Dear TOD, after yesterday’s healthcare debacle most of us might be a bit down but we are NEVER OUT.
We will keep on fighting the good fight until the Trumpsters and congress are sent to the dust bin of history.
Remember the ACA is still the law of the land. Indivisible sent out this informative email yesterday which
gave alot of encouraging facts. I will attempt to copy/paste a portion of it here. Keep the faith.
Even after today’s vote, Affordable Care Act is still the law of the land. The legislative fight continues, and it only gets harder for Trump now. Because of you

It’s hard to overstate how cruel this bill is. Simply put, Republicans got TrumpCare passed in the House today by making it more extreme. They had to convince the uber-conservatives in the Freedom Caucus to vote for it, so they had to make it even crueler. The original failed TrumpCare bill last month stripped healthcare from 24 million Americans. But that wasn’t enough for them. The new bill builds on that by:

    Gutting protections for pre-existing conditions

Eliminating services for special needs kids in schools

Letting insurers effectively charge women more than men

    TrumpCare is a moral monstrosity.

We knew this was coming. Today is a setback, but we always knew the House would be tough for us. We were never supposed to win the House. It’s a majoritarian institution—the party in power sets the rules and decides what gets a vote. Everybody assumed that Trump’s lackeys would jam through TrumpCare in January and that would be that.

But it wasn’t. A bill that should have taken them days instead took FIVE MONTHS. And that’s because resistance groups across the country stood indivisible. We defeated the bill last month together. For months, we blocked the number one legislative priority of a unified conservative government. We proved how powerful constituents are.

And here’s the thing—this was supposed to be the easy part. To become law, this bill has to go through a 5-step process:

    Pass in the House

Pass an amended version in the Senate

Go to “conference“ to hammer out differences between the House and Senate

    Pass in the House again

    Pass in the Senate again

It took them 5 months to take the first, and easiest step – passing a repeal that they’ve passed literally dozens of times through the House before. The next steps are much harder – and we’re going to be there, every step of the way, until this bill collapses under the weight of its own lies and cruelty.

11 Days of recess starts today—this our chance. At this very moment, your Representatives are on flights back home to your district. Over the next week they’ll be holding fundraisers and working out of their district offices. As of today, only five members of Congress have scheduled town halls. This is our chance to provide IMMEDIATE feedback to our representatives. First, call on them publicly to have a town hall to explain their vote on TrumpCare. If they won’t, show up and give clear feedback. When these members are forced to vote again on TrumpCare, they will look back to the responses of their constituents this week.

New resources to fight back. To help you make your voice heard, we’ve put together an updated TrumpCare resources webpage here to make the most of the next 11 days. This includes a new toolkit on how to implement an innovative and effective tactic we’ve seen from the field: staging a “die-in” at a member of Congress’ public event or congressional district office. We’ve seen local indivisible groups across the country use this tactic to effectively pressure their Representative and get excellent local press, which compounds the pressure. Start planning your die-in for this week of recess now.

Thanks hope44- I truly needed this today. The rethugs are celebrating as if the ACA is gone, but they have taken this vote many times and gotten no further. If anything, their votes make them vulnerable to voters’ wrath after the content and intent of the bill is recognized by their constituents. You do your name proud, hope44!❤

Welp, with this vote yesterday the GOP finally came for her base. And I’m sure her base thought she was exempted from this madness, but oh no, and now she must figure out a way to join the unwashed and stop voting against her own best interest.

The Senate is on the clock, they aren’t going to touch Obamacare with a ten foot pole. Those that voted to repeal Obamacare were the canaries in the coal mine. Now we pound each representative that voted for repeal until election day.

Are we expendable actors in A SNUFF MOVIE?
Tears falling…still falling. What did we witness yesterday? Such cruelty to other human beings…this bragging…this open murder of Americans of all ages. GOP have killed so many by denying Medicaid Expansion since 2010 and got away with it. Now they vote for states and Big insurance to set their own agenda again…not scoring the bill, making sure it wasn’t read in advance, not posting it as promised, cutting a big chunk of the U.S. economy and jobs. To please the rich, GOP happy to condemn others to die while keeping the ACA benefits for themselves. KILLING and leaving people to die, then lying and bragging about it. Fellow Americans doing investigations must come out, end this abomination Trump asap.
The despots tearing down America for their own ends want to protect Trump’s crimes – and it won’t stop here.

Getting people with pre-existing conditions back into the churches…first assumes that there is NO ONE in church that has a pre-existing condition. Aside from that, does that mean insurance companies will ignore pre-existing conditions for people who are in the church — i.e., reduce the cost of their premiums?

Listening to Thom Hartman today. He mentioned that recently he remembered an interview that T did back in the 80’s. The interviewer asked T what his favorite book is. His answer: The Life of P.T. Barnum. Thom said he ordered the book and recently finished reading it. Easy, quick 80 pages. Following is the description of the book from Amazon. Who does it remind you of?!??!?

This is the story of P.T. Barnum, the world-renowned showman, written by the man himself. It tells of “his early life and struggles; bold ventures and brilliant successes; wonderful career in which he made and lost fortunes, captivated kings, queens, nobility, and millions of people; his genius, wit, eloquence, public benefactor, [and] life as a citizen.” It is “a remarkable story, abounding in fascinating incidents, thrilling episodes, and marvelous achievements.” Barnum wrote, “That my narrative is interspersed with amusing incidents, and even the recital of some very practical jokes, is simply because my natural disposition impels me to look upon the brighter side of life, and I hope my humorous experiences will entertain my readers as much as they were enjoyed by myself.”

    …..”world-renowned showman……..”

…“In 2008, I was inspired by President Obama’s vision for America and all the promises that he laid out for our country,” Schlossberg said, of the committee’s decision to honor the former President. “This award really recognizes that he made tough choices over the last 8 years to execute on that vision — to give people health care, to get serious about climate change, and to reach out to international partners and really improve America’s standing in the world. And that takes political courage.”

“I think we’re seeing today it’s pretty easy to criticize without offering solutions,” he added. “And President Obama did not do that. He really had the courage to govern responsibly.”

Kennedy agreed with her son, revealing that she’s “thrilled” with the choice. …http://nydn.us/2pOUCSK

Hello out there. Sorry I’ve been gone so long…been lurking though. 😉

I became confused when I heard the word “Service” used
    with these agencies:

    Internal Revenue ‘Service’
    U.S. Postal ‘Service’
    Cable TV ‘Service’
    Civil ‘Service’
State, City, County & Public ‘Service’
    Customer ‘Service’

This is not what I thought ‘Service’ meant.

But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them
said he had hired a bull to ‘Service’ a few cows.

BAM!!! It all came into focus. Now I understand what all
    those agencies are doing.

I hope that you are now just as enlightened as I am.
