Wow – what a day the President has planned. All good events, luckily, but a packed day. And he’ll do it in his stride.

Me? I’m trying to convince myself TODAY’s the day I decorate that one remaining shelf I had planned to cover with Christmas lights and garland! #MoreCoffeeThatsTheTicket

GA TOD. Some upsetting news…. My cousin’s home was burglarized while taken my 8-year-old niece to school in Phoenix yesterday. Fortunately, nobody was hurt but the thieves her 11-week-old Cavapoo puppy that was a birthday gift along with their Christmas presents, laptop & iPad.

“PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) -A Phoenix family is devastated after someone broke into their home, ransacked the place, stole Christmas gifts and, most shocking of all, took off with their brand-new puppy. The entire family is heartbroken. Their 8-year-old daughter is still in shock. They’re hoping someone will see this story and help bring the puppy home. The couple said they left their house around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. They came back to find that the house was ransacked, clothes were thrown around the bedrooms, and an iPad and laptop were taken. In the living room, the burglar took almost all of the gifts under the Christmas tree and little Rosa was taken, too, along with her food and water bowls. “We definitely feel violated,” Raghuram Vadarevu said. “It’s your home, it’s your sanctuary. To see that violated is pretty crazy.” They have contacted police and the family is offering a $1,000 reward for the dog’s return.”

My niece is beside herself and if there is anyone who can help towards the reward it would be greatly appreciated. Any excess funds will go to a no-kill shelter in the N. Phoenix area. Thanks TOD family-Tarak

Oh lp, That is simply awful. How can anyone be that mean and evil? One thing to take presents, laptop, iPad, but the dog?!?!?!?! So sorry for your family.

      • December 14, 2016 at 2:38 pm

That is the worst part, Tnmtgirl. They had waited 2 months to get the puppy from the breeder on my niece’s birthday and she had gotten so attached after bringing her home from Oklahoma 2 1/2 weeks ago. She doesn’t understand why someone would steal her beautiful puppy 😦

This is heart breaking to lose a brand new family member no matter how long it’s been in the home, you fall in love with a pet before you take it home. How can people be so heartless as to steal Xmas presents and a pet? My heart does out to you & your family Lovely Plains. A young couple new to this country adopted two kitties from me last year and their home was burglarized a few months a go. I felt so bad but glad the kitties were ok.

I am so very sorry LP. Sending my positive thoughts out that the puppy- and hopefully all the items are found safely.

About 30 Years ago, I loaded my car w/ Christmas gifts for my family & young sons, covered everything carefully, locked my car parked & went to work. We would be going to my mom’s straight from work. I had found the LAST large transformer for my 5 yr old son- paid a fortune for it. Was living in Stockton CA at the time. It was Christmas eve. Came out to my car after work and my window had been shattered and all my presents stolen. It hurt so bad, I didn’t earn much, single with two kids.. crappy car so it was obvious I was lower income.. and still they robbed me on Christmas.

Some folks are hard to understand.

      • December 14, 2016 at 3:34 pm

Thank you 57andfemale! We are hoping for the best case scenario that the puppy is returned….all the donations will go to a good cause if so. My cousin has health issues and so does my niece. She doesn’t have supplemental money just laying around so I’m hoping raising funds will help ease the burden of paying out a reward, or in the unfortunate circumstance she is not returned…finding another puppy. I appreciate your kindness 🙂

In just a few weeks this wonderful eight years of looking forward every day to the progress and the celebration of such a wonderful man in our top job is drawing to a close and I am bereft as well as bursting with pride and awe at President Obama, Vice President Biden, their wives and the whole team. Sometimes I have no words to express how I really loathe Trump. And to listen to Bernie Sanders town hall this week when people from a reliable democratic county say that for them it was either Trump or Bernie and no one else really boils my blood. To put a guy like Trump in the highest office of the land is beyond unbearable. World leaders and all other unsavory characters now know that all you have to do is compliment him and he will do what you ask. Just last night he was bragging in one of those ‘thank you’ rallies that now Celebrities are calling him and asking to be involved and he name dropped Anna Wintour, Bill Gates and Kanye West. Of course Kanye West will be Trump’s friend seeing how Obama never gave him the time of day and he never got invited to the White House like Jay Z and Beyonce and I bet it was killing him. Thank you TODers for being here and allowing me space to vent. It will be a long time before I feel normal again.

