This was an awesome speech. Watched it all on C-Span until they started taking calls and the first one was glad he was leaving office and went into the litany of all the RW talking points. And so damned uninformed. Shut it off. Time for a good Night folks. Love you all. Thank you Nerdy for all you do for us. (((Hugs))))

In keeping with PBO’s request for us to keep working, this is where I will be with my OFA team on Monday, MLK Day:
On Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM PT, members of the Los Angeles Area Congressional Delegation will be at the California Endowment in Downtown Los Angeles to lead “#FacesOfObamacare: Health Care Is a Human Right,” an event in support of protecting the Affordable Care Act, featuring personal testimonials from individuals about how the ACA has improved Americans’ health and strengthened our nation’s economy. Speakers at the event will include Congressmembers Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), Pete Aguilar (CA-31), Nanette Barragán (CA-44), Karen Bass (CA-37), Julia Brownley (CA-26), Tony Cárdenas (CA-29), Judy Chu (CA-27), Ted Lieu (CA-33), Alan Lowenthal (CA-47), Grace Napolitano (CA-32), Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Norma Torres (CA-35), and Maxine Waters (CA-43), as well as individuals who will provide personal testimonials supporting the ACA. The event will be open to the press.

So glad my 87 year old mother has lived through the Obama years (and with an Obamacrat daughter who kept her informed on all things Obama). She called me at the end of the speech bursting with pride and satisfaction in how PBO has conducted himself and in how he has governed.

I hate to interrupt this moment, BUT

Let’s avoid ALL MASS MEDIA! Folks have suggested avoiding the coverage of the clownstick inauguration, but let’s send a louder message of resistance! C’Mon there’s ZILLIONS of us that are sickened by that jackass and the thought of him as the face of our great country.

It’s just ONE DAY and we’ll all suffer the humiliating and disgusting reality for a long time to come.
    • Get in the car and take a day trip!
    • Stream movies!
    • Enjoy a hobby!
    • H*ll anything fun and harmless!

    SHARE and pass the word!

FOCUS: Even if you avoid the main coverage, this miserable, hideous nastiness will be announced and interspersed during this day.

PBO wants us to stay engaged and to listen even when we have very different views. I am still not sure that I can stomach seeing the smug Deplorable One and his sycophants defile such an important institution (that he makes me sick to my stomach is literal), but I will read the reports/reviews the following days because we cannot disengage. We have been given our orders by our forever leader and I will try to comply.

Aloha TOD ohana. Just got home, haven’t seen and heard the President’s speech yet, but glanced through the comments here. Of course it’s wonderful, of course it’s for the ages, and of course I’m going to have a box of tissues right beside me. But I just needed to post this hello, because listening to our president is one of the things I do with you folks. This community is where I feel most at home with my steadfast love for PBO. Husband is cooking dinner, so we’ll eat first, then watch. It’s breaking my heart, and I haven’t even seen it yet!!

Watching this final speech through tears, I thought how fast these eight years have gone by. I flashed to little Sasha at the 2008 convention picking up confetti off the floor and throwing it in the air, picking more up and throwing it in the air as the two families made their way off stage. 8 years of a historic presidency that were filled with pride, love and loyalty through the tough battles. If there was anything I could say to the President, it would be “Thank you for the sacrifice that you and your family have made for this country.” Perhaps WE underestimated how bruising it would be. I don’t think he did. And he and his family handled it all with such intelligence, grace, dignity and class. And accomplished so much in spite of the unprecedented opposition. We won’t be seeing any of that again…especially in the next 4 years.

Since Nov. 8th, I have also been in a state disbelief, sort of a fog, my energy drained and my spirit shaken. Tired. I went into deep lurking mode. You see, I’m a product of the Civil Rights movement and we worked hard. I never thought I would ever see all of that hard work in danger of being gutted and by whom. I worked on both President Obama’s campaigns and reveled in every accomplishment. After listening to My President speak, I realize that my spirit, though shaken is not broken. I have to re-charge and re-dedicate myself to looking out for my people. You know who you are and you know who you are not. Earlier today I read a quote that went; freedom fighters don’t always win, but they are always right. I’ll modify it by saying; freedom fighters don’t always win, but they always fight.

God Bless President Barack Obama and his family.

Peace and Blessings to my TOD Family.

I haven’t watched the speech yet but just read the transcript I didn’t think I could face the farewell idea until I had read the transcript. Now I will watch him deliver it. I believe President Obama did something sublime. I want to use the word perfect but I think only the fundies on the left and the right use that kind of motive for their fanaticism. I am not a fanatic which is why I adore our President Obama. Anyway, the President laid out the entire situation and the remedies to be taken, he helped us realize our system of peaceful transition of office is even possible in this awful situation. He framed what we have been doing in its larger context and helped us see this wasn’t a flash in the pan. He showed us how we look at the long view as the ideal and never question again that we can, yes we can, we did and we will continue to. PS. I love this place too. I can’t thank all of you enough for simply being. This community is a gift from heaven for me. I can face the resistance ahead against a perverted and fanatic group that has ascended in power in the last election much better with you.

In the coming months I will be looking for books and articles from the Obama staff and true insiders who will be able to tell us about the behind the scenes actions of our president. You know that all kind of folks will be writing things for all kinds of reasons, one of which is that our PBO is a one man stimulus, but they will not b getting my money.
