    GA/GE TODville.

    Thank YOU, NerdyW. for posting @ObamaWhiteHouse reminders of the real changes for the good that happened with PBO and team.

    Sent this to Meta this afternoon, which is devastating news for our Native Americans — whose forebears were stripped of their land and belongings, rounded up to live in desolate places, and under the jurisdiction (and whim) of the BLM (Bureau of Land Management, obviously not Black Lives Matter).

    And this (don’t have time to read right now — even though it’s winter [and cold here — in the mid-30Fs this morning, high reached about 50F this afternoon), my plants are acting like it’s Springtime now, so must tend to them before darkness falls), this seems to raise more questions about DJT:

    • 23 jacquelineoboomer
      January 24, 2017 at 7:44 pm

      What would be monumental to see is the majesty and pride and righteousness of thousands of Native Americans, protesting in front of the White House. I’m sure many of us would fund that trip, if needed and if it were at all possible to do so.

      Each American today is in the same exact position under T-rump … and it won’t be long before we will have MORE to identify ourselves with our Native Americans.

      Thanks Bobfr for your forthright tweet! If 3 million people voted illegally on November 8, 2016, as Trump and Spicer claim, then the election was invalid. To remedy the situation we must do these three things immediately:

      1. Reject the results of this election and conduct a new election to be strictly monitored by non partisan independent groups and experts skilled in detecting fraud in voting.

      2. Reject Trump’s divisiveness by looking out for the marginalized people

      3. And, most importantly, the Federal Government should launch a thorough, non-partisan, investigation to indentify and prosecute the 3 million people who voted illegally in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election! The 3 million people who, accordin to Trump voted illegally, must be prosecuted and severely punished for undermining our democracy! It’s simply not enough to publicly allege that 3 million people voted illegally and then do nothing to punish the culprits!

    This so reminds me of President Obama (except for the “old man” part). Just popped in my head.

    The Bridge Builder

    An old man going a lone highway,
    Came, at the evening cold and gray,
    To a chasm vast and deep and wide.
    Through which was flowing a sullen tide
    The old man crossed in the twilight dim,
    The sullen stream had no fear for him;
    But he turned when safe on the other side
    And built a bridge to span the tide.

    “Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim near,
    “You are wasting your strength with building here;
    Your journey will end with the ending day,
    You never again will pass this way;
    You’ve crossed the chasm, deep and wide,
    Why build this bridge at evening tide?”

    The builder lifted his old gray head;
    “Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said,
    “There followed after me to-day
    A youth whose feet must pass this way.
    This chasm that has been as naught to me
    To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be;
    He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
    Good friend, I am building this bridge for him!”

    This is what happens and how it happens in the SANE country.

    Britain’s Supreme Court has ruled that the UK government must hold a vote in parliament before beginning the process of leaving the European Union.

    The decision is a complication for Prime Minister Theresa May, who wanted to trigger Article 50 — the legal mechanism that begins the process of leaving the EU — by the end of March. Doing so will open the door for EU negotiations, which are likely to last two years.

        Only certain people in the government can speak on behalf of their agencies – that’s determined by protocols in each department.

        This is the reason we have so few laws with the respect to the president on things like taxes and conflicts. There has always been a major constitutional concern about the separation of powers, and the power of the Congress to regulate the Executive branch. Historically, we’ve had well established norms that every president followed to assure voters but those are out the window. The constitutional scholars are going to have a field day over the next four years.

      Black people are tired of being used. We came all out in this election, dealing with voter suppression, to give Hillary 99% of our votes only to be betrayed by white voters of all educational and income levels. 66% of white men and 53 % of white women voted for DT, and others voted for 3rd party candidates. White people crated this problem and they need to be front and center to deal with it. We are trying topics with the results as we always do. A-A people still make up less than 13% of the total population. Our power is limited.

    President Donald Trump called on Wednesday for “a major investigation” into voter fraud, following through with baseless claims he has made since November’s election alleging millions of illegal votes during the general election without citing any evidence.

    “I will be asking for a major investigation into VOTER FRAUD, including those registered to vote in two states, those who are illegal and … even, those registered to vote who are dead (and many for a long time). Depending on results, we will strengthen up voting procedures!” Trump wrote in two consecutive tweets.
    Trump’s comments on voter fraud came Monday during a meeting with congressional leaders, where he reiterated an unsubstantiated claim that 3-5 million illegal votes cost him the popular vote, according to two sources familiar with the meeting.
    On Tuesday, Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer vigorously defended Trump’s statement about illegal voters, though neither Trump nor his surrogates could provide evidence that any substantial illegal voting had occurred or influence the popular vote.

    df, Quick note before I leave. Already late. I used most of your words (when you call your reps today). Just got through to all three and delivered that message. Corker–started to read back and did not use the words “dangerous delusional madman” so I stopped her and said I want word for word. She said “Trump” instead. Tried to play dumb……that she didn’t know who I was talking about with the dangerous delusional. I told her to not pay stupid with me. We continued–again–to go through my message. I did end with: TODAY is your Howard Baker shining moment. No problem at Duncan’s office. Took it and read back. Alexander: Hardest to get through to. Finally did. Told him I wanted it read back to me. He said, “With all due respect, we are getting calls back to back to back.” I said, “That’s your problem.” I didn’t insist he read it back to me, however. Just trust he got the main points down.
