He’ll be our President again in The Decency District.

We’ll fight for him, have his back and we will prevail.

Hi, G², you are very welcome & thank you for passing this on. I trust all is otherwise well in your corner.

        …………………………………

Can anyone tell me if in the past the EC met as a group (for discussion or whatever) before voting, or do they just call in their votes in keeping with however their states voted? The speaker is right tho – their country needs them to ‘make history’ by doing the task for which their body was formed, and which was never before needed as it’s needed today!

      This is in Gambia;

not only was the incumbent defeated but it seems he is accepting defeat.

      for nations like Gambia that are ruled by autocrats, this is an achievement whose significance is unquantifiable;

      Ps,

the voters used marbles as a substitute for ballots

This is an excellent read explaining the issues surrounding American foreign policy regarding China/Taiwan…it explains why this issue requires finesse and diplomacy..

An issue that Trump might have understood if he went to security briefings…but Trump thinks that he knows best…and because his followers may not be up on this policy…they think that Trump was just being manly…

i suspect that Trump not attending security briefings won’t change after his inauguration….

      December 4, 2016 at 8:56 am

Trump isn’t interested in attending security briefings in as much as they won’t affect his ability to build a hotel in whichever country he chooses. Pence is running foreign policy along with all the other chicken-hawks. Trump does not what to be bothered by anything that doesn’t have to do with expanding his hotel brand, and if he has to insult an ally or two he will.

this is an opinion piece written by Joy Reid….an important read…
    about me…
i have had a hard time since the election….i think of how hard it is to move our country forward… how had it is it achieve justice for all….
but like CEB stated in a previous thread….SNAP Out of the funk…(i’m paraphrasing)….
I have become active in my local Dem Committee…joining the hospitality/call to action committee…our purpose is to welcome new DEMs to the are…to follow up with those Dems that come to the monthly meetings…and to encourage them to become part in action oriented activities….this gives me a focus…and as Joy Reid puts out…local politics will be critical to pushing back on policy coming out of Washington…

it makes me feel purposeful…and directed….

i hope that we all continue to purposeful and directed…

Wonderful, pf:) Great idea!! We all need to do something similar and put our frustrations to good use. This local level politics will become more important for us now ( was ALWAYS important, IMO) I have a feeling that if the moron does what he says he wants to, that a WHOLE LOT of people are going to be looking at the Democratic Party…the tent will have to get bigger still.

“But California’s role is not important simply because our state, with great pride, is looking to become resistance central against the popularly illegitimate future occupant of the White House due to our geographic, demographic, political, innovative and economic might. Our role is also as prologue, to provide the historical parallel no one is talking about.”

      Thank you for posting this,,,bob…

From the article above….”Now is the Time”

President Obama endured disrespect from all quarters. By far the most egregious insult directed toward him, the racist movement tamely termed “birtherism,” was championed by Trump.

Yet, a day after the election, I heard a journalist on the radio speak of the vitriol between Obama and Trump. No, the vitriol was Trump’s. Now is the time to burn false equivalencies forever. Pretending that both sides of an issue are equal when they are not is not “balanced” journalism; it is a fairy tale—and, unlike most fairy tales, a disingenuous one.

Now is the time to refuse the blurring of memory. Each mention of “gridlock” under Obama must be wrought in truth: that “gridlock” was a deliberate and systematic refusal of the Republican Congress to work with him. Now is the time to call things what they actually are, because language can illuminate truth as much as it can obfuscate it. Now is the time to forge new words. “Alt-right” is benign. “White-supremacist right” is more accurate.

    Sunday Greetings, TODobots!

Found this in my TL. It contains a link to a petition to the Electoral College, ‘calling on “Conscientious Electors” to protect the Constitution from Donald Trump, and to support the national popular vote winner’. At the time I looked they had 4,728,745 supporters and are aiming for at least 6m. Please check it out, and if you find it relevant, sign and pass it on to friends and family who can vote.

    Hi TOD,

Finally at a place where I can tolerate a few references to DT to be able to come back to TOD. Missed you all so much this past month. November was a crazy month with me being away and out of the country more than here, so no time to process the election results until after Thanksgiving. Whew! It’s been a wild ride. Just starting to stick a toe back into reality.

Wanted to wish you all a happy and peace filled holiday season, and I am sending you all big hugs.

Ok – so it appears my post got eaten. So I will post it again, in 2 parts, since perhaps my listing 2 websites in my original post is what made it disappear. Anyway, here is part one of my post:

I was attempting to start catching up on a month’s worth of fabulous Nerdy Wonka posts that I have missed, and while working backwards I read about 0388jojothecat’s comments about her kitty’s bladder infection. I wanted to add my 2 cents worth of research I discovered when my cat had his infection 3+ yrs ago.

