You know if he turned that fee down they’d say he’s elitist. If he refused to speak to Wall Street they’d say he’s a hypocrite. If he scratched his eyebrow they’d say he’s signaling terrorists. This brouhaha around this speech is ridiculous; but I hope it leads to more people actually watching, listening, and paying attention to PBO.

    Au ⭐ for GGail.
One thing I am Certain about Pres Obama is that he’s a principled man. If $$ was his ONLY Goal, he would have cashed in right after Harvard.
Pres Obama is OK with himself.
The EmoProgs Chattering Class will do their thing.
Pres Obama is Nobody’s Fool nor would he buckle under the Envy Better Crocodile Screaming Tears masquerading as Reasoned Outrage. Frankly my Dears, Pres Obama don’t Play That!

In every Measure, #Dems outperform the #GOPers in making US & the World Better. That is bothering EmoProgs & some Rightwingers.
How Dare Pres Obama be Loved?
      Strange, but True!

And I wish they would keep Truman and dear Jimmy Carter out of this. Truman and Carter both had farms to support them. What does Obama have besides his pension? Indeed Truman is the reason that Presidents began to get pensions. He was so poor he needed help. It wasn’t nobility, but poverty, and the fact that he wouldn’t want to be on Corporate Boards. And some Boards thought he was a bit too outspoken for their taste.

(He hated that Clinton and Daddy Bush was raking it in-more likely he hated that Clinton wasn’t begging on the street)

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Former_Presidents_Act (1958)

But he’s also doing it for Michelle. 20k a year? Not sure what she would have to relinquish for this, but that’s way too low for a former First Lady. And this sum gives more insight into perhaps why Jackie married Onassis. She needed security beyond whatever was available. She barely had worked outside the home, was pretty young and had children to raise.

Prepare to start wearing ear plugs: There’s no doubt movies in the works one he finishes his Presidential memoir. Hollywood likes him. Obama is guaranteed box office. Ie expect at least three movies (not including whatever they film when it finally ends for him)

The haters will not stop because PBO is not what they think Black men are in their tiny little minds. He shows all of them up just be being himself; he gives the lie to all of their fevered dreams; he keeps winning and millions of all races and nationalities love and defend him. They know that they are they are little men standing below a giant and their jealousy fueled hatred is eating them up. It is unbelievable that they still try to persecute him even after he is no longer in the job. Their dearest wish is that we will turn against our 44ever president, but they wish this in vain.

They are mad because 44 and Forever FLOTUS are getting paid Beyonce and Jay-z money for talking and informing. Not shucking and jiving or carrying a ball of some sort. 44 and Forever FLOTUS are here to educate, NOT entertain…

This the problem .Their obsession with 44 and Forever FLOTUS continue post-White House, because what drove them crazy for 8 years: their competence and excellence shines through.

THAT, combined with the fact that their vessel for White Supremacy is an international embarrassment….

    Drives them nuts.

They weren’t able to control 44 when in office, and they still can’t.

You speak TRUTH, Rikyrah! Lets be honest, a great many white people prefer ignorant and unsuccessful Black people over educated and prosperous ones. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama debunked the myth of “white supremacy” by the way they conducted themselves in the White House and on the world stage. Some hateful and envious Americans, both on the right and the left, unleashed relentless, vile and ugly attacks on President Obama. Thankfully, their attacks failed miserably! Both President Obama and First Lady, Michelle Obama, are still loved and highly respected, both at home and abroad. It’s that love and respect that explains why companies and organizations, both here and abroad, are eager and willing to pay to hear them speak.

It absolutely does eat them alive. Somewhere deep in their lizard brains, they know they can never approach the quality person he is, so like all those with this raging envy, they lash out at him. I am reminded of Iago, and his raging jealousy of Othello. Study the play as you will, you cannot find a real motive for his actions against Othello…..except raging, green, jealousy. Iago knows he will never be the person Othello is, his wife is not as beautiful as Desdemona, men will never follow him willingly and happily like they do Othello, and I also have always wondered if there is racial bigotry in this, as Othello is a Moor, and Iago is an Italian. However, Othello is not the quality person Obama is…..he has several fatal flaws, which president Obama does not. Othello is pushed into killing his wife, which he later deeply regrets…….he is led by a clever devil. I am sure some of these haters keep hoping that their lies and hate will push PBO to do something precipitous. It hasn’t, it doesn’t, and it won’t, and this also drives them even crazier.

President Obama and his wife just have more of my love and respect all the time.

