Thank you for this space. I can’t say it enough. I am so stressed by the actions of the GOP under their new commandant that coming here is one of the few things that calms me. Somehow over the years we were together able to integrate the events as they unfolded and turned to each other for support and reassurance. Well now under the worst of circumstances it is very important that we can return here. Thanks, Nerdy and everyone.

Yes, they are! And PBO, VP Biden and their spouses deserve a medal for sitting through that abomination of an inaugural speech by the Village Idiot

Yes, they do! I must go look for any photos that may have cropped up of the “vacationing” Obamas and Bidens (although I hope they’ve avoided being photographed)! Never far from my heart, any of them.

    Flipping weirdos.

While Mike Pence was governor, his relationship with the Democratic minority in the legislature was crap. Someone on his staff suggested having the Democratic leaders over to the governor’s mansion for dinner. The table was set for 20, but there were only around seven in attendance. One unlucky legislator stuck next to Pence tried to make conversation, but found even at dinner she couldn’t shift Pence off his talking points. Gov. Pence shouted to his wife, Karen, his closest adviser, at the other end of the table.
“Mother, Mother, who prepared our meal this evening?”
The legislators looked at one another, speaking with their eyes: He just called his wife “Mother.”
Maybe it was a joke, the legislator reasoned. But a few minutes later, Pence shouted again.
“Mother, Mother, whose china are we eating on?”
Mother Pence went on a long discourse about where the china was from. A little later, the legislators stumbled out, wondering what was weirder: Pence’s inability to make conversation, or calling his wife “Mother” in the second decade of the 21st century.

Good evening TOD. I was trying to stay slightly calmer today given the last few weeks, and made it until late afternoon when I saw this photo. Here we go again, all of these MEN telling WOMEN what they can and cannot do with our bodies. It is so jarring to me, it has completely sent me over the top. Even my agility class with my dog tonight only took my mind off it while we were on the field and the minute I got back in the car it flashed through my mind. Despite thinking I appreciated PBO every single day of his presidency, I am going to have to rethink that. We would NEVER have PBO do something like this, much less photograph it and wave it in front of us. To me, it is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. BUT I have decided I am going to print out a bunch of copies and tape them all over my house to remind myself every single day why we have to march and keep fighting. I do NOT want to go back to this. I truly hate these people and their smugness. So pleased with themselves that they are putting women back in their place. Well fuck them!

And as I have lost all thought of “political correctness” I would say they are 7 of the ugliest men I have ever had the misfortune to see. May they rot in hell for what they have done and continue to do to women all over the world.

Oh, but we can certainly visualize it– the surrounding ladies smiling, holding each other’s shoulders and hands, the woman president with her serviceable bic pen, dug from the bottom of her purse, the law stating: … oh, well, you have your own list for this. 🙂

So only now the aholes in the media have discovered what they have lost. Why does someone have to be out of power to be appreciated. The US media is to blame for 80% of the disasters that befall our world. They are worse than the Russian/Chinese/NK media because people tend to believe what they say. Liars – one and all.

And there is one more thing I am furious about. Like many here, I did not watch the inauguration on Friday, just could not stomach it. But a friend pointed out to me yesterday just how disrespectful the new VP was to PBO and FLOTUS. I went back and watched the tape, and it was appalling. He was announced, started down the aisle, shooks hand with a bunch of people along the way, got to the end and completely IGNORED PBO and FLOTUS who were standing there clapping for him. At that time, PBO was still the SITTING president of the United States and Pence ignored them. These people are so utterly lacking in grace and basic manners it is mind boggling. Some have justified it saying he shook his hand after the ceremony. NOT good enough for me. It was such a slap in the face. I do not know how we are going to survive this.

    • January 23, 2017 at 11:42 pm

Like many of these right wing conservatives they claim to be christians, but they don’t act like it. Pence claim to be a christian, but a true man of God would not behave like that. I didn’t watch that mess either but someone I know did and they told me what Pence did. They are nasty mean racists people.

    • January 24, 2017 at 11:24 am

How do you win the moral high ground against folks who have no morals…this is what PBO had to figure out…this is what REV Barber speaks of re: regaining the moral space…it is immoral to deny the humanity of people….

but this is difficult to achieve without TRUTHandRECONCILIATION…

for some folks racism is part of their belief system…their view of the world….that is why we keep having to fight these same battles over and over again…

I probably don’t have to worry about my health care but we are quite petrified as to what Trump may want to do in the Pacific & the thought that he will drag as along. He is already talking about increasing the base they have in Northern Australia. A country of 23 million , we have been dependent on the US keeping the peace in the Pacific for the past 70 years. Never thought this would change in my lifetime.

It was good to see the protests – a starting point, but it will need so much vigilance to stop the rot & the lies. Trump thinks he is the god appointed Tsar & Ryan is talking of “Kick starting the economy” – which has been buzzing for years & could have been so much better if not for the GOP. I do not understand how they are rewarded for what they did.

Rant done – sorry – you probably wish you didn’t ask “how are you”.

He also said something like their maybe be another time. Everyday I fine myself wondering what has happen to this country that put something like Trump in office.

The White House is installing senior aides atop major federal agencies to shadow the administration’s Cabinet secretaries, creating a direct line with loyalists who can monitor and shape White House goals across the federal bureaucracy.

The aides chosen by the White House—given the title of senior adviser in each agency—have already been responsible for hiring at some departments and crafting the blueprint of Trump policy before the Cabinet members win Senate confirmation to take office. They have worked with congressional aides, lobbyists and others seeking influence in the new administration.

The arrangement, described by four people involved in the transition planning, appears designed to help the White House maintain control over its priorities despite pledging to give Cabinet secretaries unusual autonomy. Having senior advisers reporting to both the agency chiefs and the White House could spur early tensions and create conflicts with that pledge of autonomy.

“They want to keep kind of a West Wing-infused attachment to the agencies,” said a person familiar with the arrangement. “There will be tentacles from the White House to these agencies…The effort is to demonstrate that all points lead back to certain people,” such as Trump’s son-in-law, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, or chief of staff Reince Priebus.

Wow, indeed. Utah!? It just might be that it will be women who bring down the white male cabals that have taken over state houses and the white house, ironically, with major help from white women. The mid-term elections will be the first major measuring stick of just how effective the resistance has been.
I hope the female congress members who were on the stage this past Saturday, do so major acting out and getting shit done.
My major concern, however is the supreme court.
