Happy thanksgiving to the Obama and TOD family. I hope your day turned out wonderfully to be what you expected. I am here in Puerto Rico spending my first Thanksgiving Day on American soil. Right now my friends and I are waiting to experience a bit of Black Friday; we travel home tomorrow.

Good morning TOD! For those not shopping today, an important read by a conservative writer on how the fake news syndrome is destabilizing our democracy. President Obama has talked about this for awhile now. Not sure why Arapaho hasn’t posted her tweet here but her summary is perfect!

One of the never ending ironies of this election season is the Trumpsters’ belief that their guy is the “strongman” when in fact he is capitulating to both Russia and China. And there is nothing they love better than portraying President Obama as “weak”. Just another sign of Trump’s projection of his own worse qualities on everyone else. But then he could never hope to copy PBO’s steely-eyed glare at Putin.

    • November 25, 2016 at 11:13 am

I’m sure the first thing Trump did was thank Putin for helping steal this election for him. How many times have Trump call James Comey and the Republicans Governors who sign into law that voter suppression law?

Trump is in over his head with Russia and China, he has no idea that he’s the main course for this international gangbang.

My wife wants to go to JC Penny when I get home from work, of course she wants me to go with her which means I’m driving. As if I want to spend a Friday afternoon looking at bathroom rugs and towels. When I was a young man I dreamed of adventure and excitement and travel, now its “Donnie, do you like this color or that color?”

FLOTUS was there with the replacement kids ( her nephews ) to welcome the White House Christmas Tree. The last time FLOTUS will do that. 😦 I am so sad.

Think MSNBC is going to show Mrs. Obama soon, welcoming the holiday tree at the White House, with (as bella said – Ha!) “the replacement kids.” Might be a replay, but hadn’t spotted it earlier myself.

    Happy Friday, folks!

Maddow had a segment on Wednesday about the last time that there was such a disparity between the popular vote and who was President.

wait for it……..it was the election that ended Reconstruction. I just pursed my lips and went Uh Huh.

Wow, did not know that. Everyday I am constantly filled with horror as to what’s happening in this beloved country of ours. I had such faith in the American people and I think it was justified only I did not really believe it would be hacked by RUSSIA and that would be ok for Republicans (who used to hate Russia), there would be fake news via FB, and no matter the increase in early voting numbers, millions of Americans would be denied the right to vote due to voter suppression. I feel like I’m in a nightmare that never ends.

My youngest daughter has a personal/business FB blog. She has posted several companies that supported Trump asking others to boycott them. The responses to it is like opening a hornets nest. I am proud of her risking her own business for her principles. She has more activism in her like her Mom than I realized.

Been there, done that, I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been followed in a department store or had someone clutch their purse in a department store as I walked by. These men could have so easily been killed by an overzealous policeman. So now we can add “shopping for cheese” as something you can’t do while black.

Would it be wrong if there was mass resignations by experts all across the federal govt demanding Birther divest from his business or they walk away?

I’d like to see some kind of mass action, push back before the electoral votes are done.

This thing is driving me bonkers.

All the electors of the EC should be forced to read this and respond. To my way of thinking, if they vote for him, they condone his blatant unconstitutional behavior…and the Constitution they all pretend to care about, isn’t really that important after all….

    • November 25, 2016 at 4:11 pm

December 19th is a long way away, df ….

“The Constitution lets the electoral college choose the winner. They should choose Clinton.”

There is not. And indeed, there is an especially good reason for them not to nullify what the people have said — the fundamental principle of one person, one vote. We are all citizens equally. Our votes should count equally. And since nothing in our Constitution compels a decision otherwise, the electors should respect the equal vote by the people by ratifying it on Dec. 19.

They didn’t in 1888 — when Tammany Hall ruled New York and segregation was the law of the land. And they didn’t in 2000 — when in the minds of most, the election was essentially a tie. Those are plainly precedents against Hillary Clinton.

But the question today is which precedent should govern today — Tammany Hall and Bush v. Gore, or one person, one vote?

The framers left the electors free to choose. They should exercise that choice by leaving the election as the people decided it: in Clinton’s favor.”

BTW, the author has the credentials to speak authoritatively – credentials very, very few Americans have, for sure.

This seems like common sense to me, but, as you well know, common sense isn’t common at all. I often wonder if they watch the appointments that shitgibbon is making or wants to make…and they are as terrified as we are. We can only pray
