    Good Evening TODVille!

    Hope everyone is holding strong. We cannot let the one-who-shall-not-be-named get the better of us.

    Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal by requesting the “unmasking” of US individuals’ identities, multiple sources in both parties say.

    Their private assessment comes after a review of the same intelligence reports brought to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes. It also contradicts President Donald Trump’s allegations that former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice broke the law by requesting some individuals in the intelligence reports be identified, or unmasked.

    One congressional intelligence source described the requests made by Rice as “normal and appropriate.” Another source said there’s “absolutely” no smoking gun in the reports, urging the White House to declassify them to make clear there was nothing alarming in the documents.

      Spicer is Stupid. He also said that Trump was trying to Destabilize the Region.

    April 11, 2017 at 8:25 pm

    one can see things happening in the following order:

    1. Spicer’s holocaust comments cause outrage;

    2. Washington Post published a story about FBI getting a FISA warrant on Carter Page in connection to #TrumpRussia;

    3. homegrown demagogue fires Spicer as a way to grab headlines away from the new headlines about FBI, FISA, Carter Page, #TrumpRussia;

    4. MSM gravitates to devoting the bulk of their air time and written pages to Spicer’s resignation rather than #TrumpRussia;

    [Is this for real? If so, all I got to say is “Damn!” Oh shame!]

    BERLIN — Behind a metal gate in Berlin, in a small courtyard nestled between a residential building and a car park, stands a piece of American history.

    The Detroit home of civil rights icon Rosa Parks has been painstakingly rebuilt here by American artist Ryan Mendoza outside his studio in the Wedding district of the German capital.

    The unlikely location is the result of the financial crisis of 2008 and Detroit’s dramatic decline. Like thousands of houses in Detroit, Parks’ home was abandoned after the sub-prime mortgage crisis hit. Authorities planned to demolish it in an effort to clean up the city.

    That Parks had moved there only two years after becoming famous for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, Ala., did not matter.

    To stop the demolition, Parks’ niece Rhea McCauley bought the house from the city for $500 and donated it to Mendoza, who already had moved a Detroit house to Europe as part of an art project.

    When Mendoza said he wanted to bring Parks’ house to his studio in Berlin, McCauley agreed.

    “It is something that is precious,” she told The Associated Press while visiting the wooden two-story house in Berlin this week for the first time. “And it is priceless. And yet it is being mistreated. That’s what I saw. And that’s how it felt. And so when I met Ryan and he said, ‘Let’s bring it to Berlin and restore it,’ I said yes.”

    In the summer of 2016, Mendoza and volunteers took the house apart, put it into containers and shipped it to Germany.

    Mendoza has spent six months rebuilding it.

    Prince of Darkness: The Untold Story of Jeremiah G. Hamilton, Wall Street’s First Black Millionaire sheds light on the obscure story of Hamilton, who was mentioned in an obituary for Cornelius Vanderbilt as the tycoon’s true rival. White’s book details the rise of Hamilton as he is chased out of Haiti and becomes a broker and land agent in 19th century New York, his success prickling both white and black society. He broke many taboos of the times, including marrying a white woman and owning stock in rail companies on whose trains he wasn’t legally allowed to ride. When Hamilton died, obits at the time called him the richest black man in America.

    The book has been awarded the Society of Historians of the Early American Republic’s best book prize and the 2016 New York City Book Award.

    As all of us are, I’ve been thinking of the glorious days of President Obama. By this time in his first term, he had already made an official visit to Canada, and in April he visited the UK, France, Germany, Iraq and Turkey. We went with him on those trips. I remember the trip to Strasbourg, France well, because some of the fashion writers wrote about a “fashion duel” between Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni. I even remember one of the outfits FLOTUS wore on that trip. PBO went to the NATO Summit meeting. He made us so proud! He began rebuilding our credibility and reputation…..

    Last night, tonight, and tomorrow night I am watching The Great War on PBS. It is, to me, riveting. So many areas covered. It has dealt extensively with the African-American troops…..ever hear of the Harlem Hellfighters? The first heroes of the war came from that group. They were “loaned to France” and truly showed their mettle. They were treated differently by the French, better.

    Wilson was a contradictory man, some great idealism, and some disgusting regressivism. Since visiting Vimy Ridge in 2010 I have been somewhat obsessed with World War I, an era we study little, and for the most part don’t know much about. To the Europeans, it is yesterday and still resonates with them.

    Because the Dem lost by less? That doesn’t count for much.

    in KANSAS, which elected Brownback twice, where the liberals are Republiklowns who tolerate public schools and think the courts should exist; by six points in a district that has gone 60+ for RWNJs for the last umpty elections; against a Democrat with no money, not helped by the state party (such as it is, and it isn’t much); against the state treasurer, who won statewide by some ridiculous margin; in a special election, which always has low turnout and usually favors Republiklowns.

    Yes, it is a very big deal, and depending how GA-6 and Montana go next week. may mean a wave is coming.

        I have been noticing a lot of Russians in California lately. I will never forget the woman I met about four years ago who I met feeding cats in my neighborhood. She was walking her dog and said she was on “disability” because she hurt her back working as a “Temp” for a local company. I gave her a ride to the vet when she told me she was Russian and that her husband was in a Cuban prison. She lived in Cuba where her husband was in the Russian military and he did something that landed him in prison. Her son was in Canada and her daughter was living here in Pasadena. I think she was on a work visa and as soon as her disability was up she was going to her son in Canada. She said she was not going back to Cuba. I remember her saying that America needs someone who rules like Putin with an “Iron Fist”. I told her if she loved Putin so damn much she needs to go back to Russia. How hypocritical she was living in a “free” country to say how America needs to have a murderous dictator ruler. She really pissed me off and never had anything to do with her again. Yesterday this guy I was chatting with in Ralph’s was also from Russia.

      So you have a President who is talking like that, well that nutcase leader in North Korea is listening to these words. What if they feel threaten and they use nuclear missiles. Remember when your President Obama said that words matter, you just can’t say anything that comes to your mind. Trump haven’t learn that.

The Homeless Alliance, which is funded by the United Fund, provides two meals a day five days a week, but no meals are provided on weekends.
