Nerdy, thank you so much for continuing to maintain TOD. I know from reading so many comments that It means so much to everyone and your work has not only been superb in content but in our lives.

    Good morning, NERDY and TODville.

NERDY, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and soul for keeping us together. It means so much to all of us to continue this fight, together.

I am making chocolate chips cookies today to pass out at the march. Wish I could send a bag to all of you!!

These marches that are going on around the country and the world give me hope. I saw in London where they were having a march that filled to capacity one of its squares. I’m so hopeful.

Thanks everyone for the heads-up about Twitter *automatically* changing our accounts back so that we’re following the deplorable ones. Grrrr. So I’ve changed mine once again. And, I discovered that the two tweets of mine in which I referenced Potus PBO, if I clicked on Potus, it would have taken me to the deplorable’s page again. So, sadly, I had to delete those two tweets. I don’t want any connection there at all. Also, if you were previously following the White House’s Flickr account, you might want to unfollow that as well. There’s now an archived account for PBO’s White House.

Good morning Nerdy and TOD! So excited to see the Women’s March today. Reminds me of women’s march we did in the 1980’s in Washington. Was much younger then and I went out for that one. But it is wonderful to see all the people pouring into Washington. I intended to march here today but have been fighting a sinus infection all week which has not been made better by all the crying:-) So I may watch and cheer from the sidelines this time.

Nerdy, I hope if you start to feel overwhelmed by maintaining this place you will ask for help. I think there are enough smart people here that value this place that you could enlist us to take a share of the work from you. I certainly am more than willing. I am not familiar with word press have have done websites so could pick it up if need be. We appreciate you!

Saw this photo this morning and it made me smile. Also, don’t know if any of you caught it but the Marine escorting Michelle down those steps squeezed her hand before letting go of her:-) It also was very sweet. I doubt that Melania will engender that type of affection.

    Love you all!

I am replenished by the love here on a daily basis and just seeing the love in the picture of President and Michelle Obama, and the simply hand squeeze of support and affection from the young Marine fills me up again. Love is the only thing that can overcome the self destructive hatred that fills the minds and hearts of those that cannot see what that does to you. That’s one of three things that I know will always be a part of the Obama Diary community. Faith in daring to do what cannot be done. Hope in positive change when we seek it and work for it. Love in all the things we do as a guiding force.

    Good mornin’!

I truly don’t think it was an accident that Mrs. Obama gave those telling looks throughout the day yesterday. I’m laughing to myself about it, even now. Although we all know she’d be filled with all kinds of emotions leaving the White House with her family, I think yesterday’s look was planned – and I’m sure many of you agree. She decided not to smile for the cameras, but just to roll with whatever she felt like doing. To me, it was a look of utter disdain at the Trumps. Kind of how your mother would look at you in church, when you were misbehaving. She barely smiled, that I could tell, and why would she?

By the way, Melania, there are federal laws about “accepting presents” when you are in the White House. Over a certain dollar amount, the presents cannot be kept by the First Family or anyone else WHO WORKS FOR US. So, your little kind-looking gesture of giving the First Lady a gift from Tiffany’s meant NOTHING to her. She probably never saw that box again, after she handed it off with her look of disdain. She didn’t fall for your pretense at being gracious. Just guessing here, but I’m pretty sure she will never want to think of you or your big fat sugar daddy after yesterday. Thank you, anyway.

And, by the way, hope there wasn’t anything edible and perishable in that old fake-ass Tiffany’s box from the bottom of your closet, Melania, because it’s now in the trash outside the WH. #SorryNotSorry

    • January 21, 2017 at 11:55 am

You know – and I’m just being very petty here, but whatever – a gift from Tiffany’s is so yesterday’s automatic wealth display. They probably thought just the blue box by itself was enough to signal to the world that they are 5th Avenue shoppers.

When I think of the immensely thoughtful gifts the Obamas have given over the years, usually steeped in artistic merit or sentimental value or history – THAT’S CLASS.

      • 57 jacquelineoboomer
        January 21, 2017 at 11:57 am

THAT’S CLASS. And, apparently, class is so yesterday. But for the fact Citizen Barack and Citizen Michelle still walk among us (even though they might be sunbathing among us today!).

        • January 21, 2017 at 12:05 pm

I saw a video today – and let me just start with UGH – of some talking heads chatting about how the con man has redecorated the Oval Office with gold curtains and gold brocade couches and one of them was saying that was just fine because he needs to feel at home, that he’s always been surrounded by gold so this is what he needs to feel comfortable. So you know, I guess that’s their job, to make the man-baby feel comfortable every step of the way. Boy, is she in for a surprise.

        January 21, 2017 at 1:05 pm

You are right, and not being negative. Of course, the gesture is totally the norm. But I don’t find ANYTHING that the Trumps do as normal. So what I may find normal for one, doesn’t fit the other. All bets are off!

So thrilled to see people all over Europe and the world supporting us here niliathiel! DT needs to understand that his conduct is not going to be welcomed anywhere. And it is good practice for the same forces seem to be at work in Europe. Hopefully your countries can learn from our mistakes and not allow this to spread further.

PBO and Michelle will be so PROUD to see this today! For us old folks, this is not new, we learned it in the 1960’s from the civil rights icons. But for those younger, so much us this was learned and burned into their hearts from PBO and Michelle. This honors them. In response to MM’s question, 9 of the 10 there had never marched in Washington previously. THIS is PBO’s legacy.

Michelle’s name has been added to the honored ancestors; her name has been invoked three times so far.
Michael More went on about destroying/remaking/taking over in what is Bernie’s vision, the DNC. Said he was in support of Keith Ellison. o glad when Ashley Judd interrupted and started speaking.
One of the best things about this march is it is clear that this is not a one-off. There are many social justice organizations old and new to join all over the country that are being highlighted.

    • January 21, 2017 at 5:23 pm

I’m glad to hear that. This match can’t just be about women and it can’t be another occupy that just fizzleds away. Of course it has had a far different start than occupy, and this is also much bigger. We just have to keep momentum going after everyone goes home.

To be honest with you, I wasn’t that taken with the word ‘resistance’ when it was first used about a month ago. But now I fully understand, I’m all in with it, it means sooooo much more. It means not giving one inch, it means calling out Trump and his minions at every chance, it means fighting Trump in the House and the Senate and in the voting booths. And it means if necessary fighting Trump in the streets.
