We once had a science geek as a president. That community proudly referred to him as the Commander-in-Science. I miss him and the time when being smart, talented and innovated were celebrated. Evil people prefer the masses to be ignorant so that they can be controlled. It is not an accident that teachers’ unions are always under attack. The more that people can reason and think for themselves, the less likely they are to put up with an authoritarian government.

Last September I took a trip to Canada. Went to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. So beautiful! When at lunch on PEI toward the end of the trip, the server told us that people had been coming there from the U.S. during the summer buying property in case DT was elected. That seemed so unlikely at the time……but now. Of course, as always, it is the wealthy who can escape and hide.

AG has opted not to prosecute Flynn for lying to the FBI. Outrageous!

McChrystal, Petraeus, Flynn… Generals who are being given little more than a slap on the wrist when an enlisted person, NCO, or lower ranking officer would be sitting in Leavenworth right now for a lessor crime. Their years of service shouldn’t have given them leniency as their rank should have held them to a higher standard.

Sessions’ refusal to investigate Flynn is another indication that he should recuse himself from anything associated with 45-Russia. Him being named AG is part of the cover up.

This is well worth your time to read, then pick up the phone and call your senators and representative and demand action.

“Our intelligence analysts cannot appeal to the public. They cannot reveal their sources. They have a job to do, but they have reason to believe they cannot trust their leaders. Intelligence officials have only one path forward now, and that path is through Congressional action.

If our leaders will not listen to those who give them indications and warnings of threats to our nation, then who will protect our country?

I trust our intelligence analysts. I trust the people who are putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

Congress, do your job. Investigate. Examine the evidence. The American people need to know how this story ends.”

we’ve seen this same movie with him and other “reasonable republicans” over and over. same schtick every time. they did all this toward end of shrub’s reign when his poll numbers got so low. it’s designed to separate republicans from the nutty leaders of their party. “the news” lets them get away with every single time, while literally making up scandals about democrats and talking about said make-believe incessantly so that the public repeats the real “fake news” as nauseum.

shep and the others like rick wilson are just making way for supposedly “reasonable repubs” to win in the midterms. evan mcmullin is one, but does anyone take the time to look at his history and his stances on issues?!? guy is standard issue nutty repub for years, yet all i see now online is how he’s going to usher some new bi-partisan future. as long as “the news” is owned by the current billionaire libertarians, we’ll barely see the people who are consistently correct all the time – basically democrats.

And yet they allow him to sit in the Oval Office, trying to figure out what the eff to do next. Californian Republican Delivers A Giant “F*ck You” To Indivisible, Calls Them “Enemies Of Democracy”

They’ve been politely asking for a town hall meeting for weeks and the pressure is getting to the cowardly congressman.

One of the big stories that followed the election of Barack Obama was the outrage of the newly formed Tea Party and the appearance of angry citizens at town hall meetings held by Democratic (and some Republican) members of Congress. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and it’s GOP congressmen and women who are the targets of voter anger. Some of them are not taking it well.

Dana Rohrabacher is a Republican who represents California’s 48th Congressional District, which stretches along the southern California coastline from Seal Beach to Dana Point. Rohrabacher won re-election to his seat in the November election despite the fact that his district voted for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. Now his constituents want to talk to him at a town hall, and he is refusing to meet with them.

On Valentine’s Day, a group of constituents went to Rohrabacher’s district office to delivery Valentines to him, asking that he please meet with them and other residents of his district. Think Progress says the group, representing “Indivisible Orange County” has been coming to the office every Tuesday to request a town hall meeting. This past Tuesday, however, things got a little ugly.

According to a statement issued by Indivisible Orange County, a 2-year-old girl named Lola was hit in the head as she attempted to slide a Valentine under the locked door of Rohrabacher’s office, when a staffer opened the door into her from the other side.

he staffer, Kathleen Staunton, also took a tumble in the incident when protesters grabbed the door to make sure it didn’t hit the child again. That left Rohrabacher angry, accusing the protesters of “political thuggery.”

“Deliberate or not, the incident came as part of a mob action that not only intimidates but coerces. Though the protesters think of themselves as idealists, they engaged in political thuggery, pure and simple,” Rohrabacher said.

“These people do not want, as they’ve claimed, to hold a town hall meeting with me. These are unruly activists on whom the lessons of civility and democratic participation have been lost. These holier-than-thou obstructionists will be held responsible for this outrageous assault. They are exposing themselves for what they are — enemies of American self-government and democracy.”

The members of Indivisible OC had a different take.

We are hardworking, taxpaying Americans who want to engage in our democracy and to simply be heard by our Congressional representative. It is a shame that Rep. Rohrabacher has refused repeated requests to hold a town hall meeting for his district and holds a particular contempt for engaged citizens by characterizing civic duty as “political thuggery.” For all we know, the only political thuggery we see is his Twitter behavior.

I said it before; the US will soon be a pariah state and all of the international laws and mores that were created, mostly with the US in the lead, to handle such states will be used against us and I do not have a problem with this. A large bully nation cannot be allowed to wreck havoc. The one good thing about this from an international standpoint is that other countries are looking to themselves and bordering nations to hold out against the monster that we have become. It is fortunate that the hate, the crazy, and the incompetence came out early enough that counter-measures here and abroad can be taken. When this is all over, we will need to make law the things that were custom in regard to the presidency and have consequences spelled out for those who do not follow them; we need to add to the requirements of the qualifications to be a president (having had to have held some public office at some point and to demonstrate and understanding of the Constitution), and the rules for when and how to remove a corrupt government and what should happen afterwards. While we are at it, there should be term limitations for members of congress and we need to get these huge sums of money out of politics, as well as modifying the entire election process. All stakeholders, approved by the people, must have a seat at the table in making these changes. Finally, we must face the injustices of the past and the present that have been visited upon citizens who are not white: recognition, reconciliation, and reparation (not the financial type necessarily).

i have not felt good about all this since the election…first there was all this talk about wooing white workers and bashing Identity politics… this term is always seen as negative when it applies to black voters..white folks always vote for white folks…no new thing….i have seen articles about how the DEMS are in disarray and that we need a savior to pull us out of the pit…i am offended by this…because as usual the DEM party always seem willing to throw blk voters under the bus…to disregard us…it was only the President that seem to elevate us to our rightful place…and now there seems to be a move to blame him for the racism that caused so called DEM voters to vote for 45….no mention of the 3rd party voters…the demonization of hillary by the press…putin…and all…

i will say this…i am not always sure if it really matters who is at the top of the DEM party..DNC…if there is no organizing going on at the grass roots level..

as you have said…it will be interesting to see who come out as chair when the dust clears