Meant to post this last night (on the ‘doing good for the planet’ thread), but got sidetracked by the horrors of DJT. 😦

This article goes in depth on the various parcels up for consideration, and indigenous people’s support of Antiquities Act designation of federal sites — all of which may be undone 😦 by the horrendous incoming Adm.

Photo in this tweet is of land where Cliven Bundy’s clan resides — lots about Harry Reid in this article, too.

Poor Melania! Her husband prefers her step-daughter over her. Melania is staying in NY because the Donald wants his daughter, Ivanka, to be FLOTUS. I will not be surprised if Melania ends up filing for divorce on the grounds that her husband abandoned her.

"Four years ago today twenty beautiful children and six heroic educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary. Today, we remember them—the staff and teachers who responded to the danger in their hallways with strength and resolve, guiding the children to safety, even giving their lives to protect the children in their care. We remember the first responders who rushed to the scene to help, holding their own shock at bay because others needed them more. And we remember the children who held each other in the face of unconscionable evil; who, even as they’ve grown up in the shadow of this tragedy, will grow up loved and cared for more fiercely than ever. Two days after that horror, I traveled to Sandy Hook to tell the people of Newtown that they were not alone—that we shared their grief, that they inspired us, and that for them, we would try to change. That’s all still true. We still share their grief. We’re still inspired by the survivors and the families who have worked to make a difference. And we’ve tried to change. My administration has taken action to tighten the background check system and make it more efficient, strengthen enforcement of existing laws, boost gun safety technology, and help more Americans suffering with mental illness get the help they need. Still, Congress failed to pass gun safety reforms, including universal background checks that had the bipartisan support of the vast majority of Americans, even as more mass shootings have riddled America in the years since. But I still believe that there are enough good people on both sides of this issue who care more about protecting our kids than defending effortless access to guns for those who would do our kids harm. I still believe we have the courage to change." —President Obama

Back in the day, I enjoyed going to the smaller LA venues for concerts (The Troubadour in West Hollywood, The Palomino in North Hollywood).

Went to a Linda Ronstadt concert at the Palomino when she was dating Governor Jerry Brown, and she introduced him and made him stand up during her concert. 😀

    https://news.vice.com/story/vice-news-sues-fbi-for-info-on-trump-the-clintons-and-breitbart-news

VICE News is suing the FBI, demanding the bureau release records related to its curious disclosures, behind-the-scenes actions, and apparent leaks in the days leading up to the U.S. presidential election.

The wide-ranging Freedom of Information Act lawsuit was filed Tuesday morning in conjunction with Ryan Shapiro, a doctoral candidate at MIT and research affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. Earlier this month, VICE News and Shapiro filed more than 50 FOIA requests with the FBI seeking documents about the bureau’s discussions regarding Donald Trump, along with other documents that would shed light on the FBI’s decision a week before the election to tweet newly posted records from a long-dormant Twitter account about Bill Clinton’s 2000 pardon of financier Marc Rich.

MUCH, MUCH more at the link!

      GE and thanks, DF.

Before the election, @joshtpm sent a lot of tweets linking Comey, Giuliani and the NY branch of the FBI with Chaffetz’s erroneous announcement that the FBI re-opened the HRC email case.

MSM took Chaffetz’s bait and ran with the story — the front page of @nytimes print edition was plastered with deplorable Comey’s letter. 😦

It’s clear that the NY branch of the FBI, Comey and Giuliani were cooking something up (Comey was federal prosecutor out of NYC, so he was tight with FBI-NY).

With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.” ~ President Barack Hussein Obama

These are laws related to Australian politicians not declaring their interests – shame they don’t apply to Trump – Misconduct in Public Office

“Disgraced former NSW Labor minister Eddie Obeid will be behind bars until at least December 2019 after being sentenced to five years’ jail, with a minimum non-parole period of three years.

The former powerbroker was found guilty in June of misconduct in public office.

The conviction relates to Obeid’s failure to disclose his family’s business interests in cafe leases at Sydney’s Circular Quay, while lobbying a senior bureaucrat about the rights of waterfront retailers in 2007 when he was a member of the NSW Upper House.”

