Several times she speaks of being an adult, being grown, and knowing who you are in dealing with adversity. his is Michelle unplugged; loving it.

Good evening, TOD! Ms. “ALWAYS ON THE CASE” Nerdy, THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THIS PLACE HUMMING! I’ve missed so much while dealing with the results of the fire in my home; however, I’m comforted to know that when I get a little time, I can scroll back to November 14th and catch up!

Ms. Chips, miss you and Danny like crazy! Hope that you taking care and healing. ❤ you and miss you!

FLOTUS used one of my favorite slang words — 'DAG'

Just LOVING this interview — she's keeping it real and soooo down to earth; speaking TRUTH to Power… Can't wait to catch her NEXT chapter!

My 87 year old mother, like Michelle always says we have to “Keep it moving” when adversity comes as well. I hope young women watch this; MO is giving a master class in how to handle your haters.

My mother always said we just have to “keep going,” through the struggles in life (my struggles, of course, paled in comparison with Mrs. Obama’s and those who needed to hear her master class tonight!). And our mothers were right!

Greetings from Iowa – I am still savoring your wonderful posts about Barack Obama, but I am increasing depressed that PBO will be leaving office. I have been withdrawing from the news and social media – it will never be the same. Today, however, I came across something that made me remember some of my other favorite things: Slate.com is having “Wonder Week” in celebration of Stevie Wonder. There’s a series of articles about his genius, his albums, etc – apparently to be 17 different articles this week. It’s been a balm to my soul. Check it out at http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/wonder_week/2016/12/introducing_wonder_week_slate_s_celebration_of_stevie_wonder_and_all_the.html.

You might want to pick up Rolling Stone’s Collector’s Edition, “The Obama Years”….got me teary.

  11. December 19, 2016 at 9:03 pm

I could have listen to Michelle Obama for another hour. So proud of that woman.

  12. December 19, 2016 at 9:08 pm

I am so depressed. I had hope the electors would save us. I honestly did. My brain cannot fathom they’re this stupid and irresponsible.

    We’re so fucked.

The Failsafe FAILED, making the EC useless and unconstitutional.

We must get rid of it, we must find the will.

This guy was hopeful, too, about the EC, but now he’s moved on. Or so he says. First his comment annoyed me, but then – for about 5 minutes – it made me feel like we still have a collective purpose. Offering it to you, in case it helps ease your mind, hopefully longer than it did mine.

kept hoping for a miracle but in truth republicans would have surprised me if they even contemplated defecting – they are simply too greedy for wealth & power-hungry

On another note: Everyone should know by now that PBO does not tip his hand when he has something major planned and his staff is leak-proof. I expect an announcement about how Putin is taken down for his hacking of the election any day now. The media. as usual is loud and stupid, but I was a bit surprised by the way Ted Koppell (yes, he is still alive) confronted Josh about this matter in the interview that was shown on CBS Sunday Morning. They never learn.

This is the 4th person to throw their hat in to run for DNC Chair

add his name to the growing list of folks who want to be DNC chair

    Jaime Harrison
    Keith Elison
    Tom Perez

notice there are no women running…you have to wonder why that is

Indeed meta – this was just what we needed. An infusion of our FLOTUS’ inspiration, warmth, wisdom, beauty…all in a single hour. I have it on my DVR, and I plan to watch it again when it airs on OWN this Wednesday! 🙂

      • December 20, 2016 at 9:35 am

It was AMAZING in every way. OMG, what a breath of fresh air. Loved PBO’s entrance as well and how FLOTUS lit up just seeing him. He’s such a true gentleman. Again, AMAZING.

Pope Francis, as most know, is high on helping immigrants and refugees, around the globe. He’s even invited a few families to hop aboard his plane, and has brought them back to the Vatican to be relocated, to set the example, and he also continues to show leadership from this pastoral not political perspective. Although many times in the past on other issues, U.S, Catholic Bishops have seemed to be leaning far right, on this issue they’re also keeping an eye on Trump and anything dastardly he’ll pull. As a Catholic (and one who remembers we’re a country of immigrants), I’m very pleased to see these preps.

USCCB [U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops] Forms Working Group to Monitor Needs of Migrants, Refugees

The groundwork for the working group was set during the bishops’ annual fall general assembly in Baltimore when several bishops suggested the conference closely monitor actions by the federal government that affect immigrants and refugees. In announcing the working group, the Public Affairs Office said the bishops and USCCB staff will be ready to respond to any executive orders and legislation that the new Congress and President-elect Donald J. Trump may introduce.

    gratified to see the mainly positive response to the interview of Ms. Oprah and FLOTUS;

yes, some of the O-haters (aka deplorables) are out tonight and trying to hijack the response to the interview. I am not going to let them steal my joy from the interview

      December 19, 2016 at 11:06 pm

Exactly! A few words “out there” won’t take away from how very much gazillions of people who tuned in loved her interview. This is one night when I hope to just ignore the haters. In this case, that hurts them worse than anything, and I’m all for that.

Unless I missed something, Sacramento CA did not air the FLOTUS/Oprah interview. Granted I didn’t even turn my tv on until a few minutes before 8pm Pacific Time, but unless it had already aired before 8pm, there was no interview listed on our local CBS station at 8pm; only regular programming for the rest of the night. I couldn’t find anything streaming online either. For streaming, it would have been necessary to join and pay for All Access CBS. I already pay Xfinity enough and feel like I’m being robbed. So angry right now you could fry an egg on my head! Conservative-controlled valley media jerks will not give a platform for anything Obama if they can help it.

      GE lmrj.

I’m probably the last person who should be giving advice on television, since I quit my cable subscription a couple of years ago and now don’t have a TV, but saw a tweet a few days ago that this special will air on OWN TV — not sure what that is, and how you can view it — the @OWN_TV Twitter account hasn’t tweeted since 2012, and @Oprah Twitter account hasn’t mentioned this, so don’t know how helpful this is. 😦

It’s the Oprah Winfrey Network – OWN. The Twitter handle for OWN is @OWNTV. I pretty much keep my cable on OWN and DVR shows on ABC.

Thank you arapaho415. I found an article that said the interview will air on OWN (Oprah’s network) on Wednesday 12/21. I’ll wait for that. Just miffed that it did not show on the local CBS station tonight as advertised. Conservative media will not give an inch to anything Obama. Just angry that they are able to control our flow of information and viewership that way. I need to find a way around the cable void.

OUTSTANDING! Thank you meta! I have also bookmarked it and will watch as soon as I get home.
I lurk on a daily basis, and don’t know what I’d do without the TOD village; my main source for actual national and world news and everything Obama. Many thanks to all contributors, bts, Nerdy for keeping this site ODS troll free, running smoothly and updated daily, and most of all to Chips for creating this Obama Oasis. We miss you greatly and pray that you’re healing.

Glad that last comment got eaten:) I did it wrong…anyway, who thought that my Republican senators would be the voices of reason? Life is strange sometimes…

LAURA INGRAHAM: Obviously Trump will become, officially become, the next president of the United States today after the Electoral College meets. But he is going to have challenges from Republicans on Capitol Hill. And most obvious among the speeds bumps he’ll hit will be [Republican Sens.] John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Jeff Flake, that triumvirate of idiocy. Excuse me. But he’s going to hit some rough waters with them, why?
