arc of justice farther. We are reminded of what principled leadership looks like, that we can expect more of those who inhabit public office and that we are not sheep who must take whatever is handed out to us.
Safe journeys this week, PBO. May God continue to bless and keep you.

PBO’s continued presence on the world’s stage reminds others that all of us are not crazy and depraved; that millions more voted for his vision and his style of governance, the First Clown can rant and lie on Twitter, and the msm can continue their both sides lie, but the truth is clear for all to see. It is precisely because the haters in government know that they are not on PBO’s level that they still go after him and those he loved and tried to protect (us). They want to eradicate him and us so that they can feel good about themselves and bask in their false sense of superiority. I pray that the SS will be even more vigilant than they were when PBO was in office because they want to silence him and to devastate us. May God continue to keep and bless Barack Hussein Obama, 44th president of these United States.

      May 8, 2017 at 11:44 am

Yesterday at our brunch with my TOD SoCal family, told them I had a rant stored up inside me. During the 8 yrs PBO was in office the left wing AA crazies – Tavis Smelly, Ben Jealous, Goofus wild haired Professor do-nothing Corney West, Van Jones, and Keith Ellison plus all the AA’s who complained that PBO did not “fix” all of the AA community problems since the country began – HAVE NOT DONE A G – D BEFORE PBO AND AFTER PBO. These so-called leaders have not lifted one AA male up by meeting with them, starting programs, etc., since Jesse Jackson. These grifters won’t and can’t do anything unless it enriches them personally. You never hear about any of them mentoring young men personally or helping them go to college. They are too busy complaining about what PBO has not done. I was watching TS on PBS interview the lady who stepped down from the FEC because the other GOP members would not go after clear violations from within their own party. She said with a 50% GOP & DEM appointed body nothing gets done. TS asked her if PBO was at fault for not doing more? This is what always comes out of his mouth no matter who is interviewed. I do not watch his show and never will.

Last night after the Profiles in Courage award I was flipping channels and Tweety was talking to Eugene Robinson some other liberal and two republicants. The one guy said the speech PBO gave was very good but if he only gave a speech like that when he first came into office things would have been so great. The other GOP sour – puss said he was not a good speech no one would remember it the next day. At least Tweety never went back to this guy and only talked to the other republicant who had the courage to say it was a good speech and the other liberals.

I thoroughly enjoyed PBO speech last time. It was so comforting and he was so relaxed and calm, that it made me calm. I and the rest of the sane world really miss him.

Of course, now MSNBC is asking why it took so long for this info to get out. But Clint Watts is on saying “Who wasn’t warned!” Go, Clint!