Legal cash: Politicians on both sides of the aisle are typically paid good money for speaking gigs, but suddenly it’s a problem when possibly the greatest statesman America has ever known – President Barack Obama – is offered cash commensurate with his demonstrated talents and achievements.

Meanwhile we apparently have a White House propped up by a HOSTILE foreign government and a new president profiting from his personal businesses, taking lavish vacations on tax payer money. Meanwhile his son in law who he has put-in-charge-of-everything-in-the -world , Jared Kushner, has real estate holdings that have doubled since 2012. Meanwhile a mining firm run by the Steinmetz family has been Kushner’s secret financier for over $100 million in recent NY real estate purchases.

        from the article”

Economic populism and what are commonly erroneously and dismissively referred to as “social issues” — such as reproductive rights, immigration reform and civil rights for people of color, those who have disabilities, people of all faiths, LGBT people and women — are indivisible. Sanders routinely demonstrates his own lack of progressive values by dividing them.

There is no economic populism without abortion rights and civil rights. No one can have economic justice if he or she doesn’t have fundamental rights. Yet Sanders has made it plain that abortion rights are negotiable and brushes off “identity politics.” He consistently argues that his values — and his alone — should define what it is to be progressive. (Which can’t help but remind one of Donald Trump’s unilateral defining of terms.)

Further, Sanders routinely divides matters of race and gender and class — which, again, cannot be untwined — by discussing the “pain” and needs of working-class voters and perpetuating the dangerous myth that the Democrats have ignored them. Sanders has insisted that Democrats have failed to reach these voters, while dismissing the fact that 75 percent of working-class voters of color voted for Clinton, not Trump, last year.

    On the Bering Sea Elders.
Background: Trump has also revoked executive order 13754, the Northern Bering Sea Climate Resilience issued, by PBO Dec 9 2016.
After years of tireless work by local tribes and non-profits, President Obama made it LAW for the Elders to be included in the conversation.
Now Trump has CUT them out. This puts the incredibly fragile Bering Sea at risk of drilling. Say bye bye to wild salmon if Death & Destruction Junior and his pals gets their way. All of the wild salmon we eat in the lower 49 states is from the Bering Sea.

Pew Research 2016: 74% of American adults said “the country should do whatever it takes to protect the environment.”
-Yesterday Trumputin signed an EO to open up areas of the Arctic and Atlantic protected against oil and gas development by PBO.
-Last year President Obama extended “permanent protections for large swaths of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. The Obama Administration stated that “no president has ever acted to reverse an indefinite withdrawal” and that the permanent ban would “stand the test of time.”

      GE Eve.

It is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE the crap that @nytimes and WaPo are publishing now, in the guise of “punditry,” while DJT is not even trying to hide his campaign for autocratic jackbooted (white supremacist) thugocracy to support this country’s oligarchs.

IT IS NOT NORMAL for a president to CAMPAIGN while in office for 100 days. This is what third world dictators do. DJT is seeking advice from the worst autocrats on the planet:

This was not a campaign rally, it was a way to whip his white supremacist base into a frenzy:

I cannot believe that the MSM continues to treat this usurping of democracy as “move along, nothing to see here.”

So your so called president is inviting all the RWNJ leaders to meet him while ignore or insulting all those the US has called friends over the past 70 years. Seems he is going to join forces with the despots of the world in an attempt to wipe out any form of democracy.

My brain will never comprehend that this is what the US stands for – but we sure don’t see much friendship there any more.

Meanwhile all the press can do is continue to attack PBO – as they have for the past 8 years. Sycophants – all of them Katie.

Ruffini’s tweet is a good comparison, and you’d think maybe critics would stop for a moment and wonder *why* the Obamas’ got a well-deserved amount — could it be that publishers know there’s a demand for memoirs from both #Forever44 and #ForeverFLOTUS? (rhetorical question)

I’m starting to think that nothing will become of this Trump/Russia investigation. We have both houses of congress barely doing any investigating. The head of the FBI is sitting around writing columns about what he said during the election. Nobody has been indicted and the only reason Flynn left the Whitehouse is because Trump told him to, and not because Flynn was facing any sort of legal trouble. We’re coming up on six months of Trump as President and his children are flying around world making money without a care in the world. According to twitter Trump is already in handcuffs, well then show me the pictures.

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the dean of the Florida legislative delegation and the first Cuban American elected to Congress, is retiring at the end of her term next year, saying it’s time to move on after 38 years in elected office.

Her unexpected retirement marks the end of a storied career in which Ros-Lehtinen repeatedly broke political ground as a Cuban-American woman — and gives Democrats an opportunity to pick up a South Florida congressional seat in 2018.
