All of this is to change the narrative; it will fail and even more people will be determined to get him out. He will also have trouble with his supporters who care nothing about Muslims or anyone who is not white.

My worry is the strike will change the narrative away from the Russian meddling involvement inquiry and have the GOP supporting DJT as they like strong military action. Those voting for him like the strong Guy impulsive fast strike action. It also may give him a “Hey see I am not in bed with the Russians!” It also may raise his poll numbers.

His lust to look like a credible strongman to his buddy Putin is worse than GWB’s desire to look more many than Poppy Bush. UGH! Unintended consequences will surely follow.

If this period of horrible time doesn’t get people OFF THE COUCH and vote these corrupt, horrid people out of congress…then we might all well all curl up in a ball. This is a major wake up for those that have been asleep. We need control of the House and Senate. End of story.

Indeed! This is all a distraction for putin and 45, to refocus the demonstrators in russia and distract from putin ties for 45 and election influence/ tampering. My surprise is that people are going after 45 and his admin only, all republicans should be feeling the heat especially the leaders in both house and senate who knew about the russia / trump collusion.

So off topic! Just sharing my joy! I got online yesterday when they opened up the site for tickets to NMAAHC for July. I felt like a warrior when I finally got my tickets for the day we wanted! I’m so excited! Let me tell you, when they say those tickets go fast, they’re serious! Have your browser open before the site, refresh on time, and go for it!

The other thing that made me cackle …. there are no portraits of Humpty Dumpty & Indiana Snake Fish up at gov. buildings that I’ve passed along the days. At first I thought that it takes time, etc. They did take down PBO and VPJoey’s right after 1/20, but the walls that I’ve seen thus far are still blank. A tale of that Welfare Queen Gang. 🙂

    • 25 jacquelineoboomer
      April 6, 2017 at 11:02 pm

That portrait story makes me smile – the fact they’re not up yet. When I was in Navy Public Affairs, I used to be in charge of making sure those portraits got switched out on a timely basis, in our main building. Used to be you had to wait for the photos to be mailed … then finally we could just download them from a website. So there’s no excuse for this. Except they probably can’t get a good picture of either one of those dawgs!

And good for you, getting your tickets!

      • 26 Gazelle
        April 6, 2017 at 11:16 pm

JO’B first time I passed this particular building, which I do almost everyday, PBO & VPJoey’s photos were gone. Melancholy moment for me. I thought they’d have Humpty’s up next. Today, almost 3 months later, none of that ugliness! I did a skip & a holler right past that door! Now, I’m compelled to check all the other buildings! LOL! 🙂

RE: tickets, I’m so happy! It was a bright moment in a tough few months! 🙂

I was already retired when President Obama came into office, but the first time I was in a government building after that, I literally spotted his photo, walked up to it, stood there smiling at it like it was going to talk back to me, and if I had a candle, would have lit it in ceremonial fashion. What a moment!

    • April 6, 2017 at 11:05 pm

      GM Sheila.

Heard on the radio yesterday that at yesterday’s press conference, King Abdullah of Jordan said the same thing that PBO and Josh Earnest always did — that there must be a political solution in place for Syria to remain intact as a geographic whole (paraphrasing, don’t recall exact quote).

      From Meta’s Twitter timeline:

And @CBSradionews also said several times on Tuesday that Sean Spicer said that the DJT administration doesn’t want a regime change in Syria.

Just saw the news when I refreshed YouTube and opened TOD for the latest.

I was feeling off all day – having what I call a particularly “bad Trump Day”. Something felt not right.

Here is what I am suspecting at this moment: Was that chemical attack a set-up for Trump to have a reason to get a “win” and look “strong”? I’m thinking Russia is ready to let go of Assad and is giving Trump this in exchange for sanctions being lifted and them being able to take Crimea and ultimately Ukraine and Eastern Europe. There’s no attacking Syria w/o Russia’s approval. If they cave on this and Assad goes, that means that Putin knew about it ahead of time, maybe even suggested it and set it up in exchange for favors. This stinks.

Gonna be praying and eating a lot of ice cream and chocolate in the coming days.

    Love to all of you {{{{TOD}}}}

    Some points to ponder.

From a TPM Prime member: “I am all in favor of getting rid of the filibuster. So much the better if the Republicans get rid of it. The filibuster is predominantly a conservative tool for obstructing progressive reforms. Historically, it has been used to support slavery. Later it was used to obstruct civil rights legislation and things like anti-lynching laws. One of the reasons the Affordable Care Act did not include a public option or more stringent price controls is because of the filibuster. The Democrats had to make a lot of concessions to meet the 60 vote threshold. Without the filibuster, the Affordable Care Act would have been a much better law. With respect to the Obamacare repeal, it is important to remember many of the tax and subsidy portions of the Affordable Care Act were passed through reconciliation. That means, they are set to expire after ten years, just in time for the 2020 general election. Guess when the Republican’s repeal of those same provisions were going to kick in? 2020. That means the Republicans’s so called Obamacare repeal was meaningless, because the very provisions they were going to repeal were going to sunset at the very same time. With respect to the Gorsuch nomination, the filibuster is pretty meaningless anyway. At least for the next four years, the Democrats are not going to pass any legislation the Court will want to overturn. In fact, I suspect the Court will be supporting a lot of Trump’s executive actions, and in the process create a lot of precedents in favor of a strong executive. Keep in mind, any decision benefiting a Republican president, can be used by a future Democratic president. At the worst, a future Democratic government can amend the judiciary act to increase the number of justices.”

Trump killed over 1,400 civilians last month in Iraq and Syria.
How come Trump said Assad “crossed the line” at 100 deaths – but repeatedly tweeted President Obama NOT to strike – following 1,000 chemical deaths via Assad in 2013.
