That’s my congressman after a recent redistricting they did in CA-Karen Bass used to be my congresswoman. I was initially underwhelmed as he was rather low key, milquetoastish. And then Tang Tyrant came on the scene and BOOM!. He has has really, really stepped up. I call his office quite a bit now to say thanks for fighting the good fight.

When President Obama was fighting for his health care law he told members of congress how important this was for the people of America, how too many could not afford to visit a doctor, could not afford basic health care & going to hospital was not an option or the road to bankruptcy.

Today, he who would be King, told members of congress they would be voted out if they didn’t vote for “his” healthcare bill. From the President down, GOPers are all about self.

It’s almost as if six years ago President Obama devised a piece of legislation so complex that the Republicans are falling all over themselves trying to figure out a way to dismantle it. And if they are do dismantle it, it will lead to their downfall. And if they can’t dismantle it, it will lead to their downfall.

I found Norah O’Donnell annoying in this clip. Does she always sound combative and sour? PBO and his admin. are gone and not subject to being kicked around, especially considering what we have now. How/why would any of them think that someone who is not part of the First Clown’s circle would know why he says what he says and does what he does? All of them also need to step back from trying to get Obama people, none of whom are fools who speak without thinking would fall for these type of questions. Gayle got to the reasons that he was there, but Icould see that Norah was cut off from saying anything else.

norah is only like that to democrats. long history of this. she was insufferable when she would question obama admin people in the press room. conversely, she laughs along with and simply accepts anything a republican says, no matter how clearly wrong or nonsensical it is.

That book was rather scary wasn’t it? Even more unsettling to see parallels from someone’s imagination seemingly playing out in real life here almost daily. On a lighter note, welcome back from your travels. I had a chance to go to Portugal several years ago and hope to go back. I fell in love with the country and the people, the fresh food and the wine!!! 😆 Marveled at the efficiencies of their high speed train/public transportation systems that could take you from Lisbon south to the beautiful beaches in Faro/Algarve in a short time. Then hop, skip comfortable bus ride over to Seville; also beautiful. Definitely need to go back. Hope things are well with you! 🙂

Senators — and all Americans — should expect our Supreme Court Justices to meet four basic standards. If President Trump’s nominee fails to meet any of these standards, he or she should not be confirmed.
Are they highly qualified, do they meet the high ethical standards demanded by the position, and do they have the temperament to serve on our nation’s highest Court?

Are their views within the mainstream of constitutional law, American legal traditions, and jurisprudence?

Do they believe that the Constitution protects the rights and freedoms of all Americans, not just the wealthy and the powerful?

Will they approach every case with an open mind and commitment to fairness, and not make decisions based on a political agenda?

Having been gone for so long, I’ve had a lot of personal/home/church things pulling at me this week and not done yet so I haven’t done my post I promised. Will try to get to it today. Also, haven’t bought any dolls. That’s on my ‘list.’

I’m always excited to see hail (but ours are pebble-sized and melt immediately), but it’s been over 20 years since I’ve seen it in my neck of the woods. (I did get excited a few weeks ago when I left a store and saw white flecks on my car on a rainy day, but they turned out to be blossom leaves from a nearby tree, LOL).

Unspeakable Realities Block Universal Health Coverage In America
    Chris Ladd , CONTRIBUTOR
    A recovering Republican.

By funding government programs with tax credits and deductions rather than spending, we have created an enormous social safety net that grows ever more generous as household incomes rise. It is important to note, though, that you need not be wealthy to participate. All you need to gain access to socialism for white people is a good corporate or government job. That fact helps explain how this welfare system took shape sixty years ago, why it was originally (and still overwhelmingly) white, and why white Rust Belt voters showed far more enthusiasm for Donald Trump than for Bernie Sanders. White voters are not interested in democratic socialism. They want to restore their access to a more generous and dignified program of white socialism.

  52. March 22, 2017 at 9:36 am

When we speak about the origins of Social Security, and how FDR got it passed by going along with the Southerners, which led to the EXCLUSION of certain professions – professions that Black people just ‘happened’ to be overemployed in, which led to those workers being EXCLUDED from contributing to Social Security – FOR DECADES, which lowered their checks when they came of age. WE look at it with scorn. #WhiteSocialism looks at that and sees nothing wrong.

Deutsche Bank, the German bank that loaned $300 million to Donald Trump, was part of a global money laundering scheme (dubbed “the Global Laundromat”) led by Russian criminals, the Guardian reports.

Deutsche Bank’s connection to criminal money from Russia is further complicated by news that the German bank loaned about $300 million to Trump. A secret internal internal review by the bank looked at potential connections between multiple loans made to the president and those close to him with financial ties to the bank—including Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and Kushner’s mother, Seryl Stadtmauer.

True but I hope Democrats do not rely on Comey’s testimony too heavily. The findings of FBI alone will not get folks to the polls. Activism that reminds Dem voters what the party will do for them I think will win the day this time around.

As for folks who voted for Trump some of them will become disillusioned. What they will do with that disillusionment is anyone’s guess; but if getting their vote mean we have to appeal to the village idiots, the greedy, or those who are using Trump’s presidency and the Republican platform as their way of making their hatred mainstream, than we can do without their vote.
