I tried to listen to Josh, but that woman was so aggravating, I couldn’t get through….but I will admit thinking PBO is ‘gravely concerned’ has me wondering if we ought to all be scared shitless. Not that it helps. We are for sure #vigilant, trying to #not be afraid.

Yes, we all have to keep trying to continue to fight back on the “scared shitless” part, as we’ve done since November! No sense us all being too afraid to open our eyes, because if there’s even ONE thing we can do (individually or in a huge sea of people heading for the castle), we have to – as you said – stay vigilant so we don’t miss it.

      Hugs to you, MP!

❤️ {{{ JO’B }}} ❤️ No, we shall never relent, never back down.. Michelle and Barack Obama have taught us well, and we shall honour their dedication and devotion by taking on the full mantle and seeing this through to the end. As much as we may wish it was already behind us, the reality is it will take as long as necessary to expose the deepest levels of corruption, to round up every single perpetrator and bring them to justice. So this can never happen again. They know who they are, and many of them still think they have cover, and will get away with it. They will not. They knew better and willfully chose to abuse and decimate a system which is meant to be for all. May they pay a heavy price for their brutality and greed. Their souls have no value left, sold long ago to the highest bidder.

        • April 1, 2017 at 12:03 am

Josh Earnest reported that PBO was “genuinely concerned”.
Per MSNBC: “”[He’s] viewing it from a distance, where he’s writing a book, but I think that he’s genuinely concerned.”

As a black woman, being “scared shitless” was when I was 16 and couldn’t find my father because he had been beaten by white police officers and we weren’t notified until we searched the hospitals and found him. Being “scared shitless” is wondering if my black son or other family member is gonna be shot to death by a rouge white police officer. This criminal in the WH makes me angry, but not “scared shitless”.

Co-signing. Everyday Black people, no matter where we live or how we live, we are prey. We live with injustice everyday and know that we can not depend on our so-called rights to keep us safe. While I am angry and concerned about what is going on with Putin’s puppet and the wrecking crew he has installed in the White House, even if /when they are gone, life will be the same for A-A citizens.

So striking that, as “one woman,” she did what she felt she had to do and engaged others to assist so very many souls, in the process ~ having a profound effect on our country’s history and its people.

Little did she know we’d still be honoring her in the 21st Century!

Checking on a little history of where my mother grew up – small town in western Pennsylvania, my grandfather was a coal miner – I just found out yesterday that the Underground Railroad coursed through her town, which is still marked there today. It was 2 decades before my great grandparents came across from Germany in the mid-1880s and settled in that general area. My mother left there in 1939 when she was still a teenager, and didn’t talk much about the area since most of her life was spent elsewhere, so I’m glad I found this out.

I like George Takei, I grew up watching Star Trek and I’ve enjoyed watching him on the Howard Stern show over the years. But I’m tired of celebrities taking my vote as some sort of joke, I’m sure George Takei is a wonderful person and he probably never stole a freight train but this is real life with real consequences. Enough already with these celebrities looking for one last shot at glory. It’s one thing to walk the red carpet at a movie premier, but it’s quite another thing when you’re up all night trying to comb through a state’s cash-strapped budget trying to find a few dollars to keep an afterschool program open. It’s one thing to go on twitter and make pithy jokes about Trump, and it’s quite another thing trying to corral votes to keep another Antonin Scalia off the Supreme Court. We don’t need another show pony, we need a work horse.

    • April 1, 2017 at 10:15 am

I agree with you 10000000000%. It’s also the same reason I can’t watch late night comics. It’s not that I don’t have a sense of humor, it’s just that I don’t think anything about Trump and what’s happening to our country right now is funny. I appreciate a good joke and can tolerate a certain amount of it but real people are suffering and it’s only going to get worse.

      April 1, 2017 at 11:33 am

I think George Takei’s interest in politics is serious and I will support him. You don’t have to be in the legal field to run for office and he has run for local office before, so I do believe he is not doing this for continued attention.

How the hell do you have a signing ceremony and not sign whatever it was that you were supposed to sign? This is the second time I saw fear in Trump’s eyes, the first was when he was in the oval office with President Obama and he didn’t have the courage to look President Obama in the eye, man to man.

      • April 1, 2017 at 3:51 pm

I think that ll depends on how many Trump takes down with him. I believe Pence is also entangled. And Paul Ryan is next in line. So I do think there will be a great deal of uncertainty, markets will roil, the fights will be huge and there will be a period of instability, especially given that Trump is expanding our nation’s engagement in wars. Republicans have Congress and will soon claim the Supreme Court. Who knows what’s ahead?

        • 122 GGail

I understand the concern, but, uncertainty is not out of our control, if we (Dems) continue to fight – especially in 2018 and keep hysteria at bay. Statements like “unimaginable chaos” causes the faint at heart to hide their heads in the sand and not FIGHT. I’ve seen lately that it doesn’t take much for people to get skittish.

meta, now I’m confused. I just looked up Becerra and this is what I found. Rep Xavier Becerra became CA AG in Jan. 2017. His House seat is open. Do you know who’s running? Thanks!

        115th Congress, 1st Session
        « Back

Office of the Thirty-Fourth Congressional District of California
Formerly the Office of Representative Xavier Becerra

The Washington, D.C., office and the district office of former Representative Xavier Becerra will continue to serve the people of the Thirty-Fourth Congressional District of California under the supervision of the Clerk of the House of Representatives. Representative Becerra resigned from Congress on January 24, 2017.

        See Press Release

        The Interim Vacant Office Status:
By federal law and the Rules of the House of Representatives, the employees of the former Representative continue to staff the offices of the congressional district under the supervision of the Clerk of the House of Representatives. This interim vacant status continues until a new Representative is elected to fill the unexpired term. Currently, the congressional district does not have voting representation. Although the scope of the vacant congressional office is limited, constituents of the district are invited to contact this interim office for information and assistance as indicated below.

        Legislative Information:
Until a new Representative is elected, the vacant congressional office cannot take or advocate positions of public policy. Constituents may choose to express opinions on legislation or issues to your elected Senators or wait until a new Representative is elected and takes office. Mail received by the vacant office will be acknowledged. The staff of the vacant office can assist constituents with general information concerning the status of legislation, but cannot provide analysis of issues or render opinions.

Assistance with Federal Government Agencies (Casework):
The staff of the vacant office will continue to assist constituents who have cases pending with the office. These constituents will receive a letter from the Clerk requesting whether the staff should continue assistance or not. Constituents who do not have pending cases but require assistance in matters relating to federal government agencies are invited to contact the nearest district office for further information and assistance.
