I am adding my thanks to you also, Nerdy. You’ve done all the heavy lifting since Chips’ mom died, and we don’t even know what’s going to happen to this blog in the future, but you still keep on posting and helping us be informed of our wonderful president. We really appreciate all that you do for us and keep us in community with each other. Thank you.

Just got back from the mountains to get out Christmas trees. Ours aren’t as perfect as the White House trees but they are wild and smell wonderful. I can’t wait to see how beautiful the White House is decorated this year and our own Judith gets to be there.

I am glad they are going to audit the vote. We need it to be checked.

        Hi there my international sis!
I’m sorry to report that I’m about to eat the last of the feast, if you hurry, I’ll share with you. Btw, it’s COLD over here ☃️

Sigh, feeling too, too lazy to hurry; maybe next year.

/muttering/ What’s with you and Arapaho? The weather god sends you a couple *hours* of rain and instead of doing a rain dance in your birthday suits, one of you mention that you’d prefer it’d rained in the daytime. People, you take the rain when you get it! You get cooler temperatures (after a summer grumbling about the heat), one of you stresses how cold it is. /smh …I bet the weather god is thinking ‘You just can’t please all of the people all of the time’. 😀 😀 Meanwhile in the north (where I am) It’s not snowing so I’m keeping real quiet so as not to draw the weather god’s attention!

We’re getting SNOW too! We also received some very strong winds before it began to rain. I was a little concerned that a twister of some kind had dropped nearby. The rain didn’t last, but, it’s projected for tomorrow too. I hope it doesn’t rain while I’m gallivanting. I’m planning to take the metro train with jojo and meet up with Betsy at the LA Union Train Station and have a bite to eat with PurpleshoesLA when she returns via said train from her holiday visit with family. The Train Station has beautiful decor.

In Greensboro, the Rev. William Barber II gathered the faithful at sunset for one of his Moral Monday rallies. It would be the last before Election Day, in the nation’s closest, most bitter and most expensive Senate race: the showdown between the incumbent, Kay Hagan, Democrat, and the state legislature’s Republican leader, Speaker Thom Tillis. Before mounting the stage, Barber spoke with Al Jazeera America about the Interstate Crosscheck revelations. “Their computer system has already been proven to have quite a few glitches… it’s so bad at this point of the elections to create that kind of hysteria,” he said. “The claim of fraud is fraudulent. What they’re afraid of is people voting one time, not people voting two times. And the more people vote one time, it means that not many people will be voting for them, for the extremists in our state.”

      GE DF.

I wonder what happened with this — publication date is before the election (Nov 4), so it must have gone nowhere, unfortunately.

      From the article:
“Using open-records requests, Al Jazeera America obtained the previously confidential Crosscheck lists of 2.1 million voters potentially accused of casting ballots in two different states in the same election, a crime punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison. The lists reveal that the supposed double voters were matched simply on first and last name, and middle initials, suffixes and Social Security numbers were ignored. Due to its shoddy methodology, the list captured far more black, Hispanic and Asian-American voters than their white counterparts, in large part because of the commonality of minority surnames.”

GE PF58. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Very interesting. I’m not sure I understand what exit polls are (my assumption was that a few people at certain polling stations were asked who they voted for, not that every person who voted in-person was polled…).

@greg_palast says he’s talking about “disqualified” votes.

I wonder if the Secretary of State’s offices in these contested states (MI, PA, WI) has a count of these…

      • November 27, 2016 at 8:15 am

For something so important as the vote…the process can be chaotic…and the fact that each state has its own process…makes it more so…i am not sure who keeps a record of those numbers…i would think that it would be the voting commission…but i look forward to the President and Eric Holder taking this issue on…i am sure that they will have partners in the Brennan center who has kept a lot of data nation wide

Ron Glass, who broke into theater while a student at the University of Evansville and later starred in the television series Barney Miller and Firefly, has died at age 71.

