    Once again my stomach is in knots, which seems to be my usual routine since Jan 20.

    I go to bed seeing unsettling tweets (posted late at night Eastern time), then wake up to whatever the turmoil of the day is in the morning.

    Tonight it’s North Korea and ACA.

      I’m with you Arapaho. Keep wondering how long this is going to continue and how much we can take. I’m finding myself keeping the tv off more and more, and haven’t made it to facebook for days. I’m just skimming twitter and not even reading the newspapers which is a first for me. Decided last week I needed a break (again!) so tackled some crochet projects for my new baby granddaughter who is expected in the next 7-10 days. I don’t find any of this amusing, and can’t take snl anymore either. It is heartbreaking what he is doing to this country. I don’t see where and how this ends, but have little doubt there will be war in our future. The more cornered dt feels, the more dangerous he will become. It is simply terrifying, and I am in much better shape than so many in our country. I weep for all these families and kids.

    Members also are bothered. They can’t get into Trump’s club on Saturday nights anymore without booking dinner reservations weeks in advance, and that’s becoming more of a challenge as the commander in chief keeps coming down from Washington and people keep pouring in to see him.

    His charges had reason to believe that with a pragmatic corporate titan in command, the department would reassert its primacy over American foreign policy—and ease global anxieties about the new president’s nativism, naiveté, and flirtations with noxious strongmen.

    It hasn’t happened. Far from curbing Trump’s excesses, Tillerson has been blindsided by them:

    • a travel ban that alienated much of the Muslim world and originally barred the entry of Iraqis who’d fought alongside U.S. troops;

    • a crackdown on immigrants that’s poisoned relations with America’s third-largest trading partner, Mexico;

    • Trump’s suggestion that the U.S. could live with a permanent Israeli occupation of the West Bank, so long as everyone else is cool with it.

    • Tillerson was absent from White House meetings with the leaders of Canada, Japan, and Israel.

    • His pick for deputy secretary, Elliott Abrams, was rejected after Trump learned Abrams had criticized him during the 2016 campaign.

    • Of the 44 highest-ranking positions at the State Department, the Trump administration has filled one: Tillerson’s.

    • Even as Tillerson and John Kelly, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, arrived in Mexico City on a goodwill mission on Feb. 23, Trump went out of his way to undercut them. “We’re going to have a good relationship with Mexico,” he told reporters in the White House, “and if we don’t, we don’t.”

    One Facebook user has pretty much shut down the Trumpsters who keep saying stupid things like “We suffered through Obama, so suck it up and suffer through Trump.” There just seems to be this tone from Republicans that things were so terrible the last 8 years under President Obama…now it liberals’ turn to suffer. When you hear someone say something like this, this is how you respond:

    A friend posted this — I repost because the list of accomplishments compiled is so thorough:
    A Trump supporting Facebook friend told Scott Mednick, “We suffered for eight years. Now it’s your turn.”
    Scott wrote a brilliant response asking how exactly his friend had suffered under Obama:

    “I am surprised you would wish suffering upon me. That of course is your right, I suppose. I do not wish harm on anyone. Your statement seems to continue the ‘US v THEM’ mentality. The election is over. It is important to get past campaigning and campaign rhetoric and get down to what is uniting, not dividing and what is best for ALL Americans.

    • March 6, 2017 at 10:39 am

      My response to anyone who say they suffer through eight years under President Obama, now it’s liberals turn to suffer through Trump. First of all don’t dare compare President Obama to Donald Trump. Trump is a bold face liar, and he seem to have some mental issues, and he don’t know what he is doing and he don’t care to know. Second of all if you suffer it was because you couldn’t stand the fact that a black man was President of these United States.

    anyone with even a little level of understanding on politics can see that the homegrown demagogue’s administration is in trouble and that there is a possibility that its foundation will be fundamentally shaken;

    as result, we see hesitancy in some of the people who wanted and plotted to ride 45’s train in order to fulfil their greedy, corrupt racist misogynistic xenophobic agenda.

    so some of those people on the 45-inside who see the iceberg approaching are trying to get sympathetic stories written about them or expressed on TV.

    the goal of these stories is to make them appear victims if the whole corrupt administration falls ….. but in the mean time they are enjoying the stealing of resources and deregulation.

    if these people can get part of their agenda enacted while at the same time claiming to be victims, then they will quietly fade into the background without being criminally charged and then they will use the shadows to wait for the next opportunity to defraud the people;

    remember all those republicans who were involved in prior scandals, …..pled innocence, …..were not criminally charged, ….. retreated to the think-tanks and media and waited their next turn …..and are now back again => recycling of corrupt scumbags;

    I am keeping a side eye on some of these opportunists and I will not promote stories in which they are made to appear sympathetic … because we all knew what the homegrown demagogue was about from the start …. no pretense that anything he is doing is new or unexpected.

    thanks for reading to the end of this rant.

    Good Saturday to you all

    I wanted to ask for your help. While we all chase the Russia Story, Republicans are planning on repealing the ACA without a budget score, and without showing it to anyone until it is on the floor.

    Get on the phone and leave a message with their local office today and EVERDAY until we win this thing.

    Tell them – NO SECRET BILL, let us publicly debate what it will cost in $$ and in human suffering.

    Show up at their local offices, be brave and be strong.

    Then call 10 people you know and ask them to do the same thing

    Join a Virtual bank from home (where you use a tablet or computer to access names, phone # and a script) and call into TN, AZ, Maine, NV or AK.

    Send me a note if you need links to make these calls. Everyone needs to do this

    Here is our latest update on the Republican plan

    There will be a bill released on Monday that will then go to markup in both Ways and Means and E&C on Wednesday/Thursday. It will more or less be what we saw in the earlier draft, with a few modifications for the worse. It will not be scored and there will probably not be amendments.

    Presuming passage, it will go to the Budget Committee the following week and then to Rules on 3/20 or earlier–with the goal to have it to the Floor of the House on 3/23, which is the 7th anniversary of the passage of the ACA.

    McConnell has committed to put the bill on the floor immediately, with no changes, following a Bryd bath, meaning it will be voted on before the Easter recess (4/7).

    This is far more accelerated timeline than any of us were thinking, and we were assuming we would have process in the Senate (meaning it would go through Senate Committees however that is not the plan). We need to get as much done in the next 2 1/2 weeks as possible.

    Thank you in advance for your help with this issue,

    POST HERE if you make a call or ask a friend to make a call.

    I have called my congressman LoBiondo (R) from south Jersey, written e-mails and called again today. Saturday a group of us from Indivisible met with him and expressed our concerns, He is on record stating he will not vote to repeal ACA unless they come up with something better. We shall see. BTW he refuses to have town hall meetings, preferring to meet with small groups or make phone calls. He is not a tea party type but I don’t trust him to be independent either.

    Republicans in congress better hurry up and grow a pair and go against this corrupt administration. Their names will be clearly listed as collaborators, enablers and cowards on the pages of history, when we get through this and put in safeguards so that it will never happen again. The wealthy corporate heads, the evangelicals, the racists and the misogynists, made a Faustian bargain to get their narrow, greedy, self-serving and hateful policies in place. These things never work out for such people in the long run.

      “Worked even longer, even harder for less”. Even harder for less implied that slaves were paid, slaves weren’t paid. Unless he’s talking about those slaves that lived in their master’s house, up in the attic or down in the basement. Even then those slaves weren’t paid, they may have gotten extra food, or were spared a lashing if they messed up or something, but they were not paid. Usually it is someone that isn’t African American that tries to downplay the severity of slavery or try to make it seem less brutal that it actually was. But it is rare that an African American tries to downplay his own brutal history.
