LOLz! Who knows? Whatever befalls Tillerson, he brought it all on himself.

        • March 9, 2017 at 4:36 pm

“Whatever befalls Tillerson, he brought it all on himself.”

I agree with that, meta. His ties to Russia, Big Corporate, etc., not to mention his lack of experience was and still is a problem for me.

Having said that, he *did* go through the confirmation process. Jared Kushner, who except for the formal title is basically the de facto SoS, did not. 45 avoided the nepotism restriction by putting him in an “advisory” position that did not require that he go through the confirmation process. The conflicts of interest. The ties that he and his wife have with Russia. That 45 will take his counsel to the exclusion of those who are experienced and knowledgeable…THAT is *another* problem I have.

And I agree with NCLB that the whole administration should be removed and replaced. At least 3 cabinet members should probably be in jail for perjury.

      About the Trump campaign:
National security policy representative at the Republican convention, J,D. Gordon admitted helping to:
“push for the platform change (on Ukraine in order to make it pro-Russian) that “Donald Trump himself wanted and advocated for.” (Benen)
Trump lied about the platform change in September to ABC’s Stephanopoulos:
“I wasn’t involved in that,” “Honestly, I was not involved.” “Yeah. I was not involved in that.”
Last year Trump illegally solicited foreign donations.
This year Trump is holding the U.S.A. hostage to a hostile foreign nation.

It seems that most of the things that we expect presidents to do are a matter of custom and tradition. 45, who has built a life and a career on finding loopholes and exploiting them, is showing us everyday what can happen when the president chooses to ignore such precedents. We need to have laws that clearly spell out, with consequences, what the president can and cannot do. Experience, level of education, prior public engagement, financial disclosure, transparency, and more. Ethical people are the only ones who care about ethics, so there must be real-world, judicial consequences for all in high offices, especially the presidency, for those who break or try to get around established law. There should also be other laws and means rather than a laborious political process or drawn out judicial process to remove a president, cabinet members, congress people, and supreme court justices. Our current situation is a “real and present danger” to the welfare of the citizens (even those who are too busy or stupid to realize it) of this country and much of the world. We have appointees who know very little about the departments that they are supposed to lead and who want to destroy them. There are others who are in position clearly for their economic gain and for that of fellow 1 and 0.1 percenters and there are still others who want to force their narrow religious views on the rest of us; and then there are the virulent racists and woman haters who feel that the white male is losing ground and wants to make sure that we are all in what they deem our place. This country is too large and has too much global influence to be run by ignorant, selfish, and vicious little men and their cheerleading do-girls. Finally, I hate a coward more than I hate a thief or a liar. I coward sees what is going on, understands, and knows what to do, but refuses to act. The coward refuses to act vainly thinking that he will be saved, that if he shelters in place it will all blow over, and he can continue living as he had before the storms came. History tells us this is not so. The republicans in congress, state houses, and among the monied elite who made their devil’s bargain will not escape Karma’s retribution.

Washington state will ask a federal judge to block President Donald Trump’s new travel ban, joining Hawaii as the second state to challenge the ban.

The state’s attorney general, Bob Ferguson, says that despite the significant changes to the President’s previous executive order, the new travel ban still suffers from legal flaws.

Trump on Monday signed a new executive order banning foreign nationals from six Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for 90 days and banning all refugees for 120 days. The order excluded green card holders and those with existing valid visas.

A federal judge in Hawaii has agreed to hear a separate legal challenge on March 15 — just hours before the ban is to go into effect.

Add veterans groups to others who are not getting what they expected from 45. They voted for him 2-1 over Hillary and he has neither returned their calls nor met with them. According to an article at the Daily Beast, when representatives of various veterans groups were visiting the White House, Omarosa was sent to meet them much to their shock and dismay. While there was no planned meeting with 45, he was in the building while they were there and not only did he not meet with them, he did not even bother to greet them in passing. Omarosa? Really? Well, chose not to vote for a woman who in her work as SOS in an administration that put the military and their families first. to vote for a huckster who cares only for his bottom line. Buyers remorse is coming in fast and quick.

Now that various White House staffers are writing books and doing interviews, we can find out even more about how special and ground-breaking were the Obama White House years. Laura Dowling, the White House Florist who was hired in 2009, has written a book called Floral Diplomacy at the White House, that gives behind the scenes stories and details about how her office was used to highlight policy initiatives and to welcome guests. HuffPuff has excerpts of an interview that she did with Architectural Digest.

PS When my niece comes to visit, I will have her teach me how to link articles, etc. I am a visual learner when it comes to technology.

This information is from our Linda, aka WhatisWorking. Please let Linda know if you want to make calls from home. If you live in the area, please plan to attend. 😀

    Hello Fabulous Phone Bankers

Darrell Issa just emailed his constituents that he plans to have town a hall this coming Saturday March 11th in Oceanside, in fact he is so concerned about hearing from them he is having 2 sessions one at 8:30 and another at 10AM. I wonder why he decided to do that? Could it be in response to the massive turn out for the town hall of Feb 21st and then the equally impressive rally outside his office 2 days ago? Maybe.

So…. who wants to help us call into his area and make sure the place is packed with supporters of the ACA.

This will be done by folks calling from home. We can send you a PDF file with the names, and a script. We won’t be gathering data, just make the calls, and leave a message if they are not home.

One exception, if you talk to someone who you think could be a volunteer for the local OFA make a note of their contact info and send it to Linda.

You can make calls until Friday evening at 8PM

      GA GGail.

Thanks for bringing us the info from WIW.

Since you’re in email contact with her (or if she lurks and sees this), unless she’s moved, I think @Kahsai lives in the Oceanside/Temecula area (if she’s in Temecula, she’s not in Issa’s district). Here’s what she tweeted on President’s Day:

Nath (who posts late at night Pacific time, and whose WP handle escapes me — something like Nathun7, wish I could remember now) also lives in the surrounding area.

And @mom2bzs lives in Orange County, but not in Issa’s district.

As a reminder, this was posted here yesterday:

Here’s another tweet from @MikeLevinCA (see his Twitter timeline for more…):

The DOJ was independent and professional until 1/20/17.