Dear TOD Family, I am reading reading reading, and retweeting and posting on FB, but not commenting much. I usually read on my phone, and for reasons I cannot figure out, i cannot log in to comment when I am on my phone, though here on laptop, I can do so. My heart and prayers and good wishes go with each of you when you share a sorrow, a challenge, a wish, a plan, a need. My delight shines brightly when you share good things, success, hopes, and happy moments. This TOD Sanctuary is crucial to my getting by and getting through this time, and I am grateful for it and each of you. NerdyWonka —- I hope it all flows back to you, all the good that you do and the time and smarts and energy and effort and eloquence you put forth. We are blessed. Chipsticks, you built this house and we live in it with love for you. I love our President Barack Obama, and I keep bringing my eyes and ears and mind back to these days, and these times, and then some enjoyment of past days and past times, and I take courage and strength from his words, such as he said to guests at the Hannukah event tonight — see you on the other side. At first I thought he meant, you know…..and then I saw his smile and realized he means, once he has finished the joy he took on for all of us and even for the haters because he is a great soul here to be the best human being he can be —- once he is a private citizen. He will be ready to rock and roll and we can step in and join him moving Forward!

    • December 14, 2016 at 9:57 pm

Ooops: I said at the end, “…once he has finished the joy he took on for all of us…” I meant “the JOB he took on”, the Presidency, and it has put him through lots of Not-Joy, but he has always and forever found joy and energy and a way out of no way, so here’s to his joy, then and now, and our joy. Joy to the World!!!!

      Beautiful sentiments, Nancie!

One thing that may be an issue is when you try to comment from your phone TOD/Wordpress may not recognize the IP address (it has to be approved by BT to keep out spammers and trolls)….whereas your laptop is most likely using the same internet connection you originally signed in with (which I assume is your home on most occasions) I don’t know your setup but maybe your phone is using a data plan instead of the wifi from your house? That is the only thing that immediately comes to mind.

      • December 15, 2016 at 2:03 pm

Thank you so much for this input lovelyplains . That makes sense about my laptop being my original connection to TOD. I didn’t even have a smartphone until a very few years ago. And usually I am trying to connect from out in the world, when I am reading TOD on my phone at a coffee shop or the library, etc. I will keep scheming. I do a lot of nodding, frowning, grinnning and internal fist-bumping or fist raising toward TOD postings while reading on my phone, though I can’t actually put them down here to be seen. But I can retweet from my phone and the content here, first and foremost from NerdyWonka genius tweeter, and then things shared by TOD family, and that makes me feel like I am lighting up the world with good solid worthy information, plus goodness and jokes and pretty scenes and all of it. Best to you LP

        • December 15, 2016 at 6:48 pm

My pleasure, Nancie! If you have the know how or have someone that can help you with your phone settings….while you are at home, change your network settings to use the home wifi/internet connection (same IP address that your laptop uses) and try posting comments afterwards. That may give you a definitive answer 🙂

WASHINGTON (AP) — Although pestered to a fare-thee-well to abandon Donald Trump, Republican electors appear to be in no mood for an insurrection in the presidential campaign’s last voting ritual. This most untraditional of elections is on course to produce a traditional outcome Monday — an Electoral College ticket to the White House for the president-elect.

Whether they like Trump or not, and some surely don’t, scores of the Republicans chosen to cast votes in the state-capital meetings told AP they feel bound by history, duty, party loyalty or the law to rubber-stamp their state’s results and make him president. Appeals numbering in the tens of thousands — drowning inboxes, ringing cell phones, stuffing home and office mailboxes with actual handwritten letters — have not swayed them.

THEN THEY WILL ALL OWN THIS COUP! ALL OF IT!

    http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/310388-mcmullin-gop-knew-about-russian-meddling-in-election-and-ignored-it

Former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin on Wednesday charged that congressional Republicans were aware of Russian efforts to meddle in the U.S. presidential election but didn’t do anything about it.

“Look, the truth is it’s been very obvious for leaders in Washington on the Republican side that the Russians have been undermining our democracy, or did undermine our democracy,” McMullin said at an event hosted by Politio.

“I know because I know for a fact that they know this. It was a topic of discussion during the election and they chose not to stand up.”

