It’s a Big world out there. And people have the right to spend their money where they want to. They aren’t forced to spend it in the USA.

The Travel Press is Reporting the ‘Trump Slump,’ a Devastating Drop in Tourism to the United States
Experts across the travel industry are warning that masses of tourists are being scared away from visiting the United States, and the loss of tourism jobs could be devastating.

    By Arthur Frommer

Though they may differ as to the wisdom of the move, the travel press and most travel experts are of one mind: They are currently drawing attention to an unintended consequence of the Trump-led efforts to stop many Muslims from coming to the U.S., pointing to a sharp drop in foreign tourism to our nation that imperils jobs and touristic income.

It’s known as the “Trump Slump.” And I know of no reputable travel publication to deny it.

The way the ACA was put together, there’s not much the GOP could do without causing major damage. Based on the town halls, the fall out to individuals would be horrific.

If Boehner really believes this than that means he wasted all those years and tax payer money pursuing a repeal that he know would never happen and a replace that they had no idea how to develop. They did all that to try and make Obama a one term president and when that didn’t work they wanted to try a negate his presidency.

      • 25 pkayden
        February 23, 2017 at 3:28 pm

Boehner really should just sit down and shut up. He has nothing to say of any import. We can see with our own two eyes that Republicans have no intention of replacing the ACA with anything useful. If anything, they would simply kill the ACA and not replace it with anything because they could give two sticks about whether their fellow Americans have access to healthcare.

I will wait and see, the republicans seem to always have ways of pushing their plans through, especially the unpopular ones which they quietly slip into a completely different policy and get their way without appearing to do so. Boehner could be the decoy. 🙂

Same with “So-called” Christians. Someone asked me if I were a Christian I told them, NO. I told them I believe in God, that Jesus died for mans sins and I believe in the Bible to a point. I do not believe that Jesus would hate gays or people who were not “Christians” as they do today. They left me alone 🙂 🙂

well this is what I’ve been waiting for and hoping for. Also one of my issues is are they showing these raids/ arrests by ICE of immigrants across the country? Are they being seen by folks on tv? I remember as a kid one of the things that set people against the Viet Nam war & in support of civil rights was seeing it on the nightly news at dinner time each night. Folks were made to care. Since I do not watch national news.. whoever does- is it getting broadcast?

If this works anything like medical deductions, the people who need it the most won’t get it as they won’t meet the threshold. The childcare credits is more beneficial.

“The child care proposal is generous and broad; almost everyone with young children will get some benefit from it. However, the largest benefits will go to relatively affluent dual-income families using paid child care,” said Alan Cole, an economist with the Tax Foundation.

The cost of the plan is a problem for Republican congressional leaders, who are already struggling to win consensus in their party on revenue increases to offset trillions of dollars in proposed tax rate cuts. A tax overhaul that adds to the deficit would likely have to be temporary, to avoid a Democratic filibuster in the Senate.

Trump’s opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, decried the child care deduction as a boon to wealthier households with nannies and insufficient to help working families. [Sheila] Marcelo [founder of http://www.care.com, a website to find babysitters and other caregivers] echoed that concern, saying the plan in its current form doesn’t help families whose incomes are too low to pay taxes and thus don’t benefit from deductions.

From one of my favorite bloggers (religion and politics-a totally good guy) Fred Clark, aka Slacktivist

“American society is marked by the baffling phenomenon of the haves resenting the have-nots. This is such a common feature of American life that we almost get inured to how dazzlingly weird this is. The wealthy deride the poor as “takers.” The rich resent the poor. White folks indignantly resent people of color. Men resent women. The powerful resent the powerless. This is ass-backwards and utterly illogical.”

  71. February 23, 2017 at 7:33 pm

But will that stop the raids????

General John Kelly made clear in his remarks in Mexico that the president is wrong. Kelly told his audience, “There will be no use of military forces in immigration. There will be no – repeat, no – mass deportations.”

He continued, “Everything we do in [Department of Homeland Security] will be done legally and according to human rights and the legal justice system of the United States.”

America’s top diplomat and top U.S. counterterrorism official were in Mexico Thursday for what could only be described as an awkward visit.

First, there’s the issue of the wall that U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to build along the U.S.-Mexican border. And then those new rules, released Tuesday, that authorize U.S. federal agents to deport undocumented immigrants to Mexico, whether or not they are Mexican.

The incoming Mexican ambassador to the United States called the new policy “unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, Tillerson’s boss may have made things more difficult for his top diplomat. Trump criticized U.S.-Mexico relations while Tillerson was in Mexico, saying at a meeting with business leaders, “$70 billion in trade deficits and that doesn’t include the drugs that are flowing across the border.”

    • February 23, 2017 at 8:18 pm

On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer called the U.S.-Mexico relationship “phenomenal” in defending the tense atmosphere of the visit. Former Mexican president Vicente Fox disagreed.

Current Mexican government officials also had other thoughts. Videgaray said Wednesday that Mexico had no reason to accept unilateral decisions imposed by another country. “We are not going to accept that, because we don’t have to.”