First, a great website I discovered on this subject. It is written by a woman veterinarian. Like 57andfemale and FoxfireTX said, the doctor states that water/fluids are the most important thing you can add to a cat’s diet. But what I really like on this site is the CHART on what each brand of wet cat food contains to help select one that can help avoid this infection in the future. Plus there is so much great info on this site about this problem and how to avoid it in the future.

    http://catinfo.org/feline-urinary-tract-diseases/

      December 4, 2016 at 12:39 pm

And part 2 of my post got eaten as well. Boy is WordPress hugry this morning. I’ll try one more time to post it:

Another thing I do is to give my cat a daily dose of a homeopathic remedy specific to urinary tract problems. I am not sure if this remedy has helped, or if just switching my cat to no dry food, is the reason he has never had a problem since his first infection over 3 yrs ago. But considering how unbelievably expensive the treatment was to cure him, and the fact my vet said my cat would require surgery if he were to ever have another infection, the minor increase in food and homeopathic remedy costs since then has been nothing in comparison.

Since WordPress doesn’t seem to like the website, you can go to “native remedies dot com slash pet alive” and put “UTI-Free” in the search box.

Hope this helps all you kitty lovers out there.

Good Morning TOD. I am so encouraged by doing the simple task of emailing this video to my governor and mayor. It was a rush to feel that my Voice, my Vote will be heard.

I can’t say “thank you” enough to VC for uncovering the video and to Bob for posting the video so we would have a link!

Emailing this to our respective Governors and Mayors and anyone else in our local governments that we believe feels like we do about the damage a DT presidency will do to the USA and the world will make one feel quite empowered. So much better and beneficial than bitching about DT or just posting all that he is doing to harm us.

So, I have a challenge to TOD family and lurkers. Email this or tweet this video to YOUR Governor and any other local representative. Then leave your comment on TOD, telling us who you emailed it to.

    Let’s DO THIS!

So why might the Trump administration want to punt on this major opportunity by not submitting a budget?

First, it would allow Trump to avoid the complaints that always come from those the budget proposals would harm by denying them a platform to criticize the White House. No proposals on paper would mean nothing to disparage.

Ditto, bella. Ditto. To take a bit further, I’ve been thinking about what I would say if I ever say to anyone that he will never be *my* president. (Yes, the president, but not *my* president.) Decided to explain this way: I would never have a relationship (spouse, friend, etc) with a man like that or anyone even remotely like the person he is so why would I claim/call him *my* president?!?!?!?!?

LOOKING BACK….. (because I can and because it’s sometimes encouraging to do so.) This is excerpted from a 2015 post by Smartypants.

    ………………..

[Edward] Fox talks about it being very likely that Obama adopted his calm demeanor as a result of what Javanese culture calls halus.

‘In Janny Scott’s biography of Obama’s mother, A Singular Woman, one of her interviewees maintains: ‘This is where Barack learnt to be cool … if you get mad and react, you lose. If you learn to laugh and take it without any reaction, you win.’…

The Javanese have a word for this kind of bearing. They call it halus…The American anthropologist Clifford Geertz, who wrote some of the most important studies of Javanese culture in English, defined halus in The Religion of Java (1976) as: “Formality of bearing, restraint of expression, and bodily self-discipline … spontaneity or naturalness of gesture or speech is fitting only for those ‘not yet Javanese’ — ie, the mad, the simple-minded, and children.” ‘

But since Fox was particularly studying Javanese rulers and kings, he takes it a step further.

‘Halus in a Javanese ruler is the outward sign of a visible inner harmony which gathers and concentrates power in him personally. In the West, we might call this charisma. Crucially, in the Javanese idea of kingship, the ruler does not conquer opposing political forces, but absorbs them all under himself. In the words of Anderson again, the Javanese ruler has ‘the ability to contain opposites and to absorb his adversaries’. The goal is a unity of power that spreads throughout the kingdom.’

Perhaps that is why some people see Obama’s approach as one that resembles the Aikido Way.

‘There are no kicks and no punches within Aikido itself…Instead, there is an emphasis on blending with a partner’s attack and the use of techniques to lead that attack safely to a conclusion that is good for everyone…you have the chance to actually resolve the conflict rather than just winning the fight.’

To the extent that Obama absorbed these Asian influences is a question that only he can answer. But they sure make sense to me when I look at his record these last 7 years.
