    Morning TOD!

Good Sunday morning, cd4biden! Congrats to you. It’s a balmy 10F in my Ontario neighbourhood, but the sun is shining for the second day in a row, and that makes such a difference! 😊

Good but hopefully they’ll simply vote him out the first chance they get. Republicans have made it clear how they feel about the ACA so anyone who votes for them knows what they’ll get.

    • March 5, 2017 at 6:24 pm

Of course Sessions has stayed silent. He was summoned to Mar-a-Lago. Of course 45 is not letting say *anything* — verbally or in writing.
He’s already done enough damage to the cover-up.

Wonder if he’ll still be recusing himself and offering up a written fix to his Senate testimony, by Monday. Or maybe he’ll just stay at Mar-a-Lago, for the rest of Trump’s term. Ugh.

        • March 5, 2017 at 7:01 pm

There are too many questions and [Dem} senators are not buying his explanation. Whatever he says does not change the fact that he lied…and in my opinion, it was intentional.

Franken dismissed the defenses that Sessions has offered thus far, saying:

‘He said at his press conference that if he’d just thought about it for a moment and if he’d taken his time then he would have said that he met twice with the Russian Ambassador. He had seven weeks to say that; he was testifying under oath to the American people, and he said something that just wasn’t true.’

The “seven weeks” comment refers to the amount of time that Sessions had to present written answers to Senate questions.

Off topic, but I can’t help but notice how the WH photographer frames 45 in these AF1 planes now– big difference from the beauty of PBO’s photos boarding his plane.

Two responses re: pictures of DT: #1. The subject of the pictures is ugly, and always looks rumpled. 2: The photographer obviously is not talented. I doubt that even T’s “loyal” followers will want a coffee table book of his pictures.

        Aloha, Susanne.

Saw conflicting tweets as to whether DJT has an official photographer. Around inauguration day saw some that said someone (a woman, don’t remember her name) had the job, but a couple of weeks ago saw other tweets that said there wasn’t an official photog, so don’t know which is true.

However, I did see some tweets awhile ago (can’t remember how long ago, everyday there’s multiple new outrages) that said PBO’s staff loved him, genuinely admired him and loved working for him — contrasting with the multiple leaks spewing forth from DJT’s WH.

Can’t imagine working for him — he’s got all the worst qualities of every horrible boss I’ve worked for (functionally illiterate, unpredictable rages, blames his subordinates, etc.) rolled into one mess, a true monster.

Looking forward to when every member of his awful family gets what’s coming to them (I’ll grant exceptions for Bannon and Tiffany — a minor shouldn’t get blamed for the awfulness of his family, and Tiffany isn’t trying to rule the world).

Goon thinks he doesn’t need staff – and it shows in the disaster of the past 5 weeks. Can also imagine that there are few with the appropriate skills who would want to work for him.

I’m shedding a few tears about the WH kitchen garden at the minute – I can see the weeds running wild.

Thanks for sticking with TODville, all of whom are suffering from this ‘creature from another planet’ horror now.

Saw a tweet a couple of weeks ago that said Melania is keeping WH garden — but of course with this whiplash WH, things reverse course within minutes. She doesn’t have a personal grudge against Michelle like her husband does with PBO, so I’m hoping she’ll seed the garden soon (good photo op opportunity if she brings local children in to help, and the disaster that is DJT needs as much good PR as possible to stave off the inevitable disgrace heading his way).

mmmm – Given how much time she spends in DC – I have my doubts. I gather the easter egg roll is in doubt & have the WH visits started? I see her as little different from her husband – she certainly agreed on the birtherism.

I miss the happiness of TOD under PBO & cannot understand what has happened to the US we used to read about. Racism seems to have returned with a vengeance – my dad used to say that was the only thing he didn’t like about the US troops in Australia during WWII – the color segregation during down hours.

  13. March 5, 2017 at 5:13 pm

I hope Trump realize that President Obama is citizen Obama now, and he does not have to put up with the B.S. he put up with doing the birther saga. He can fight back.