      GM DF.

Seems that few in MSM are connecting these two dots…

From Tuesday (my tweet quotes Evan McMullin in this video clip, ran out of room for quotation marks).

      Here’s edited video/GIF(?) of Evan McMullin’s statements:

And here’s Lindsey Graham pretty much admitting GOP knew before election:
“‘Our campaign vendor that we used was hacked,’ Graham told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in an interview. ‘We were told by the FBI in August that we were hacked in June.’”

So it’s on record that entire GOP knew about being hacked 2-3 months before election, and lied/covered-up the fact WikiLeaks only released hacks on Dems. And of course, RNC used WikiLeaks hacks against downballot Dems (see CNN video of Evan McMullin, and @nytimes article about RNC targeting downballot Dems with hacked WikiLeaks/Russia propaganda).

    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/donald-trump-twitter-emoji-crooked-hillary-232647

Twitter was told it was “bounced” from Wednesday’s meeting between tech executives and President-elect Donald Trump in retribution for refusing during the campaign to allow an emoji version of the hashtag #CrookedHillary, according to a source close to the situation.

Trump adviser Sean Spicer later denied the report, telling MSNBC that “the conference table was only so big.”

Woke in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep. Cried myself to sleep in the dark. I’m terrified.

The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell last week as the labor market continued to tighten.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits declined 4,000 to a seasonally adjusted 254,000 for the week ended Dec. 10, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Claims for the prior week were unrevised.

It was the 93rd straight week that claims were below 300,000, a threshold associated with a healthy labor market. That is the longest stretch since 1970, when the labor market was much smaller. The labor market is viewed as being at or near full employment.

AT OR NEAR FULL EMPLOYMENT! GOT IT!

Remember Trump’s very excellent brain that knows things better than the generals or intelligent agents did not think the CIA was correct. Never mind that it is their job to gather information on foreign country activities. Trump will either say anything to get his way or he truly believes what he thinks (Pathological liar). Either way he is dangerous as POTUS and more nicely put not suitable to be POTUS.

I read somewhere that Graham and McCain are mad about Russia’s interference, but they still think the “election” came out as it should…with the idiot in the White House. Don’t heap too much praise…they’ll only go so far because IOKIYAR…

    • December 15, 2016 at 9:56 am

THIS, df. It is ALWAYS, ALWAYS IOKIYAR. Does not matter what the person said or did, it is ALWAYS forgiven and all is okay. Move along, nothing to see………………..:( 😦 😦 😦

      • December 15, 2016 at 10:02 am

Adding. Over the years and definitely in this past few weeks/months, every time I have pointed out the hypocrisy of the GOP or ask the question “What if PO had done/said that?” Or, if this were Hillary saying or doing this, what would you say?” My husband ALWAYS has some talking point or some weak comeback. Every time. I am convinced that 99.9% of Republicans cannot see past the nose on their face and think that their s— does not stink, if you get my drift. It is definitely the IOKIYAR. ALWAYS!

“…mad about Russia’s interference, but they still think the “election” came out as it should”.

Much like saying black slavery was wrong but atleast it made us the powerful nation it is. By any means, they feel it’s their just due.

And DF, I’m not following you….LOL….just need to respond to the idiocy by these cretins.

    • December 15, 2016 at 11:45 am

This is why I have never given any of them kudos for any of this. I don’t trust GOPers on anything. Always, it is about smoke and mirrors for them. I saw a tweet that Graham said his campaign was hacked by the Russians. Well, how long has he known this? Why is he just now speaking up?

      from this profound piece….

First, we must recognize the need for indigenously led, state-based, state-government focused, deeply moral, deeply constitutional, anti-racist, anti-poverty, pro-justice, pro-labor, and transformative movement building. There’s no shortcut around this. We must build a movement from the bottom up. We must build relationships at the state level because that’s where most of the extremism of the current-day deconstructionists are happening. They see the possibility of a Third Reconstruction, which is why they’re working so hard this time to strangle it in its cradle — and we must know that. We have to recognize that helicopter leadership by so-called national leaders will not sustain a moral movement. What you need are local movements. The nation never changes from Washington, D.C. down. History teaches that it changes from Selma up, from Birmingham up, from Greensboro up.