Glass died Friday of respiratory failure, his agent, Jeffrey Leavett, told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Where’s Chips????? Is she still looking at the real-madrid team????? LOL
The kits Real Madrid wore on Saturday were specially made by Adidas for the match against Sporting Gijon. They started out innocently enough, if only looking slightly funky. But then the rain came. The kits, which were made out of recycled plastics, became see-through once the deluge hit. From then on, the kits stuck to the players and were nearly transparent.

Of course GOP schills are criticizing PBO’s Statement but that is how Presidents have acted and should act.

Here is President Ford’s Statement on the death of Chairman Mao Tse-tung:

“THE PEOPLE’S Republic of China announced today the passing away of Chairman Mao Tse-tung.
Chairman Mao was a giant figure in modern Chinese history. He was a leader whose actions profoundly affected the development of his own country. His influence on history will extend far beyond the borders of China.
Americans will remember that it was under Chairman Mao that China moved together with the United States to end a generation of hostility and to launch a new and more positive era in relations between our two countries.
I am confident that the trend of improved relations between the People’s Republic of China and the United States, which Chairman Mao helped to create, will continue to contribute to world peace and stability.
On behalf of the United States Government and the American people, I offer condolences to the Government and to the people of the People’s Republic of China.
        Thank you very much.”

No amount of chest-thumping from Donald Trump will return low-skilled, high-paid manufacturing jobs to United States. No amount of browbeating by labor unions will change the global trajectory where no market is by itself the only big buyer or the only big seller of any given product.

I so agree with Chiefs Wife. Every word. The knowledge that people voted for him anyway after seeing his deeds and hearing his words left me feeling devastated. Not due to Trump, he is who he is, due to finding out so many people have no moral compass, so called Christians too. There are people in my own family who voted for him that leave me disgusted, my two brothers, and a niece and her husband. My own four grown kids, their spouses and In-Laws, a niece and grandniece, and my two Sister-in-Laws were all Democratic voters. Many want nothing to do with their uncles and cousin now, and I don’t blame them as I don’t either. Healing family differences won’t be easy especially if Trump carries through with his promises.

I’m just going to throw this out there…I now believe that DT being absolutely humiliated at the WHCD , set in motion the idea that DT would run for President to exact revenge on not only PBO for doing that to him, but to Democrats. He enlisted others to help him plan and scheme and lie his way to the top…even spoke to foreign leaders (Putin) to see how this could be done. I think that Putin was happy to oblige. He knows that he can do whatever he wants with shitgibbon because he’s ignorant and just plain stupid. Perfect Putin Pet. This was planned. The entire thing. I feel it in my bones. Revenge for slights is what fuels him.

    • November 27, 2016 at 12:16 pm

Hmm. I’ve thought the exact thing, more than once. Hate and revenge are his focus. Keeps him going. Let’s face it,PO humiliated him that night. Yes, he deserved it but I believe that fueled his run for president.

    • November 27, 2016 at 3:13 pm

i think he wanted to run against PBO in 2012 but lost his nerve seeing how popular the president was at the time. He could not use the same kind of non-politics against Obama but he knew if Hillary won the democratic nom he could best her by being exactly what he was. The birther movement gave him a platform to steal into the hearts and minds of some folks. His celebrity did the rest. Vulnerable People are often seduced by the rich and famous.

    • 83 vcprezofan2
      November 27, 2016 at 3:42 pm

Funny, Df, but offline last night I was thinking to ‘throw something out there’ myself. I was thinking to question whether anyone else felt any/all of DT’s controversial transitional picks were deliberately meant to stir things up so that he can be turfed out of a position which he really doesn’t want. Is he setting himself up to be impeached early into his “term”? I’ve started to wonder if his intent was/is mainly to profit, so he’s rushing to put his business plans in place in various corners of the world while challenging every previously acceptable norm of the presidency. He’s challenged and overcome the expectation that his taxes needed to be shared. He’s challenging the idea that his businesses should be placed in a blind trust. He’s challenged, and is challenging, the notion of ‘conflict of interest’, etc. etc. Does anyone else think he’s playing games with the US democracy?

