      Absolutely Judith!
My OFA team will be teaming up with Congresswoman Napolitano for our Day of Action next week! And yesterday, I listened in to the OFA Conference all where David Axelrod spoke about how important ACA was to his family and his daughter’s medical needs and how much he admired PBO for taking the risk and doing what was right for America.

As a pundit, David is a disapointment to me, but, he will speak out about how important the ACA is for families like his.

    Absolutely! Good morning all.

  4. January 9, 2017 at 12:48 pm

    Tomorrow. Tomorrow.

I am nervous. I am sad. I am excited. I am anxious. I have all these emotions running through and can’t wait.

I love President Obama. He is such an inspiration. Just an all around decent human being for the ages, and very rare in our society of humans.

I will miss him until I see his face show up again after Jan. 20. I will continue to follow his every move, action. He will go down in history with the greats. Eight years of refusing to be dragged into the mud, steadfastness, resilience, perseverance, resolve in this public space. I don’t know anyone that could have done this under the conditions that he did. He is an amazing man. He is a better man than me and so many more.

History will reflect this in every way.

    Thank you, President Obama.

    Love always,

It is so sad to see the beginning again knowing we are now on the other end of the journey. Most of all it is more than sad, it is scary to be turning over his presidency to DJT. Now International events will be heartstopping knowing it will be Trump responding instead of our calm, thoughtful, knowledgeable Obama. I wonder if I will have any more good night sleeps?

        • January 9, 2017 at 2:35 pm

Good question. We have a lot to worry about. A LOT.

          • January 9, 2017 at 3:05 pm

There are so many things happening at once, I am afraid it is being done so that we can’t rise up in time. I think only us, as ordinary citizens can effect any kind of change by our loud, mass turnouts — whether it be in the streets, on the phones, via social media, etc. Otherwise, we are screwed.

I know the coup in Liberia, is nothing compared to this. But I tell you, we were so shell shocked by it, that people just stood still and watched the carnage around us. It was such a rude awakening because we believed it could happen in other African countries, certainly as there was in Ghana, Nigeria, etc. We lulled ourselves into thinking that because we had a special relationship with the U.S., we were above reproach. Well, it happened. Today we are years, behind Nigeria, Ghana and other African countries, who experienced their uprisings early and regrouped.

The similarity, if there is one I am witnessing here, is that people think that authoritarianism can’t happen here. I am here to say it can, if we do nothing. If he can hire his son in-law and we don’t raise cane but just ask if he can do it, if he and GOP can ram his nominees in without any ethical vetting and we just do it, if they are allowed as he was to show no financial records, and just do it, by the time we speak up, it would have become the norm.

Don’t be surprised when they make up stories, using outlets like Fox to point to specific people, saying that they threatened him, etc., and maybe they won’t go to jail as in countries like mine, but their lives will be hell spending time to fix it.

En masse, because of the foundations in this country, we can effect some change. But if we allow the shock of it all to engulf us, we will have a difficult future.

That is why I think they are doing so many things at once. I have been a nervous wreck for weeks just thinking about it all. And to top it seeing PBO leaving to be replaced by this idiot is a punch to the gut.

            Sorry, for my long rant.

            • January 9, 2017 at 3:27 pm

NO, don’t ever be sorry for speaking the truth. I agree with you completely. Trump and his crime family and cohorts are using the SHOCK AND AWE approach to managing the BIG HEIST they are about to pull on all of us. It’s a tactic that has proven effective and the GOP is completely on board, top to bottom. They want to demoralize us forever. It’s sickening.

              January 9, 2017 at 3:34 pm

Kate, you raise a very good point.

People standing around in shock will get run over.

Things are being done right now. It’s just not getting news coverage. We are working on changing that too

As David Axelod said yesterday, “Now that the dog has caught the car” we need to be doing something too!

OFA is busy in each State, trying to rally people to join a chapter, to go to barackobama.com and sign up on CONNECT and participate.

Whatisworking has her chapter making calls into Tennessee to help change the votes of their Senators. She has set up virtual phonebank to make the calls. I plan to sign up and make calls from home with her chapter.

And anyone can too. Email her, she will be happy to have your participation.

I know what you mean, GGail. Same feelings for myself about Opie getting old.
I was also thinking I was 62 yrs old when Barack Obama became President. Since that time I have retired, gotten Social Security and Medicare plus had three replacement surgeries. I have had two daughters marry, added three grandchildren to the family with one more about to be born this month. I have traveled to Ireland & Northern Ireland, Italy, Switzerland and just got back from Germany and Austria. I printed 800 postcards of two Obama portraits I painted and handwrote why I wanted to elect PBO on them, called, wrote, emailed, attended meetings, phone conferences with Senators and Congressman, as well as Cabinet members, donated money, signed petitions, attended the 2009 Inauguration, watched every debate, speech, worked to get the ACA, and am now just realizing how many changes have happened in my own life in these last eight years.
I literally feel that the Obamas are an important part of my life.

You need to know how technically behind I am. I no longer have combatability between my computer, printer and adobe photoshop elements program so am unable to print more postcards. I do have two originals left I am keeping. I was honored to be juried into WSO (Watercolor Society of Oregon) last year only for florals not portraiture. I took some iPad photos of those PBO postcards plus a couple other photos of paintings I did of PBO for my own art room. Now if you could explain to me how to post the photos from my iPad for you to see I will try to do that.

  44. January 9, 2017 at 9:14 pm

” I believe Barack Obama was the greatest President of my lifetime, but as I heard him talk, I remembered he is about more than political office. At so many times—his amazing speech about race in the first campaign, his powerful words after Sandy Hook, his second inaugural when laid out the imperative of attacking climate change—he has moved us beyond politics to elevate our values. This is his great opportunity now; just as America faces a crisis of values, a great debate about who we really are at our core, he will be speaking not as just a politician, but as a moral leader. In many ways we need that even more today than great politicians.”

One very key indicator of the kind of leader PBO is can be captured by those who worked for him or served alongside him.

Most have been with him a very long time and many are in tears when they leave.

Even when they leave the official positions working with or for him, they still love him and proud to have served with him or worked for him.

that is why the people who are O-haters and detractors never make any impression on my stellar opinion of him because my feelings are reinforced by those who know him best.

I first saw the groom, Mr. Marvin Nicholson at a presidential candidate John Kerry rally at The Ohio State University.

He was then “the-body-man” for Presidential Candidate John Kerry. oh, he sometimes carried that prominent (tan?) jacket candidate Kerry wore on the campaign trail.