      Thanks for this, SWBG.

Here’s another special election, this time to fill newly confirmed Ryan Zinke as Interior Secretary (ugh, but I say that about all of DJT’s Cabinet nominees — the ones lining their pockets as this nation becomes less healthy, more impoverished and more polluted).

Wonder what MTMarilyn has to say? This guy’s a Berniebot — too bad Denise Juneau (5th generation [!] Montanan) didn’t get the nod:

      From the article:
“Mr. [Rob] Quist is a musician perhaps best known for founding the Mission Mountain Wood band. A Sanders supporter in 2016, he is running on a progressive platform, and will be banking on anti-Trump energy to gain a Congressional seat for the Democrats.”

        March 5, 2017 at 8:48 pm

Thanks Arapahoe415, I was on my way here to post this. I was just reading my email from the MT Democrats. I really don’t know much about Rob Quist politically, but I know lots about his music carreer. There is a great pbs documentary about the Mission Mountain Wood Band, bluegrass and country rock band. It’s very Montana. Don’t know about him being a Bernie guy but there are many here.

The Republicans chose their candidate Monday night. Think it might be Gianforte who ran against Governer Bullock and lost. That’s why Montana is unique. Trump won big but they voted for a Democrat Governor.

I think we have a real chance of winning.

        • 41 arapaho415
          March 5, 2017 at 9:38 pm

          GE MTM.

Agree with you — Montanans are an independent sort, but think they don’t suffer fools gladly, and it’s clear to anyone not part of the 24% of Americans who believe the sun revolves around the earth that DJT is a buffoon of epic proportions.

I’m never sure about the “pro-Sanders” labels. I think they’re a way for the Dem candidate to gain media’s attention — I followed Doug Applegate’s tweets during his unsuccessful run against Darrell Issa in November, and he claimed to be a “Sanders supporter” but his positions seemed to me to be standard Dem.

We need as big and strong resistance against DJT as possible, and as long as a “Sanders supporting Dem” doesn’t undermine Dem votes in Congress, we should welcome them with open arms.

Thanks for the info on Rob Quist — grew up with Country music, love the classic performers (Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, etc., but really don’t like “pop-country” where the female singers dress as though they’re Daisy Duke or a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and the male singers don’t have much to offer except for how they love to party and drive their pickup trucks).

Did you see this (from your neck of the woods):

We have 2 huge EPA sites in MT, Libby and Butte. I have several friends who have died or have the Libby disease, their lung are full of asbestos. It horrible have. But these people still vote Republican.

I encourage you to watch the documentary. These guys could have made it big but for a plane crash that killed several in the band. I remember it well. Most of the big concerts in MT we attended.

I think now that folks are finding out what it’s going to be like in a Republican world they may be changing their way of thinking. We can hope.

Thanks for tip on the PBS documentary. Will look it up.

Will be rooting for Quist. How tragic that his band was involved in a plane crash. 😦

The music world has been rocked by so many tragic plane crashes. Remember dotster3 (who hasn’t posted here in years), but I remember her saying that she was at the Iowa concert venue for Buddy Holly on the night his plane went down. 😦

How does one defend the indefensible? Although they’ve been doing it since Dt started running.

      • March 5, 2017 at 6:27 pm

Which is crazy. People who are supposed to be intelligent have made themselves look silly jumping through hoops trying to explain or defend the crazy.

I guess the money they’re making allows them to look themselves in the mirror and still respect what they see.

Demand for travel to the United States over the coming months has flattened out following a positive start to the year, with uncertainty over a possible new travel order likely deterring visitors, travel analysis company ForwardKeys said on Monday.

ForwardKeys, which analyses 16 million flight reservations a day from major global reservation systems, also said that travel from the United States to and from the Middle East has been especially hard hit after President Donald Trump’s move to ban people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

“Uncertainty reigns and the presidential rhetoric appears to be deterring visitors to the U.S.,” ForwardKeys founder Olivier Jager said in a statement.