Indeed, if he didn’t come across as such an ignoramus, I would have been tempted to think he’s so smart that he’s trying to teach his ‘beloved country’ that there are many loopholes re the presidency that need to be dealt with. I hesitate to think that he is anything other than a crafty, self-serving con man. OTH, falling back on the platitude that ‘every cloud has a silver lining’, maybe his unconscionable behaviour may result in some of the previously *expected-but-not-required* behaviour for the president become entrenched as legal requirements. So, we soldier on!

      • 84 FoxfireTX
        November 27, 2016 at 4:44 pm

Oh, I think he’s playing games with our democracy. And he is succeeding. Unfortunately, we have relied on political “norms” for the president and vp rather than statutes. We are going to pay a huge price for that. But I don’t think he’s going anywhere. We are going to be left with those kids of his running and ruining the country.

Foxf-TX, this is one time I’m going to be praying that you are wrong (about the ‘not going anywhere’ and ‘kids of his running and ruining the country’ bits. The US would completely lose ALL credibility in my eyes IF this fraud is allowed to wreak havoc for 4 years given that all the norms he’s thrashing could impact the nation’s safety. [And yes, I know there has been some precedent – Dubya already damaged US credibility in my eyes.]

Good morning TOD! Hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected. I’m starting to wonder if there will be a time when I feel optimistic again:-)

Is anyone else missing PBO’s usual small business Saturday shopping trip that did not occur this year? I don’t recall a year previously he did not shop with the girls. Sing of the times to come, I guess.

If you’re in the mood for some thinking, this is a pretty decent thread. Don’t agree with all of it but he highlights the issues we are facing.

Finally, as to that Oval Office meeting, I suspect that PBO started out assuming that DT had a somewhat higher level of knowledge than previously displayed, only to discover within 2 minutes that in fact he had LESS knowledge than previously demonstrated. PBO quickly redid everything he planned to say to a kindergarten level and started over:-) But from the looks of the photos afterwards, not even much of that sunk in.

    • November 27, 2016 at 1:08 pm

Foxfire, RIGHT THERE with you on feeling optimistic again. IF I do, it’s going to take something major to help that happen or a MAJOR attitude adjustment of my own to make it happen. Usually, no matter how down I am, going to church, hearing the songs that usually speak to me and lift me up, then a good message will help. So far, that hasn’t been the case. Am finding I can’t even sing the songs. Also finding I can’t make myself do my prayer and meditation time each morning. Will this ever end? Foresee it only getting worse. 😰😣😔😰

Of course this is the move that Trump will make, and while this frosty relationship intensifies Russia will move in to provide stability to Cuba. If I were Putin I’d be licking my chops at the thought of Trump leading America. What pisses me off the most is that most leaders of today lack vision, President Obama was/is a visionary. He has the ability to see three or four moves ahead.

And that is the problem Don. Our dumbed down electorate doesn’t have the ability to see beyond tomorrow. I am in despair about our long term economic prospects with the demise of the TPP. And both the left and the right is to blame for it. We have handed China the future and our prosperity with this stupidity. But we’ve had Republicans undermining education in this country for decades and this is the result.

My brain is fixated on how the media treated PBO when he was repairing a nation massively damaged by the financial crash, not to mention torn to pieces by two wars with no meaning and no purpose, compared to how the media treats the yellow tiny fingers.

Today the press is SCARED to say one word against the President Elect despite he has done NOTHING since he won the election than tweet and look after his business. No press conferences, no policies, no nothing – from the beginning to the end of his campaign & onwards. The cost of having him holed up in NY seems to have escaped serious mention, yet when PBO took a vacation the screams about cost were heard around the land.

When you silence the media, democracy is gone.
